Key fob central unlocking

Went down to stick the new insurance disc on the Z just a moment ago and noticed the cental locking wasn't working via the key fob. I just replaced the battery on the key fob about a year ago. Don't have a spare fob. The car unlocks via putting the key in the door. And the car starts first time so no issue - I was expecting it not to start if the key fob battery was gone thus not powering the immobiliser chip.

Can the battery on the fob be so low that it won't activate the central locking but will keep the immobiliser chip activate?

I have steps in reprogramming the key fob - is this the right thing to try and do?

It was working fine last week.

As Zeus said, the immobilizer chip isn't powered by battery. Replace your battery and try before your reprogram it. Your zed will still be paired to your key fob even if you replace your fob battery, save yourself some time and avoiding the 'secret handshake' to reprogram.

Thanks - I will try that.

Got sorted with this. First replaced the CR2016 battery with a new one- tried it and the central unlocking didn't work.

Did the reprogramming steps and it worked first time! Nissan do make it very easy thankfully.

Not sure how the key fob lost its pairing with the car, probably a dead battery, but it's all fixed now.
