well you could for example use A for how far you've got one one tank and B for how far since the last service. they don't have any official meaning, just 2 readings for you to make use of how you like.

I know this sounds doubtful or even made up but I reset my ave mpg whilst travelling at 53 mph on the m1 for about 15 miles with cruise control on and at a fraction under 2500 rpm in 5th gear and was getting 39.7 mpg. Better than our 1.6 petrol Ford C-Max 61 plate.

I think using a 350Z for commuting is depressing......

 

The only time it's fun is if you're "slightly above" the speed limit. Like getting from Henley-On-Thames to Exeter in 2 hours lol
