JwBye19 Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I've searched through the forums high a low for a similar scenario but can't seem to find one. Can someone please point me it the right direction to finding my knock/almost a rattle over rough roads. I've changed the drop links, Arb bushes look fine, I don't know if shocks would make a knock? It's a similar knock to the one of a knackered front banana arm if that helps? Quote
philw99 Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Let me know if you find the problem, mine knock at the back 😒 Starting to get used to it now. keep thinking about going for poly bushes but been advised it's not worth the money. Quote
JwBye19 Posted October 26, 2015 Author Posted October 26, 2015 I sure will. As with poly bushes, you'd have to swap the whole lot, very time consuming and unnecessarily expensive I'd of thought Quote
davey_83 Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Does it seem a slow or quick repetitive knock when it happens? Quote
JwBye19 Posted October 26, 2015 Author Posted October 26, 2015 Fairly quick, almost a rattle on uneven Tarmac Quote
Piranha Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 (edited) I had a similar issue and it was a loose bolt In the rear arb bush bracket, have you checked there nice and tight. Edited October 26, 2015 by Piranha Quote
Spatt Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 Is this not the rear shocks? my car used to bang / clunk at the rear. it was a quick bang and i swapped the shock and it was fine Quote
brillomaster Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 my old car used to a have a metallic rattle from the rear, despite having everything checked I never located the source of the sound. I actually think it was a loose metal join around the strut brace/rear boot trim had come loose - sounded exactly like the siren for the alarm was loose and rolling around on the metal of the boot floor. Try stripping down the trim in the boot if you're running out of ideas! Quote
JwBye19 Posted November 7, 2015 Author Posted November 7, 2015 (edited) I found it in the end, the trim in the rear n/s wheel well was loose. Can't believe I hadn't spotted it 😠Edited November 7, 2015 by JwBye19 Quote
ZMANALEX Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Good job and thank you for posting up the fix. Quote
JwBye19 Posted January 29, 2016 Author Posted January 29, 2016 Got a knocking noise is that corner again, how common is it that a rear upper control arm ball joint knocks? Sounds very much like the banana arm. Quote
