If you really want something "special" take a look at the Alpina B3 GT3
Is that the one Evo reviewed this month? Nice but not on brief
335i are going from £10K now, you can add an LSD, and get 400bhp from a stock 335i for £2.5K, spend another £2K on brakes/suspension and for less than £15K your have a very nicely sorted bit of kit (which can also sit 4 adults, with a decent boot and do 35-40mpg on M ways)!http://www.e90post.c...ad.php?t=761943
Don't worry gang, I KNOW it's a great option
The budget might be taking a hit due to a house purchase, which older BM's are worth looking at? 330i? Did they do M-Sports around 2003-2004? Did any non-M Cars at that time have LSD's? We're probably looking at £3-4K and we still need a tourer.

Sounds like more overpriced apple tat to me

I had a fair bit of front suspension work done recently, which started with a torn shock absorber to control arm bush and snowballed into refreshing 60% of the front end.
Once you've done a few bushes (ooh err missus!) other weaknesses may become more obvious - it could well be that your drop-links are u/s too.
As Alex says, it could also be the compression arm and you can either do the whole arm or just the bush - if it's the latter check that the ball-joint is also ok. The OEM bushes aren't bad but I highly recommend Superpro poly bushes, more composure and no harsher a ride. They are pricy though at about £150 for the parts (L+R). I almost went down the Whiteline road as they are cheaper but there wasn't much feedback on these.
Good luck!!!

How much for the wheels? They look nice

Welcome Mr Bump!
Your other half has good taste in cars
Apart from the GT4 Special Edition (which isn't that special apart from colour), there are only 2 specs which are ;
1. GT, with extras such as leather and cruise control.
2. 'Non-GT' which is the base spec with cloths seats, no cruise control etc.
Unless she plans to do upgrades to seats and audio equipment, go for the GT model as it'll be easier to sell come resale time.
The GT only costs £500-1000 more and has the comforts that you really want from a car like this.
Also, the Rays alloys are well worth getting as opposed to the standard rims - they look better and are lighter, believe me you can feel the difference between the two.
Good luck - look forward to hearing about the new purchase!

It's used mainly for things like game or film review/help sites, so if you want to talk about the ending of a book in your review you can put it in spoilers so you're not ruining it for others. This usage is useful as well though.
How's it done then?

Haha well if there is another meet at the Grasshopper I would gladly pick you up and take you, I did the same with Doogyrev after he sold his Zed. The meets aren't just about the cars its about the people
Thanks Dave, you're too kind. Make no bones about it this is a good plaice to be, not too many pike(eys) either. I've had a whale of a time We really need to FINnish this and stop carping on.
-
I had 4 wheels done recently, they stripped, wet painted and then powder-coated the lacquer so you have a tough skin on the outside.
Normally it's £200 but it cost me £150 as they were doing a 4for3 deal. This was in Kent, a place called Inspraytion....
-
Maybe it wouldn't have taken you nearly two months
I wish it had taken more than 2 months
-
Heh, exactly what I'm intending to do but just need to give him a call, may need to postpone it now until the MR2 has gone.
doh
Ah well, at least you'll get used to the stock power and will appreciate the differences
-
Car sold to the gentleman who posted previously. I think i it was the tyre gloss that did it - what would we do without you Sarnie?
-
I'm heading to H.Dev in Nov so perhaps will get some sorted out then, rather than me tarting about in the cold
Nice one, Jez will look after you. What are you having done? I always planned to fit a plenum spacer and HFC's and uprev map it, but never got around to it......you won't see much of a power gain but the car should be even better to drive and listen to
-
Is it fairly easy to slip a bit of Molyslip into the gearbox ?
I did it on my MR2, and it definitely felt a lot better afterwards. I'm just noticing the little clunk from 1st to 2nd as well, kept thinking it was my dodgy shifting
It's normal from cold Rob, you've probably noticed it disappears when it's warmed up
-
Don't start with all the funny lines you wally.... We will be here all day for cods sake
Lets hope this new member rocks up at lots of meets
Anyway don't take this as a dig Leeroy, certainly don't want to have a roe about it mate
Haha, maybe i didn't think I'd be cool enough for the School or something along those Lines, no one likes to be Cast-off
Actually i almost made it to a couple of the Kent meets and was disappointed that I couldn't make the Grasshopper a few months back, it ended being huge.
Mebbe I'll turn up like a black sheep in something other than a Nissan at some point if I'm allowed
-
But stick around mate I hope
I reckon I might

Iv'e been looking at Jag XF's
A white one would be my choice.... And the 2.7D is almost as qick as the 3ltr petrol but a lot more economical..... Interior is kind of bland but really up to date and spacious....
Really tempted to flog the Zed & the Leon, get an XF and a little run around.....
They are good looking things, apparently a decent drive too. I fancy a V8 next but the SV8 is almost RS4 money....
-
Going up the world mate congrats.
Stick around though
It's all good Dblock, it's gonna be weird owning a barge though
-
I dont think a 350z is as fast as you might think but its great fun to drive
Definitely not compared to a bike but I reckon the 350Z has exactly the right amount of power for the road. The power is all usable most of the time, sometimes it's good to feel like your getting everything out of the car.
Good choice Chippy, the Zed has Sole and is a nice Plaice to be
-
Lovely cars and certainly 'special'
They are aren't they. I'm keen to find something which is a bit unusual AND drives well. After a bit of research it seems the downside of the B10 is the slush box and lack of LSD.....
-
It was great to meet you Leigh, you were just the kind of seller I was hoping to find, so I count myself very lucky.
I hope you manage to find the car you are looking for next as well, I cannot say how important it is to drive before dismissing a potential (even out of curiosity)
Most importantly, all the best for your family.
Thanks Rob, enjoy the car (where's that 'drive' smiley when you need it!).
Buying cars is a bit of a nause - apart from meeting nice owners and enjoying a few test drives
-
Not sure yet Humpy, something along the lines of BMW M5, Alpina B10, 335i, maybe an S4 if the B7 model isn't too understeery.
We have a baby on the way so need more seats
-
I sold my Zed to a really nice chap today, he's a car nut too so I know it'll get looked after and enjoyed He's already a forum member so he might be along at some point.
I've been super impressed with the car and am sorry to see it go - at least I have a few test drives to look forward to over the next few weeks .
-
So having sold my 350Z I'm closer to getting a family barge. I've decided a quite fancy an Alpina B10 V8S, does anyone have any experience of these?
Where did you meet your other half?
