  1. Thanks for that link, the car actually had a new clutch and flywheel kit fitted back in feb.. wondering if it was done badly (it was done before I got the car, I just have the receipts for the work which was carried out). I think I may get it checked out.. any idea of cost for just having a look ?
  2. Ah righty, I will be at Swanwick near Southampton (The centre which handles everything south of the Prestwick handover boundary) Aye no matter how I do the math, I'm going to have to sell the zed and spend <£5k on a comfortable diesel as I need something cheap to run but at the same time it's got to be reliable. To give you an idea of how tight it will be, the first year only pays £13k
  3. Aye shed is sounding like an option, however i can see a problem.. Get up to go to work... walk outside.. see a shed and a zed... I'm just gonna end up saying "ok ill just drive the zed once this week" then "hmm maybe twice"... Will have to look at the various multicar options (thanks for the info thus far). it may be that actually buying/maintaining a shed is the same cost as just shelling out on the extra petrol/tyres/servicing on the zed
  4. Just got the good news that i have been accepted as a trainee Air Traffic Controller The bad news is it will involve a 84mile/day round trip and for the first 3 years I will be taking an uber paycut so don't think I will be able to afford to use the zed and may have to sell it and get a diesel *shudder* The next intake isn't until October 2011 so I have a year of zedding yet Just trying to work out whether to try and save enough to run the zed through the first 3 years of training (after which point running costs become irrelevant and I buy a 370z).. or whether to be sensible and get a tractor.. decisions...
  5. Thanks guys, worked a treat!
  6. I have the same noise on my car. started about a month ago and have chosen to ignore it till reading this post... now a bit worried I get the noise when the car is in neutral with clutch out and it seems to disappear when i push the clutch in. Thinking I best get it checked out. How do they tell if its the release bearing, is it a case of try it and see and if it doesn't work then take the gearbox apart? Lastly can I cause any further/worse damage by driving it as it is.... Seems like a catalogue of problems this month with handbreak needing tightening, airbag light coming on and this... bloody good job the car makes me smile!
  7. thanks guys will give it a try :-)
  8. My airbag light just randomly came on yesterday and now flashes continually... Any ideas? Will it have to go to a nissan garage or can i take it to anywhere?
  9. This got me thinking... I present to you: http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=39932
  10. I've seen a lot of posts on this and other forums asking the all important question.. how expensive is it to run and use as a daily use car? All too often people price it up and go omfg thats a lot.. for example my monthly costs are: £200 loan repayment £200 petrol £50 insurance £20 road tax £100 servicing + wear and tear (estimate) total: £570 This seems a lot, however if I look at what I was paying before to run my sensible 2.0l vectra £130 loan repayment £150 petrol £35 insurance £20 road tax £60 servicing + wear and tear total: £395 A difference of £175.. thus my zed is not costing me £570/month.. it's costing me £175 (as I'd have been paying £395/month anyway without it).. Much easier to stomach £175 to drive a zed that turns head and makes me smile every time I get in it... bargain imo !
  11. The car had clearly been in a bump, nothing major but front bumper needed changing and a small bit of wing repair.. had it all checked out under the body and it was all groovy. Also seats needed repairing (but thats common), couple of interior panels and exhaust will need doing next mot.. (but good excuse to upgrade). No reported damage on the vehicle so doesn't show on any checks and I used OEM parts so wont be an issue when I come to resell it. The guy never told me about this and tried to say "oh it must have happened when the missus drive it the other day". Also there were a lot of paint chips but i got a guy I use to go round the car with a fine tooth combe and fill them all in. He did an awesome job So in short, at that price I would suggest there is something the guy isn't telling you, but thats not necessarily a reason not to buy it as at that price you could still spend a lot on it while still having a bargain Of course it could be 100% genuine and the guy just needs a quick sale...
  12. Ah another zed "quirk" then lol Was fine for the first 5 months of ownership.. just started a couple of weeks ago
  13. Well it does seem cheap but then I got my sunset GT UK spec 54 plate with 40k miles on it for £8000 6 months ago.. originally was up for £9,250 but had some issues which were easily fixable so knocked him down to £8000.. I would say that for that price it could well be genuine but probably will need some money spending on it. I had to spend just short of £1000 to bring mine up to scratch.. but I figure £9000 is still cheap and I know a chunk of the bits are now brand new
  14. The left speaker on the zed (this is the stock GT bose kit) intermittently cuts out and then comes back. This usually happens if I go up a bump. I have found that if it goes, I can make it work again by swinging the car around to the right very quickly. It then hangs around until I go over another bump.. annoying and inconvenient lol. Im guessing there is a loose connection somewhere.. my question is how is the best way to determine where it is and fix it ? Cheers
  15. was wearing shades so not sure if it was silver or GM but spotted sat 24th in the morning in the carpark for southern aquatics and the co-op.... i passed by in my sunset
  16. Yup that was me hehe thanks for thinking of that, shame you were in a hurry woulda been nice to meet you
  17. I was in swanage from about 1pm - 4pm with my sunset (54 plate) yesterday... may have been me you saw ? Totally stock GT UK model
  18. Paid £8000 for my UK spec 54 plate sunset GT with 39k on the clock 6 months ago... bargain
  19. Drove past a sunset today (sunday 18th) late afternoon at broadstone roundabout in Poole. Got waved at and waved back Anyone on here ?
  20. right, time to do some nr crunching I'll have them if you don't want them
  21. The small key should work - why not just try it and see if it starts the car? Shall try later, can nissan program a new fob to the car if all fobs are missing then ?
  22. Ah groovy thanks. I only got the 1 proper fob key (have purchased a spare + uncut barrel to get done at nissan when i next have a day off work). So could I use the small key to get into the car and drive it to nissan should I lose the fob key? (where they could hopefully sort me out a new programmed key) or is it then game over ?
  23. When I brought my zed, I got 2 keys. 1) A standard fob with the 2 buttons on it which I use every day 2) A second smaller key with no buttons on it Just wondering what the smaller key can/can't do ? My worry at the moment is that if I lose my key with the built in fob... am I buggered ?
