  1. I haven't reset my computer for last 5 tanks of petrol and averaging 23.3mpg which includes day to day commuting and sitting in queues for about an hour a day rest of time is a mixture of town, A roads etc etc

Best I had was 36mpg on the motorway chilling at 55ish

On the hole zeds are not too bad if you are used to perfromance cars.

Worst I've had was 4.7 mpg after a monster thrashing session.

  2. Replies on this forum are Like lightening!!! excellent!!

Do the DS2500 still work well when they are cold? I spend most of my time on the day to day commute and obviously don't want any I can't stop moments!!! So a set up which works on track and on the street is what I'm after.

    Thank you

  3. Good evening all,

I'm hoping to go on my first trackday at the end of the month and need some new brakes, pads are getting quite low and the rear discs look to be getting a bit thin - still without run out limits on a clock but worn to around 2mm depth.

My question is do I go for standard discs or EBC turbogrooves? Also which pads should I go for? Standard, red stuff or yellow stuff?

I want some pads that will still be good on the work day commute and not cause me any oh @*!# moments can't stop.......

I've seen the good prices CS offers on the EBC pads.

Any info anyone can offer will be very much appreciated.

If it makes any difference Donnington Park is the venue. :D

  4. Thanks for the information guys........gutted to find out its £295 for a reconditioned swap which may well go tits up 12 months down the line......

Very very disapointed with it being a Clarion/Bose system, I've had a sony headunit in my other car for years and its spot on.

Right I suppose in this case the next question, are there any headunits available from other manufacturers that work with the steering wheel controls and the bluetooth kit??

    Thankyou:dry:

  5. Good evening everyone :o)

No not misplacing it but loosing the sound coming from the left side of the car.

Now I know that loss of sound from the left side of the car was a warranty issue but it is usually accompanied by skipping of CDs. I don't have the skipping; CD plays fine just every now and then I lose sound from some or all speakers on the left side.

Sometimes I lose the trebles other times the mids, occasionally everything. It is rather annoying but only ever does it playing CDs never ever when listening to the radio.

When I bought my car the owner told me the head unit was replaced under warranty for this very issue. Do the replacement head units have a habit of failing too, if so its not what you would expect of Bose stuff to be fair. I'm not sure if this could be a loose connection or new head unit time again.

If so whats the best option? The car is out of warranty being an 04 and its going to be hand in pocket time. Has anyone experienced this? Is it the head unit? The amp? Any help very much appreciated.

    Cheers

  6. Hi guys,

I've had my Zed about 2 weeks now and today I noticed something I hadn't noticed before.

Basically when the car is idling with the clutch depressed I get no noise. However, when I release the clutch pedal I can hear and noise (can't really describe the noise like a rumbley mechanical sound, sound slike gearbox/transmission noise)

If the clutch is depressed again the noise goes and all is quiet, release the clutch and the noise returns.

Now I have searched and found numerous posts about noisey clutch release bearings however my understanding of a noisey clutch release bearing would be the opposite to what I have, i.e. no noise when the clutch pedal is up and noise when the pedal is down.

I had the same symptoms I now have on my old Punto which was the gearbox input shaft bearing. My question is is my noise normal or do I need to shell out for a gearbox input shaft bearing replacement?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Steve a worried Zed owner.....

  7. Awesome guys thank you very much, I'll get some grease banged on there first chance i get :D:D:D

I must say I'm loving the Zed, its so good!!

The torque curve and handling characterirstics are absolutely brilliant!!

  8. Good afternoon all,

I recently bought my 350 and it has a creaky bum. I have noticed I have a creaky sound coming from the back of the car when I go over bumps at slow speeds, if the noise is there at higher than 10mph I can't hear it.

I'm leaning towards the drop links requiring replacement? Does that sound about right? If so how much are a pair of drop links?

    Thank you

    Steve

  9. Just wondering if the Rays wheels and normal cast 6 spoke wheels take the same size tyres and are the same width offset etc?

Reason i ask is I am considering buying a car with the normal as cast rims and then buying a set of the forged rays ones and it would be cheaper if I didn't have to buy new tyres as well.

    Thank you

  10. Hey guys,

Sorry for all the Noob questions I have searched for things but been unable to locate any threads containing what I'm after.

First up the 4 silver buttons around the clocks what do they do?

1 of them does fuel computer (the one with the square on) but the other 3 I couldn't work out when I test drove one, if its something obvious you are more than welcome to call me a muppet!

Also with a Jap import if the speedo has been converted to run in miles peer hour and the fuel computer states 6.5KM per litre does that mean its really 6.5 miles per litre ( i.e.29.51MPG) or 6.5KM per litre (18.35MPG) I was doing 75 on the mway cruising which suggests 29.51 MPG can anyone confirm which one would be correct?

    Thank you very much.

  11. That is probably correct with it not being turbo'd and as raw as my current Celica I was surprised by how quiet it was but the V6 did sound lovely when opened up!

I did notice that I was always going faster than it felt I was. In mine its the other way round probably cos everything rattles shakes and grumbles, lol!

    Thanks ppl

  12. Morning guys,

I test drove an azure blue 2004 S tune this weekend and I was slightly disapointed by the performance. Handling is fantastic and I must say I was very impressed with everything about the car except the acceleration. Build quality is brilliant, no rattles at all and the brakes are awesome.

I've currently got a 92 Celica GT4 its only about 230BHP and peak torque is 220ft/lbs it weighs about 1500kg. The 350z is 276 BHP and 276ft/lbs also weighs about the same but being two wheel drive has less transmission loss. Now I know it is faster slightly but by the feel of the butt dyno it failed to stir my soul. Is this normal or does it sound like the one I drove had some kind of issue that I was unaware of?

    Cheers

  13. Thanks guys thats in the ball park I kind of expected, pretty much the same as any other RWD car.

I really feel like I want a zed now.

Off to test drive one tomorrow, can't wait, I'm like abig kid!

  14. Well I'm more than happy with that I was concerned that a Zed was gonna be much like a Supra in terms of petrol, i.e. about 240 miles to 80 - 90 quid.

It gets even better mpg than mine so I'm super stoked, right I really need to get one now!!!

    Many thanks everyone :D

  15. Just a quick question I'm just wondering how much petrol it takes to fill a zed from the warning light first coming on and how many miles will this volume of petrol give you on average.

i.e. full tank back to warning light first coming on?

My GT4 currently takes £66 from warning light to full and I get 280miles.

This involves approx half on motorway, 35% cruising and 15% giving it some.

Sorry if this has been asked before I did search but probably didn't search for the right string.

    Thanks

  16. Good afternoon,

I've used the old search facility and read a few of the topics regarding clutch life. They all pretty much say the same that a few cars suffered with early clutch failure.

I suppose I'm just interested really whats the average or expected life from a 350Z clutch. I'm off to test drive a red UK GT tomorrow and want to check the service history to see when the clutch was last changed and when I should be expecting to change it again if required.

Also what is the ball park figure for a change, in the topics I've read prices vary from £500 up to £1600 all inclusive of parts and labour.

    Thanks
