  2. On the off chance has anybody got a space saver wheel I can borrow for an hour on the IoW? I got rid of mine ages ago in favour of extra boot space and a can of foam stuff but the tyre is torn so can't be inflated. I just need to borrow it to get the Zed back from Racecourse roundabout to Ryde as it won't go on the back of the recovery service I've tried. Any help is appreciated

  3. Just some food for thought...

I haven't looked at the Dell streak specifically but the issue I had with a couple of tablets was re-routing the on/off/sleep switch to somewhere more accessible as they are usually on one of the sides of the tablet. eveything else is pretty easy as the rest of the stuff can be hidden behind the screen (such as wiring for chargers etc).

  5. Tough decision really, but ive been there and done it. My choice was a VW Golf, PD engine. Does 60mpg daily on my commute to work. You can get the mk5 in a 140 or 170bhp version, pretty quick, easy to drive. Very cheap to run and service. Servicing mine cost me 60quid every 10k miles. Brake discs /pads cost about 70quid a full set front/back and lasts 80k.

Of course you aint gunna have the noise or experience of the v6, but the cash you`ll save on a daily basis is huge.

Then, in a few years time when you are better off, flog it and get something mad again. VW`s hold their value and so you wont loose huge amounts.

Exactly what I'm doing. Golf Tdi 170 gets stupid MPG and is still a nice quick(ish) car.

  6. modifications add no value to a car, and in alot of cases actually devalue a car. you go and try and part exchange it; tell them all the mods you have etc and the most you'll get out of them is "and?"

Explain why Val sold his for 20K then

A dealer wont know or care but an enthusiast will ;)

    Exactly.

To say that mods add no value is incorrect. To the general masses maybe, but there will always be people after modified cars and will pay a little extra for them. It's when people add the full RRP of the mods ontop of the value of the car that distorts things....

I've already posted my opinion, you obviously didn't read it

C'mon then Liam.. how much as is? I know its a what people are willing to pay but you've always been pretty good with valuations

Sorry mate, I missed it in between bromancing with an old friend :blackeye:

  8. Hello stranger :p

Well hello old friend! Hows the fourfour and more importantly, hows you?

Im good..fourfour gone...i live in callow hill now (on my own :#1: ) :disguise: u good??

Callow hill? Congrats on becoming inbred :p Im outta there now, living in Wythall. I did notice your old house had sold.

The fourfours gone? Wanna buy a nice Azure Zed? PM me ya number

  9. Thanks for the advice everybody.. I was only asking for an idea on the sale price to be honest - all this talk of stripping the car down (and I'm sadly not joking here) is actually making me a bit emotional.

Yes the more money I get for it the better but that aside, I just feel the car is worth so much more. Its the stupid things like the port machining and polishing, the nismo ECU, the K&W suspension and anti roll bars, all the stuff you can't see that just makes it so special and will be lost & hidden if it is stripped.

    God I'm turning into a woman :in_love:

  10. Wow.. they are worth F-A nowadays :blush:

Oh and 350Russ, I didn't mean to disagree, just shocked on how much the value has dropped.

Thanks for all your input guys, stripping really isn't an option though. Dave, how much have you been offered for the Berks then?

Hmn.. I was hoping to spend 8k on golf and have a little left over for insurance.. damn.

  11. Hi guys and girls, hope everyone is well :)

Thought I'd pop in here for a bit of advice, I'm looking to sell the Zed (as quick sale as possible really) as I'm going to be doing quite a bit of mileage for work now so can't really afford to run it. (Think I'm going to get a golf TDI but that's another topic)

For you old skoolers - you probably remember me (hopefully :surrender: ) and to the new kids this is my car viewtopic.php?p=421262#p421262

I really could do with a bit of help coming up with a price.. I can't remember the value of modifications rule that Sarnie used to say so just wanted your thoughts on a price to put it up for.

Current Mileage is 58000, everything else is pretty much the same.

    Any help is appreciated

    Thanks,

    Ian

  12. No progress made on this, the buttons don't align and you'd have to shave down the circuit board by a mm or two to get it to fit. I only have one key so I din't want to risk it in the end.

I think its a custom mould job TBH
