  1. And the winner is.. EVAP purge solenoid/valve pulsing, stethoscope revealed it to be the source. Going to replace it & see if it quietens down. For ref this has occurred on a 12 plate @ 46k miles.
  2. Anyone want to have a stab at diagnosing this noise (asking a lot for a video shot in a B&Q carpark I know :P ). Idling at some lights last week I was looking around for the bus making the noise until I realised oh wait, that's me. From inside the cab it sounds exactly like a diesel, increases with revs (clutch in or out), and is accompanied by a laboured whine when you add revs (not heard in vid, doesn't sound like a belt). Doesn't do it from cold, only as it comes up to temp. No other symptoms, drives OK, no noticeable power loss. Definitely not the usual clutch chatter. I'm wondering.. exhaust manifold? Can't get it to a garage for a while =/ https://youtu.be/UNmn3O0Yrlk
  3. First set of Bridgestones replaced at 17.5k, second set just replaced at 16k. About 4mm remaining both times but you could tell they were pretty much done. Latest set was £680.
  4. I get that they're probably just trying to reassure the customer but that's got to be bull (given I had the revision D fail, and it was replaced with 'latest', another revision D unit..).
  5. Six weeks is ridiculous. If you've got a full dealer service history you need to turn the screws on Nissan customer services.
  6. Ah then yes, clocked you as you passed me on the roundabout - car sounded good
  7. Black Rose is me. See that Nismo around quite a bit too.
  8. Resolved with a new steering lock (same revision as puked from the look of it). I've not had a chance to chat with the case handler since lodging the case, but they've coughed for 75% of the part cost leaving a bill of £400.
  9. Thanks for that, but it stayed stubbornly dead. Quoted approx. £600 to replace. Dealer thought there was a strong case for goodwill from Nissan given the age of the car and the part that's failed, so a case has been opened & we'll see where that goes.
  10. The steering lock engagement has been intermittent the past 3 days, always made the mechanical *whirrr* as normal but didn't always engage and lock. Parked it last night, *whirrr* but lock not engaged (could turn wheels). This morning.. dead, with solid key symbol. It's had the once over from the RAC (keys, battery etc) and now awaiting recovery. 2012 car, 30k miles, 10 months out of warranty (sigh..), steering lock revision 48700 JF00D-B1-01 dated 03.08.10. I'm assuming this falls well outside of the recall business, so not looking forward to what's coming next.
  11. Yup, exactly this. Really cramps your style in Tescos carpark Only offside rear, and only on exit. Doesn't make a peep any other time, including driving, speedhumps, bouncing that corner, or whether the handbrake is on or off.. just on exiting the vehicle. It'll be raised again at Feb's service, so keen to hear if you get it diagnosed before then.
  12. Mine started doing this at about 8 months old/6k miles. It coincided with the onset of winter and is notably worse in cold weather. Flagged it at first service for them to look at but was told by the tech it was normal/car settling after exit. Be interested to hear what your dealer says.
  13. Yes, it's the tyre pressure warning light I spent a fun 10min at the side of the road trying to find it in the manual (totally absent!) before the bloody great screw sticking out of the tyre told me what it was
  14. First other 370Z i've seen in 6 months! Think you were a V or W plate, looked very good in profile as you went past Only a few cars back but couldn't catch up due to the usual murder of Cambs traffic.
  15. I've just erred on the side of caution and binned a 4 month old *sob* rear Bridgestone with only 3.5k *sniff* miles on it due to a screw through the centre tread. I'm curious what the general opinion is on repair versus replace, as I received conflicting opinions at the tyre place. One chap would have happily repaired it as apart from a lowered speed rating it would be 'sound', and short of tracking the car I was never going to see those speeds. The actual tyre fitter however was of the 'Hell no.. not worth the risk on that car' opinion, and would be concerned about temperatures on the repair if driven hard. I'd gone straight for a new tyre and not mentioned the issue of repairs until after the fitting, so i'm fairly sure the latter opinion was not just sales spiel.
