Interesting. Aston Martin RIP 2030 unless Hybrid Petrol
I think we have to remember the UK is a small county compared to others and although the industrial revolution started here we are not running mills and factories on coal anymore. So comparitively speaking our emissions are a drop in the ocean compared to the big boys and girls with their big emission pants.
Car manufacturers might not be able to sell in the UK after 2030 but doesn't mean they can't to other countries who don't give a stuff or have not signed up to the relevant paperwork?(I may be wrong of course?)
I expect Aston sell more cars to footballers and the like abroad than here like Bentley and Rolls etc?
Maybe everyone will see what happens with Porsche and their synth fuel (sounds like a Blade runner thing) but I know companies like Mazda don't appear to be rushing to knock out EV only stuff, they still like petrol.
All we can do is sit and wait? I expect there will be more reports about the evils of EVs but they are here to stay so we have to accept them. I even see a need for those Citroen Ami leccie milk floats that 16 year olds apparently can drive!!
But I also see companies like Porsche maybe jaguar and Bentley who accept they have to preserve their legacy /classic cars for posterity for no other reason there is a lot of money still in it? If all the Porsche 911 owners are suddenly told sorry we don't support you anymore, that's a lot of customers to lose and regardless of how good your ev product will be they will go under.

Lol you forgot the chewing gum
Of course but I thought during these pandemic times we have to be careful with chewing gum? Maybe get your dad to chew it though to ensure compliance?

i did a cheeky edit after your quote
Blimey if araldite doesn't hold it , get the screwdriver out and put some 6 inch screws in there, duct tape for added strength.

Cleaned with some white spirit, wiped dry then left 20mins to make sure, used araldite "rapid" in the end, easier to control coverage as i thought super glue would run too much and stick the wires together inside , the attached picture is after 20mins and a couple of slowly opening and closing the boot, Fingers crossed this has worked.
Thanks again for your help
Nice one well done. A garage would charge you hours labour for that I think?

Haha excellent and I thought I kept everything Alex!
I remember the 2008 Hoon with your famous fire breathing monster, but according the to properties file on the pictures 5th September 2009. We couldn't go the following year as Lucy was due a few months later so we just saw you guys off and we had a relaxed Scottish trip instead.
Happy times and great people.

No - way, way before Ken bought his. Pics from the Jockland hoon in 2008. The GTR was driven a friend of Stewy who organized that event - don't recall his name but iirc he was only about 18.......
Apart from the last pic, they were taken at the starting point in Fort Augustus - good memories and nice pic of my black Zed at the time, next to Stewy's car.
Great memories
That's right Colin I remember he was about 18 or so we couldn't believe he had a car like that?!!!
Oh yes that black zed looks familiar

The Defence rests its case M'lud!
I remember this story way back from the 1990s in a documentary called The X Files! Which is probably where he got the content for his new book!

It's been a while since 2009 and we did lose a lot of good photos from the forum care of photobuckets greed, however I was looking for a way to transfer tapes of my daughter onto the laptop and I found these pictures on the memory card!
That year my other half was pregnant with impending child so we had the Suzuki Gran Vitara sans Zed , anyway these were taken at Fort Augustus, some familiar cars and faces - probably not on the forum anymore?
Yes we were still good club members meeting up with you guys whilst we had a Scottish hoot or our own.
Enjoy and sorry for spamming the server!

worded that wrong. What I meant was the telematic box to track you and how many miles covered. Its ok for classic cars to be exempt. People have paid for them lol
I admit I didn't read all of it as I got so fed up with all the pop ups and adverts every 2 seconds!! (Reading on phone) .

“Any taxation scheme should serve to deter long term petrol/ diesel uptake and help the population move towards greener solutions.”
"Pay per mile systems will force drivers to install telematics black box devices inside their cars to monitor how many miles drivers have covered."
Haha, kindly p*** off..... Classic cars remain exempt hmm.
Long term EV exemption isnt sustainable. No sheet ...
The only reason classic cars get off (for now) are the powerful and rich higher ups who are members of or involved in the classic car movement. Eventually classics will be kicked out like everyone else. Obviously I am biased as a lifelong classic owner I love the tax and mot free lifestyle although still think the mot bit is mad!
I wonder if they do positive earth or 6v tracking boxes especially for classics?

I spoke to a friend about the same thing the other week.
He has quite a collection of cars.
Stage 3 tuned R35.
Ford Mustang
Aston Martin
Tesla Model 3 Performance
A classic MG.
I asked which is the most fun to drive and he said it was the MG.
Stripped of creature comforts
Noisy.
The only car he has that he can really work through the gears on a simple trip to Sainsbury's whereas the others would see little need to shift beyond 2nd gear
Same here my fave car was the MK1 mx5 it just worked was fun and honest. They got it right. I still have my old Beetle for the same reason.
I love my Stang it's bogoo 400 something bhp and I can't get that down with the pzeros they just lose grip but it's the torque for me and that endless pulling power it just covers long distances with ease?
All those YouTube 800+ bhp stuff will be wee'd on by EVs anyway.
Last time my beetle was on the road sept 1990!!!

I was thinking what an odd ball year?
Pandemic, clowns in charge of powerful countries, looming Brexit, electric cars and now monoliths!
Apparently first time in 800 years we get a proper Christmas Star too?
What a time for aliens to say hello?
How is 2021 going to compete with this? Will we finally get flying cars.

Great business plan. I hope the government will at least collect their VAT, corporate taxes and extras just as they do with Gasoline.
It's part of the craze for mindfulness which has dropped in to everything these days? You know a 30 minute break whilst the car charges and you spend money on very expensive coffee and magazines in the available shops?
Will there be an ACE cafe alternative also? Earth friendly type cafe with paper cups and non animal products uber expensive latte and vegan breakfast overpriced no doubt? A section for all the E bikers too? Damn that will be a boring place not an oil leak anywhere to be found!!
Just to be clear I am taking the mick before I upset vegans or E Bikers! I was almost tempted by a Chinese copy E lambretta myself last year?
It will be fine we are just being luddites....

Hopefully by February March we will get specs and price. Enjoying the Nismo for another year. Other cars I can consider later down the line. Ill probably put on another 6,000 miles by November when the new Z is out.
If There is a car in Japan for around £35000 and under it may be worth a look. Ill be saving up just incase one appears at a reasonable price 12 months after release.
Since the Z may become a hybrid one day under a new platform. I think its the last opportunity to get a pure petrol Z
Good luck and keep us posted.

My experience with Gorilla Glue is that it expands as it dries, so holding for 2 min won't be long enough, I would look to find a way to clamp in place for at least an hour. Put a couple of globs on a bit of wood and see.
Another option would be Araldite which is an epoxy based glue (two tubes you need to mix to activate) that does not expand but will be more finicky about the surface cleanness before bonding.
It's the small.superglue tubes I have used like fixing broken plates etc? Didn't know it expands but never had an issue? I don't use it for at least a few hours after joining but have glued my damn fingers to it in the past.

Turps is fine. Just a little on a rag it's just to remove grease that's all. Then a clean rag after. The gorrila stuff is about £2.99 a pack lasts forever only need a tiny bit but hold it in place with your fingers for about 2 mins.

Thinks for the great tip, guess this will work to clean both surfaces?
Yes it will anything to get rid of any grease or contaminant? Paint thinners, nail varnish remover have a look around the house.

Hi,
My dads Corsa had trouble with the wiring for the tailgate, that's been sorted but i managed to break a clip for the wiring rubber sleeve/conduit (see picture) tried to use what i had to hand which was black roof sealant, seemed to work for a week or so but then still pulls away, contact adhesive didn't work at all, would tigerseal work or something else ??
half the clip still locks in its just the other half that's missing
Any PU based sealant should work but takes time to set. I would use Gorilla glue super glue. Clean both sides with meths or alcohol, dry off and put a tiny bit of glue on the rubber side. Press and hold in position for about 2 mins then you will be fine. Close the boot for a few hours and it's done.
I tried all sorts of glues over the years and they always let me down but this one actually works. Good luck
