  1. And next week on Blue Peter.......

Just trying to help matey ;):surrender:

I know bud, its just amazing how lateral the thinkng needs to be to fix small probs on the Zed

    All good stuff

Yep, you have to have a wierd mind, like mine :lol:

  2. And next week on Blue Peter.......

Just trying to help matey ;):surrender:

blue peter ? orange ian ;)

i find draught excluder is good for this sort of job, ( the stuff you use around window frames )

    :lol::lol::lol: thats the stuff ;)

  3. I have one of those noises just in in front and to the right of the steering wheel, i think where the two bits of plastic come together

I know where that is coming from, it's the trim strip that fits the A pillar against the windscreen, try pushing some card temporarily in the gap, and see if that sorts it

  4. Had an awfull zizzing noise coming from the inside of the Zed for a while now, decided enough was enough and striped out the plastic trim in the rear, ALL of it :scare: and put some thin strips of sticky foam on the inside edges of the trim :teeth::teeth::teeth: NO MORE ZIZZING NOISES :lol::lol:

  5. Just had a new set of Kinetix hight flow cats fitted and i have noticed thew Engine Malfunction light is on ( the one like a little box with 2 T shapes coming off it )

is this anything to worry about or will the ecu sort itself out soon enough ?

also when the mechanic was fitting them he said the originals had a sort of brace that bolted between then and that the kinetix didnt have mounting points for it to go back on, has anyone else cames across this and found a solution to the bar or is it even needed ?

cheers again guy for all your help and knowledge

oh and by the way... they sound A-MAZING !!!!

    Paul

    Paul

First, fitting hiflows should NOT put the CEL light on, not unless a lambda probe has been damaged removing it, or one has just decided it's had enough, they are really tight to get out of the cats, and can be damaged if not extremely carefull when removing.

Secondly, the Kinetix cats are a lot lighter than the Nissan ones, and as such do not require the brace bar, just keep it in case you sell them in the future, and wish to revert to the originals.

And yes they do sound awesome, especially with an aftermarket zorst :teeth: enjoy Paul. ps, try an ECU reset

  6. After a few weeks of 'lurking' i finally sold my M3 and bought a Zed last saturday! its a JDM gunmetal grey - it was only the second one i looked at (i know i should've looked at a few more) but i fell in love with it and got it for a good price! My question is does anyone know what sort of alarm/immobiliser comes with a Jap car - after receiving my insurance documents they have asked for a copy of a thatcham 1 certificate and/or proof it has one. Does anyone know if you can tell if it has an immobiliser or deadlocks? thanks in advance.

Lee, welcome matey, i also sold my M3 and ended up with a Zed, enjoy :teeth:

  7. Saw them on a car at a car rally once, would have to say that I wouldn't do it, it looked cheap and tacky (but that goes along with the whole 'get what you paid for' thing I guess) as well as causing issues to the rest of the chassis (door wouldn't close properly and knocked against the bodywork).

Simon, funny that, i also wouldn't do it to mine even though i think they can look ok :lol:

  8. To be brutally honest, i personally prefer the slightly heavier clutch and gearchange the earlier model has, i know it isn't for everyone, but it suits me just fine :teeth:

That's interesting because I also prefer the old heavy clutch. I'm now well used to the lighter clutch but do miss the old one.

Glad someone agrees matey, i was begining to think twas me being stoopid :lol:

  9. They look good IMO, but there a good manufacturers of these and there are very very bad ones

agreed they can look good but on a standard car i'm not so sure, the car has to be ott to carry it off imo :surrender:

i wouldnt imagine considering the size of the market for these that there are many manufacturers to choose from, can you name a good/bad one ?

Andy is probably the best man to speak to on this. zedrush also had them on his first car. You basically get what you pay for in then end.

Agree they would look naff on a standard car.

Agree with you lot :lol: , look great on a well modded car, but bleedin stupid on a standard one :yuck::lol::lol:

  10. After coming from a modified Skyline to the 350z, im looking forward to the excellent fuel economy the350z offers

Mind you, I shouldn't slag Renault, apparently we use their engine

Blasphemour!!! I believe they use 'ours'. From what ive read its a Nissan engine which Renault started using ?? Can anyone else confirm or deny this?

Dave, you are correct, renault used it in the Velsatis, fugly bastard thing.

  11. I don't honestly think Z's are too thirsty. To compare, I had a Honda Accord Type-S (boo) before my Z, which had a 2.4 petrol (and a meager 187 bhp  ). Honda claimed it would do mid 30's mpg but I worked it out as doing on average 24 mpg! To be fair, I was a bit heavy footed, but I am now in the Z. Been getting 20 mpg. . .

My mate has bought a 330i and it's worse on fuel than my Z, and he's previously a Renault driver so obviously not a boy racer :p Mind you, I shouldn't slag Renault, apparently we use their engine

No, the VQ 35 engine is designed and built in Japan by Nissan

  12. Anyone know if these are any good, out of interest ;)

    crap, hence the price.

That's what i like, a man who doesn't beat about the bush :teeth::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: hiya Phil :lol:

I think we both know we speak our minds without exception, how you doing Ian.

Phil, i'm fine matey, hows the new shop coming on etc, best of luck with it and all

    Ian

  13. That looks fantastic, my brother almost bought the R34 from middlehurst nissan around 47k at the time, before he got the Z as made sense money wise, you got any mad mods planned for the Z when you get it?

    Cheers

Nah, promised myself im not gonna go bonkers with the Zed engine wise  Maybe the basic exhaust, induction, plenum spacer, sports cats etc. Want to concentrate on getting it looking just right , although i think the NISMO kit looks stunning already, so i think it will be the little details to make it my own :D

Dave, agree mate, the Nismo kit does really suit the Zed, wouldn't change my kit for any other :teeth:

  14. Can get 28 to 32 on a long run, 17 to 19 gassing it :teeth: , the latter is more fun :lol:

If you are really gassing it you should not be seeing more than 13-15 mpg let alone 17 to 19, so get your foot down! :p

Will promiss to try harder :teeth::teeth::teeth:

  15. Really odd...... Suspension, brakes, wheel barings, ball joints have all been checked and they say they cant find anything wrong!

Still makes the noise though! Its a mystery!

Anti roll bar bushes fail on these regularly, hard to tell sometimes visualy but it will clunk when braking if they have.
