  1. After some Spacers, I'm on 19 inch lmgt4 and on tein coilovers, dropped 25mm so not too much risk of rubbing. Just need the wheels pushed out a touch. Won't get away with more than 20mm, ideally that all round, but may consider 15mm, or one of each for front and rear. Let me know if any of you have a set or a pair you are thinking of flogging. Has to be the hubcentric type that bolt straight on and don't require modification of anything and ideally eibach, ichiba, project kicks or something tried and tested! Cheers!
  2. Spoke to a guy at HKS Europe who actually owns a 350z himself and he said they have never heard of diff clearance issues with the UK Zeds on this exhaust and they have imported and sold loads over the years. Aparently the one I am looking at is the only one they bring into the UK and there is no clearance issues with the diff. The USDM is the one that has fitment issues. I think I will go for it, but something tells me Ian may be on to something. Still trimming the diff fins doesnt sound too bad and if not there will be a way around it! Cheers for your help and hope this helps others in the fututre!
  3. Cheers for the assistance Animal! on looking, the 32009-BN001 is the Hi Power US version as you say, this is a different design and has straight cans. This would be too loud, probably too different to my Buddy Club. The two above are 32009 - AN001 this was an early model that no longer exists, they had to re-design it for the JDM market to meet new JASMA regs. The 32009 - AN002 is the later and current one. I think the is the one with the pipes before the cans apart, rather than together, so fingers crossed this will clear the Diff cover, but probably not Thanks again mate!
  4. Well as you can see here there are 2 different versions.....confused.com!!    I am guessing one you would have to trim the diff cover and the other you wouldn’t?  Guess I better find out which is which, thoughts on this peeps?  Also been looking and researching the diff cover and there isn’t too much in the way of trimming, but I am guessing it would be the front fins that the UK Zeds have that would need trimming? Looks like aluminium, so simple angle grinder?  Cheers
  5. Thanks Ian, I knew you would know Is that a big job, or a pain in the ass?
  6. Thinking of getting this as my buddy club is too loud with th decats. But do any of you guys in the know, know if this will fit on an UK 04 DE Zed GT? Or is it JDM only? http://www.nengun.com/hks/full-dual Cheers!
  7. As nice as Azure is, I am firmly in the Blade camp!
  8. thanks Alex, cheers for all your help and great service!
  9. also some pointers I forgot to mention: On the pulleys, I have seen a few of you guys are doing this soon, the washer that the main crank pulley sits on doesnt sit flush and you will be unsure about this when fitting it, my mechanic Ross was too. But ZMANALEX has said that you will need to make sure it is very tight and it will be fine. I have had no problems thus far, no squeal, no wobble nothing, but I know this has been a problem in the US. Also anyone thinking of these de-cats, you need to make sure you get the lambda spacers, or you will throw the check engine light, I cant beleive I forgot this, but I did, so I am going back on sat to have them stuck on.
  10. No spacers, just 19" LMGT4's 8.5 f and 9.5 r, the standard offset, but I forget right now, is it +15? I know it needs spacers though and it is bugging me, a set of 20mm ones for the rear and maybe 20 or 15 on the front, should get away with no rubbing at this height.
  11. Craig, thanks bud, the Teins are great, cannot reccommend them highly enough, shame on the TB spacer, but I will just change the CAI to make it fit I feel! mbs - insurance wise I was worried, but surprisingly it didnt put my insurance up at all and I told them everything right down to the last detail. I am 30 in May, live in a London postcode with 4 years NCB, history of the car for nearly 3 1/2 years, and underground secure parking in a flat and my insurance was £550 with like for like on all aftermarket parts. This is with Adrian Flux
  12. Well nearly a week after having all my parts fitted by Ross at JAPEX Performance, they are well bedded in and I have given them a good shakedown and a few spirited runs to see how the car performs and I have to say the transformation is pretty amazing! Some of you will have seen this last week: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=47619 So first on to the suspension, Tein Super Street Coilovers with Top Mounts and the Tein EDFC (Electronic Force Dampening Controller), this setup is great and such an improvement over the stock suspension. Even the ride quality has been vastly improved. Most coilovers can be boneshakers and Ross did point this out to me beforehand, but we were both quite surprised how good the ride quality is, it soaks up everything the road puts in its way on hard and even more on soft. Using the EDFC the soft setting is great for cruising along and very comfy and the missus actually commented that the car felt less of the bumps and potholes, I have driven down some roads that I know very well and in places where my body naturally braces for know bumps or jolts in the road, they just havent been there at all. Really impressed!! Handling wise though is when the 2 parts combined really come into action, put this into the hardest setings and the turn-in is so responsive and true, flinging the Zed round corners has never been so much fun. The Zed always hung on in corners, but I do feel it sticks to the road even more now and you can push it that bit more. The car also feels really planted and purposeful now. The EDFC is a great bit of kit and definitely worth adding to a TEIN suspension if you have one. I also like the cool stealth way that Ross installed it! I have only had the car dropped 25mm and set up to the Tein specs online, but I feel these are great the way they are. Now on to the Brakes, Performance Friction front discs and DBA 4000 slotted rear discs, Endless SSS pads all round, Goodridge Lines and Motul RBF660. This combination is proven and I know alot of you have it already, so most will know how good it is, but if anyone is thinking about do this I cannot reccommend it highly enough. They have an extremely great first bite, very responsive, you dont have to even press the pedal on normal driving, just "tickle" it and you will stop! Before bends on hard braking the car responds and feels perfect and I feel you brake alot later, it is how the brakes should be on a car like this. It is, simply put, the best possible brake package without going to a BBK. Add to this that the PF discs look fantastic behind my LGT4's and I'am very happy. Obviously alot more expensive than EBC or the stock discs, but imo well worth the money. Engine wise, I wasn't having a whole lot done, just some Under Drive Pulleys, Samco Hoses, Engine Torque Damper and a Throttle Body Spacer, unfortunately the spacer wouldnt fit with my CAI, so I am going to hang on to it and maybe change the CAI for a different one or just keep it for when\if I go FI. The pulleys look great and for anyone that is not clued up on these, it is basically down to the weight saving against the stock pulleys that makes the difference. You save about 12lbs and after feeling the stock pulley against the new one, I can tell you there is a huge difference and that is the one where it helps. According to peopl in the know (ZMANALEX) it has a similar effect as adding a lightweight flywheel. Not sure if they add much in the way of BHP (it is claimed 5-6bhp) but what I can say is that the car feels more rev happy now and definitely revs up quicker! The hoses and damper were more for engine bay looks than anything. Stillen Short Shift, another great bit of kit, it has actually "fixed" my cars clunky gear chanes in 1st and 2nd from cold, so maybe it was just my shifting! but seriously it gives a new feel and although "stiffer" I like it, it feels more precise and purposeful, slightly shorter throw than stock, but not huge. I love the new Nismo knob though, that feels and looks great. Lastly the Kinetix Resonated De-Cats. I got these mainly for the small power gain they should hopefully provide and they do give a nice higher sporty sound and I have noticed a bit of a power gain since getting the car back, but I feel this is everything coupled together and the ECU will dial it out eventually, however these are great and will add to things when I visit Abbey soon. My only problem is coupled with my Buddy Club Pro Spec III, it is just too much for me in terms of LOUD!! but I knew this would always be the case and I have always planned to change the exhaust for something true dual anyway, so no big deal. Shame really as it is one of the best flowing brand exhausts you can buy and I was hoping it would be ok so I could keep the Buddy Club, as before the cats it sounded great and wasnt that loud, but now even with the baffles in it is a little bit too much for me, others may like it though, I will try and get a vid and a drive by up to see what you think a bit later. So all in all very happy with the car and the mods and after the UpRev new exhaust and CAI I will be on to getting the wheels a refurb and looking at very subtle bodykits, watch this space..................... Thanks again to: Ross at JAPEX Performance www.japexperformance.co.uk ZMANALEX (Alex) Chilired (Sarah) Tony420z (Tony) Craigus (Craig)
  13. done Good luck with it all buddy!! No doubt be in touch for a couple of bits very soon.............
  14. Nice! Some good choices there Something tells me we are both in for fun filled weekends in our Zeds!
  15. Craig, I beleive it is this kit here http://www.japshop.co.uk/acatalog/350Z_ ... n_Kit.html This is what it is now branded as, but it is the same parts and I think they do it in chrome, blue and red. Being as they do nothing for our cars, you may as well get the most bling one you can find! K&N Typhoon I think comes in red too! DBlock, pulleys from Alex as he said
  16. Hi Craig, i beleive it is a Fujita or Simota one, I got it from ZMANALEX a while back, it gives a really nice deeper tone and it is red if nothing else haha! Cheers again for the parts buddy!
  17. Thanks for the comments! Really cant wait till Friday to get it out on the road and see what it feels like when all set up. Hopefully give the beast a new lease of life! I've just got to where we all get to, you know the car inside out on the road and you just get used to the power, the handling and the braking, so then you only crave for more. I think doing these mods, some styling mods and maybe boost and the car will feel like a new car anyway, but with that sentimental value still intact! *Sarnie - PF discs unfortunately only come for the front rotors, so had to go with DBA on the rear, small price to pay for having those PF discs on the front though! If I find out that PF start doing rear discs one day then ofcourse I will get them!
  18. I know I am like a kid on Christmas morning at the moment, just a shame I have to wait till Friday to get her back! Been meaning to mention your username too! Im actually named after the man himself, born FA Cup final day 1981 against City!
  19. ....................... Surrey, Kent, Scotland and all over!! Well after nearly 4 glorious years of ownership, I WONT be doing one of those depressing “it’s time to sell†threads...... I have, like we all do, been toying lately with what to do on the car situation, get a 370z, wait a year or two and maybe get an R35, get a later model 350z. But after all of my deliberation, I came to the conclusion that I just can’t bring myself to sell my lovely Zed and even if I could, literally the only car that I would want over my Zed right now is an R35 and that is just a bit out of my reach for the time being. So I have decided to start treating my Zed (and myself obviously) to a bit of a transformation, brakes, handling, engine, styling and maybe eventually FI.....maybe. So in current state: I have a Cold Air Induction Kit, Buddy Club Pro Spec Exhaust and Motordyne Plenum Spacer installed, which all coupled together sound great. Other than that, everything else is standard. Over the last month or so, I have been putting together parts that I feel will enhance the car in the first stage of what I want to do and I think that apart from Headers, I will have pretty much done everything I can to the engine in terms of “bolt on†NA tuning, plus a great brake upgrade, suspension which is adjustable to what I am using it for and some other bits and bobs. So what is in the boxes? This little lot: The Suspension will be a Tein Super Street coilover setup with an EDFC controller, which means I can control the stiffness of the ride from within the car on the fly: The Brakes, I am sticking with the very good Brembo set up, just changing the Discs to Performance Friction in the front and DBA4000 Slotted in the rear, with Endless SSS pads all round, Goodridge brakelines and Motul RBF660 fluid: Power wise, there isn’t much more I can do, “bolt on†wise, than the parts I have already, before going to Abbey for an UpRev and tune. But the last bits on the list were Kinetix De-Cats, Throttle Body Spacer and Under Drive Pulleys and Belts, a colour coded engine torque damper and Samco hoses were thrown in for some engine bay colour and a Stillen Short Shifter just for a sportier feel when driving, also gives me an excuse to fit the Nismo knob I have knocking around!: The Zed is off for a couple of days to see Ross @ JAPEX Performance in Abbotts Langley (forum trader) to get all this lot fitted and sorted and I will report back with impressions on everything after a spin on Friday, Ross has also said he will take some pics during the process, so that should make for interesting viewing! Then it will be off to Abbey for that UpRev and tune to tie all this together, before starting to look at the styling phase, I have a feeling this is going to get expensive................... Big thanks to the following Traders and Members for parts, help and advice and the usual prompt service from the respected traders, excellent as always and I will be putting feedback on your pages!: ZMANALEX (Alex) ChilliRed (Sarah) - Thanks for the tea and for seeing us on your birthday ;0) Tony420z (Tony) Craigus (Craig) Thanks for looking!
  20. Me and 2 mates decided to have a little drive and lunch after we cleaned the cars the other day and took a few pics at The **** Of The North pub near Potters Bar. I am no photographer by the way, still not got my head around how to use my Canon G10 properly, so most are on auto setting. Anyway I know you guys love your pics so here goes, enjoy:
  21. If I owned that car I would not be changing it one bit, that has always been one of my faves!!
  22. I'll take the spacer and the damper Cheers
  23. Thanks for your reply Mark! I know it is going to be loud, maybe I should have a look at a different exhaust eventually, although I run with the bungs in most of the time and that actually sounds great. You carry stock of the berk resonated decats and hfcs don't you too? Would you mind dropping me over the price of those and the art pipes on their own. I think the buddy club is very different to stock, it has it's own y section that I have on the car at present so I may have to stick with that, i remember it was hard to find replacement gaskets for. I will give you a call to book in this week, just need to look when my mot is tonight, would make sense to get this done first I guess. Also on a separate subject, I know you have fitted the tein super street kit with edfc before. Did you lose the oem strut when you fitted this? Cheers Glenn
  24. Thanks Vik I normally would just go straight to one of our main traders and have bought many things from Alex before, service is always excellent!! Just that brakepoint are supposedly doing a deal on dba's that is very good, however probably too good to be true by the looks of things! The xs was just as they were gold, nothing more than that lol!!
  25. has anyone used these guys www.brakepoint.co.uk before? Looking to get some DBA discs either Xs or 4600 Any feedback would be helpful as they don't seem to have any contact details?
