  1. Very nice...just followed you from Tescos petrol station at grove green to the Hilton roundabout wheels looked real nice  Was gonna follow a bit further but my petrol light was on as the petrol station was too busy for me to wait

Hello mate! - I wondered if you was a member on here ;)

  2. its the length of the OEM studs - there isnt a deep enough recess in the new alloy for them.

thats what i meant  but explained poorly :surrender:

:lol: I knew they wouldnt fit so its not an issue - I have sold them already :teeth:

but I thought it might be the nut, and I could maybe get different bolt on spacers etc

but now it looks like I need longer studs - not a problem etc - just wondered how hard they were to fit

  3. Cheers guys

I have just whipped them off again and test fitted old Eibach 20mm spacers to see why they wont fit - and discovered that is nothing to do with the spacer nuts fitting flush; because they do - its the length of the OEM studs - there isnt a deep enough recess in the new alloy for them.

I want to come out about 15-20mm which is far too much for a slip on spacer (I wont get the nuts on!), so my only choice is tapping in longer studs - has anyone actually done this? How hard is it to fit longer studs? (DIY or garage job?)

    cheers, David

  4. spacers and lowering ;)

Give me a chance - only fitted a couple of hours ago!!:lol:

I did say in original post that coilovers are next (to lower), then I will see how much room I have in arches and then fill with spacers :D

  5. Further to this post about Huskys old wheels I bought viewtopic.php?f=61&t=38169 - I have just had a full refurb done. I decided on gloss black (powder coat) with machined rims and am very happy with the results :teeth:

A very big thanks to Spit and Polish in Tonbridge (http://www.spitandpolish.co.uk/) who did the work - all the guys there are very friendly and helpful - and they deserve the reputation they already have of being one the best alloy refurb companies in the country (if not THE best!).

I have just been out to take some pics (iphone, not best quality) - pics dont really do them justice...

I am going for some coilovers next (when my wallet recovers!) and once fitted will see how much room I have for spacers

    David :teeth:

ps a couple of the pics show marks on the alloy - thats just where I have rinsed then with water after fitting and didnt wipe down!

  6. If its only £300 for new locks and keys I'll be amazed sorry if this is a bit negative and not what you wanna hear but a guy I work with lost his Volvo keys (I think its a C30) and he was quoted for new locks and new keys............£1175 +VAT!!!!!

    Hope they turn up mate!

+1 - it costs almost £200 to get a spare key cut and coded from Nissan, and that USING the original key!

Sorry to say, but I think if you went to Nissan you would be looking at a hell of a lot more than £300 for new locks, ignition barrel, keys(s) and programming! :surrender:

  7. Hi all,

I am now looking at installing a Double din HU. I was looking at spending circa £200 on the HU and would like any recommendations as to which ones are

any good for that price.

Also do i need one with Pre-outs for the conversion on the Bose?

If you can even find a Double Din HU for less than £200, I cant imagine it will be much good mate

Bose conversion kit (PAC ROEM adaptor for speakers) is about £35 - but I believe most people here change speakers anyway

some info here: http://www.350z-tech.com/zwiki/Category ... lectronics

  8. mate - I wasn't being pedantic but your previous post or link didn't show that info so the OP wouldn't have understood etc

******at this point you need to count the CEL light flashes, think it starts by falshes 10 times slowly to indicate it is beginning then faster for the code. For example if it flashes 10 times slowly, 3 times fast, 2 times fast, 5 times fast 10 times slow then the code would be 325, then just match to the code list.********

    ;)

  9. the bit that says there are 2 ways to get codes, either using a scan tool or by using the manual method :snack:

    Thats CLEARING CODES ;)

    quote "Clearing Codes

There are several ways to clear ECU error codes.

    Scan Tool

If using a scan tool, follow tool manufacturer’s instructions to clear Codes.

    Manual Method..."

  10. if you read the link it tells you how to read the code before resetting it, also has a list of the codes. No need for a OBDII reader in most cases ;)

Where does it say that

In the first paragraph it says: "You will need an OBDII scanner in order to pull the error codes"

Cant see any other reference - unless I am being totally blonde tonight

  11. http://www.350z-tech.com/zwiki/ECU_Reset

Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch ON and wait 3 seconds.

Repeat the following two procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds:

Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD).

    Fully release the accelerator pedal.

Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking.

Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)

    Wait about 10 seconds.

Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.

Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).

Turn ignition switch to OFF position and now you can start the car. The CEL light should be gone.

Not sure its wise to just reset the ECU - the error warning is there for a reason. You will need an OBDII scanner to see what the error is - this device plugs in just below and to the right of the steering wheel (most garages/mechanics will have one). Check error code again the list posted. If there is no error code, then it should be safe to reset the ECU as described as above. Very often the error is something non-vital and normally electrical, but it could be something serious so get it checked with a scanner ;)

  12. Awsome tanks here guy's, I love marine set up's! Tropical can be great, but the vibrant colours of marine just blow you away!

I was always warned off marine, not because of cost, but because of upkeep maintenance such as constantly checking water chemical levels etc, apparently a lot of work. Is this true? (in comparison to a tropical)

Once the system is setup an mature - checks only really need to be done once a week etc.

Checks include: ammonia levels, nitrite levels, nitrate level - copper, pH, temp, salinity, phosphate and so on! But the bigger the tank, the more stable it is - and a fortnightly 10% water change should keep everything right

  13. I started tropical and went marine as well - had to sell up when I got divorced though :surrender:

Marine can be extremely expensive - my tank was 6ft x 3ft x 3ft and I reckon over 5 years it cost me approx £7k -live rock alone (fijian) cost £1200  and dont get me started on the filtration and plumbing! :scare:

At the time though, it was well worth the money - I would spend hours staring at all the critters that came out when the lights went out and only the moon light was on - very therapeutic!

When I move again (soon hopefully) I'm going to get a new setup - oh god - more money! :headhurt:

    I'm selling mine ;)

half the fun is in the build - I will be starting from scratch again when I do it ;)
