  1. They are plenty quick enough as standard, even the Auto. You will have fun ! Just note the standard traction control works on a delayed reaction and your already plenty sideways when it kicks in :-) Just watch it in Winter !
  2. Supra huh ? Ok, I've been a member of Uk Supra Owners Club for over ten years. I'm a car dealer so I've had literally dozens of them, perhaps as many as 50. They are bullet proof mechanically unless they have been messed around with, so buy a standard one. The build quality is first rate, much better than Nissan The Twin Turbo is a rapid motor car even in standard trim and would out pace a 350z, but if you were to remove the cats you gain an extra 30bhp straight away. You will need a Fuel Cut Defender which is about £70 because the ECU is set to cut the fuel when the boost hits 14 psi - standard is 11 psi and it will hit 14 psi with the cats removed. From here you can increase the boost and the standard Turbos habe been run up to 21 psi by some group members, although you are putting them under additional strain and shortening their lifespan. But here you are looking at close on 400 bhp with minimal expense. From here many people take the big single route for even more BHP but you are now driving a car which is slower in poor conditions than a standard one because its such a handful so you need to ask yourself what you really want from the car. I wouldnt bother with a none Turbo unless you are going to put a big Single on straight away - a conversion which is becoming more popular because none turbo models are so cheap. Make sure the conversion is done properly, the compression must be lowered etc. Turbofiit.co.uk have done several for group members and know their way around Supras. They even drag race one of their own big single conversions. As usual with imports watch out for back street accident repairs in Japan and low grade paintwork. In many ways the Supra is a better car than the 350z, but then it was getting on for twice the price when new, so thats to be expected. Only age goes against them now and really good ones are getting hard to find. Manuals are quite rare and always command a premium, but sell easier when you want a change. Highly recommended ! If you need more info just mail me. HTH
  3. Very funny man, I have to see this. Altogether now : "Throw the Jews down the well, then my country can be free..." Quality ( he is Jewish of course )
  4. You just did ( I'm a Nissan specialist dealer with a Nissan approved service centre )
  5. Nissan won't benefit from MOT work ( other than parts sales ) and it's not down to Nissan what fails and what doesn't - this is entirely the opinion of the MOT tester who is most likely an employee of the dealership and not connected with Nissan at all. It is possible he has been instructed to be very strict by his employers, but it's his neck on the line if he gets caught out failing things unecessarily or passing things which should fail. It's also a bit of a grey area as MOT testers are only human and opinions differ. What we have to bear in mind is that main dealers are used to looking at nearly new cars whereas most independent testing stations are used to looking at much older cars. To the main dealer an 80% worn disc is nearing the end of it's life and needs replacing, whereas to the other guy it still has 20% left and might last a few more months. On top of all this is the compensation culture we now live in where the customer would have the dealer in court if his brakes failed a couple of months after the MOT test... I'm not defending the dealer, I'm just giving another point of view.
  6. The use of none genuine parts WILL invalidate your warranty.
  7. Absolute classic, I was in hysterics when he said that. The look on the poor BBC blokes face was a picture
  8. Ah, now you're talking my language - been there, done that, got the STD
  9. These are 'genuine clips' from council complaint letters: My bush is really overgrown round the front and my back passage has fungus growing in it. He's got this huge tool that vibrates the whole house and I just can't take it anymore. It's the dog's mess that I find hard to swallow. I want some repairs done to my cooker as it has backfired and burnt my knob off. I wish to complain that my father hurt his ankle very badly when he put his foot in the hole in his back passage. And their 18 year old son is continually banging his balls against my fence. I wish to report that tiles are missing from the outside toilet roof. I think it was bad wind the other night that blew them off. My lavatory seat is cracked, where do I stand? I am writing on behalf of my sink, which is coming away from the wall. Will you please send someone to mend the garden path. My wife tripped and fell on it yesterday and now she is pregnant. I request permission to remove my drawers in the kitchen. 50% of the walls are damp, 50% have crumbling plaster and 50% are plain filthy. I am still having problems with smoke in my new drawers. The toilet is blocked and we cannot bath the children until it is cleared. Will you please send a man to look at my water, it is a funny colour and not fit to drink. Our lavatory seat is broken in half and is now in three pieces. I want to complain about the farmer across the road; every morning at 6am his c o c k wakes me up and its now getting too much for me. The man next door has a large erection in the back garden, which is unsightly and dangerous. Our kitchen floor is damp. We have two children and would like a third so please send someone round to do something about it.. I am a single woman living in a downstairs flat and would you please do something about the noise made by the man on top of me every night. Please send a man with the right tool to finish the job and satisfy my wife. I have had the clerk of works down on the floor six times but I still have no satisfaction. This is to let you know that our lavatory seat is broke and we can't get BBC2.
  10. You guys are nuts !!! Whats wrong with BMWs, they are cracking cars which is why they are so succesful. Every single BMW I've had has been a good drive, and we as driving enthusiats should be pro BMW because every model in the range is rear wheel drive ( except the Mini of course ). Stop being silly about this "get over the badge" business. If it's a good drive what does it matter.
  11. Thanks to you all. Sounds like I'm going to have to try one for myself as there are lots of different opinions. I do like soft tops, must admit, so I'll buy one and see how it goes.
  12. I've just sold a Coupe and am considering a Roadster next. I would just like to know from anyone who has driven both, does the Roadster suffer from scuttle shake at all ? Any additional comments would be appreciated, particularly concerning leaks, road noise etc. Thanks in advance.
  13. Try www.247spares.co.uk Enter your requirements on the website and several breakers will call you back. Write down the prices and phone numbers and wait until the phone stops ringing before you make your choice. HTH
  14. The sat nav is the same across all Nissan models. I don't have a problem with it to be honest, but I have not used the Alpine system.
  15. They use an unmarked Imprezza around Kirby Lonsdale to catch the bikers...personally if I was confident they didn't have my reg I would go for it. Scooby v's R1 on a real road, with traffic = no contest
  16. Looks the business. Are we going to get it over here ?
  17. Yes Jacko, thats me mate. I'll give you my web address if you want it...
  18. They have just started making trainers for Lesbians...they are called Nikes for Dykes. They have 50% longer tongues and you can get them off with one finger...
  19. Good question...firstly I should point out that there are no traders "like me" I get cars from a variety of sources including Auctions, private advertisements, and from other garages who I have built up relationships with over the years. For example if someone were to trade in a 350Z ( or any other Nissan ) at a local VW garage, they would phone me for a bid on the car and and it would come to me when they got the car in. I also get invited to the Nissan closed sales, which are a little expensive but we get good quality cars through them. I am in Scotland fornightly for the Nissan Finance sales which consist primarily of lease cars aged 1 to 3 years. These cars have been on contract hire with maintenance included, so are generally a very good buy but you pay good money for them. And yes, I do search Auto Trader on a daily basis looking for private sellers who have undervalued their cars, or need a quick sale. In fact the 350Z I just sold came from just such an advert. I saw it advertised for a couple of weeks and decided to phone the guy. He wasn't having much luck selling it so I kindly explained that most people spending £20k for a car want finance, have a part exchange and they want the back up of buying from a reputable dealer...and made him an offer. He phoned back a couple of hours later and accepted, so I went to get it. I don't just buy Nissan. I stock about 30 Nissans on average, but I also keep about 30 other cars to offer some variety.
  20. Oh yes indeedy. The guy mentioned excessive road noise after the test drive, so I gave him the forum addy and told him it was a well documented problem with the Bridgestones. I wouldn't have known that myself without coming on here, so thanks for that. I'll be out looking for another straight away, in fact I've seen an 05 plate Roadster with low mileage ( 6k ) that seems worth a look.
  21. Just as I was getting attached to it some nasty person bought my Z. I've only had it two weeks... This is the down side of being a car dealer. On the bright side, it gives me the perfect excuse to go find another

Superb device. I want one. Dear Santa...
  23. Nice motors. Not quite in the same league but I have to drive past my neighbours houses every morning, next door has a 911 Carrera and a Cayenne Turbo ( dodge pot, never leaves the house, dunno what he does but I'm sure he's dodgy ), next door to him has a Gallardo and Landcruiser ( owns a company called Law Line, does PI claims and stuff, no win no fee type of thing - this guy just turned 30 ! ), and next to him has a Bentley Continental and Bentley Azure aswell as a 700bhp Supra ( owns a chain of carpet shops ) ! And there's poor old me in my 350z, the poor relation... On the bright side my car is paid for The guy with the Gallardo pays £6000 a month for it !!! Nutter, spends more time polishing it than driving it. Still upsets me driving past them all every day though...

    Buying Advice

I know Coventus, they have two trading names selling the exact same cars and they are quite expensive for imports. I don't know their reputation though so can't comment on the standard of their cars or their service but having two trading names seems a bit strange to me. Your well into UK cars at that budget. I currently have an 04 plate with 14k miles in Azure with GT pack for £19,995. Pictures and more details here : www.TheGlenNissan.com
  25. Quite the contrary, I have had literally hundreds of imports over the years but you have to be really careful. I don't think I have ever owned an import that has not been painted. Like I said the general public cannot spot paint repairs which is why they get away with it. Your experience with imports being mint v's Uk cars being scruffy is the exact opposite to mine. The imports I have seen had very inconsistent paintwork and of course I attend the import auctions and see the state of the cars as they land in the Uk. It is a sweeping statement to say that every import has had paint, so I will refine it. 90% of imports I have seen in the last 20 years have been painted Once again the issue is not the paint, it's why it has been painted that counts and you need to be able to make an assesment by looking at the car. This is not something that the general public is qualified to do, it's a minefield out there and people need to know this. It's bad enough buying Uk cars - of course loads of Uk cars have been painted too but you have half a chance of serious damage being recorded on HPI. I have nothing against imports per se, you pays your money, you takes your choice, I'm just saying be extra careful and take an expert with you.
