    Cams

Good points, which all explain why I actually went to aftermarket cams -- more air (and fuel) in and more air out. In an FI application, swapping cams is a good thing (duration and lift increased). In an NA application, you may very well reduce performance. Changing cams is not necessarily a bad thing in N/A or F/I forms. In fact it can be a very good thing when done correctly. My point is that it is important to have a depth of understanding of what needs to be done in order to make it successful. Choosing the correct components to suit the desired outcome is crucial to prevent disappointment. We have considerable amount of knowledge and experience in this area and will be happy to advise anone that needs it.

    Cams

Camshaft design and selection is absolutely crucial. Most people get tempted into choosing too much duration on the mistaken assumption that "more is better". Generally speaking, longer duration camshafts reduce the dynamic compression ratio leading to less torque and power unless the static c/r is raised to compensate. Another aspect for consideration when using longer duration cams to gain higher rpm, is that of the ability of the engine to breathe efficiently and hold together at that speed. The point is that to make full use of aftermarket camshafts generally requires additional supportive hardware. The primary considerations should - be what other supporting engine modifications have you done or are prepared to do, and what torque delivery characteristics are you hoping to achieve? Please PM me if you need any specific help. Mark
  7. UK is going downhill as a country and in martial arts imo. Karate has gone downhill since it turned into sport, and the politics in martial arts nowadays is appalling. KUGB and EKGB have ruined everything in my opinion. I dont plan to stick around in the UK for long, its just a shame that Japan is so expensive to live, but they probably have the best code of conduct than anywhere else in the world Is car parts cheaper in Japan than over here or is it more I have to concur with you on the poliitcal issues. I found that life outside of the main tourist centres is actually incredibly inexpensive. I was staying with Yasamoto at a place called Yanago in Tottori province (a small provincial seaside town). I was amazed at how cheap it was to live.
  8. Oh yes, I almost forgot - the Japanese are fiercelyproud of their country (and rightly so too in my opinion). Personally I have to say that I am embarased and appalled in equal measures about the UK.
  9. Fantastic stuff. Hmmmmm Japan - hardly any crime, no grafiti, no litter, public transport that's fit for purpose, roads in good condition, Govt departments that work for the good of the population etc etc. Much more importantly there is a pervading sense of integrity, trust, decency and honour among the people. Prettly much the very antithesis of life in the UK. You have a PM Sir Zedrush
  10. Cool. I had the pleasure of training with Yasamoto (10th Dan Iaido/Ju Jitsu) in Japan for a couple of weeks last year - had a great time
  11. No I didn't see your thread before. Looks like thee and me speak the same language May I ask if you know how to use your Katanas?
  12. Liking your avatar and signature by the way Zedrush. Are you a bit of a Japophile?
  13. Oh I see. I don't know how much power it will achieve because it will depend on which brand you have bought. The good news is that the FCON will enable everything to be optimised so that the performance will be as good as it can be.
  14. We have installed quite a few of these with good success. The important thing is to buy buy it from an authorised dealer so that you can get proper support, and get it calibrated by an authorised Power Writer Dealer. Hope this helps a little
  15. It seems to me that there are two separate issues here. Firstly the build up of carbon deposits eventually leading to the potential the issues I mentioned before. I suspect this will only be a very long term problem due to the adaptave spark strategies built into the ecu which alters the ignition advance to suit changing circumstances. Secondly there is the nastiness encountered due to an engine seizure after allowing the engine oil to run out (if not checked and replenished regularly).
  16. Oddly enough, the engines we have seen this issue on so far have been pre Rev Up. The way forward is to find the cause methinks
  17. I would say that is a healthy indicator. Hope this helps a little
  18. This is the 2nd engine we have seen so far with this issue On Behalf of H5 What are the implications are of those deposits in the engine over time? Cheers, Rob. Hi Rob, the carbon build up is the result of oil consumption, and can ultimately lead to an increase in compression ratio and "hot spots" in the combustion chambers - which can cause detonation.
  19. We like to add little "finishing touches" like this special treatment to some of the metal components. The cost is disproprtional to the value - it only costs a few Pounds to do but it looks a "million dollars" so is well worth the effort
