  1. Welcome to the retiree club Graham, and yes the years you have put in towards keeping this forum going and the organization of many events and drive-outs (thoroughly enjoyed those with you :drive1) which has been second to none. :king:

And you still have arguably one of the best modded 350s.B)

    A true Legend.:notworthy:

Pleased to see that one Z got along at least - did you talk to the owner? I think he's on this forum.

Were you there quite early? Later in the morning the car park became pretty full.

Delayed a bit and got there just before 10 (divert off the A25 at Brockham turn-off with half a dozen police vehicles blocking A25 both ways and mega congestion in side roads) and left around 11.30 when cars started leaving.

Yeah, chatted with the 370 owner - think his name was Neal and a forum user? and yes, he had a 350 before.  Chatted with quite a few owners (no one I knew was there) so name might be muddled :surrender:

  3. The Cayman my budget allowed was a 2018 'base' model but dealer specced with most of the options on offer - critically including the Sport Chrono and Sports exhaust which transformed the enjoyment in Sports mode from 'good neighbour' mode ;)

Brill, have you got any better pictures of the bolster wear on the drivers seat please?

Really interested and I’m only in Coventry so not a million miles away. If the bolster wear isn’t too bad then I’d come collect them Sunday/Monday next week if you’re about then?

Don't lose heart with the sale - at least you can be bolstered by this ^^^^ interest.

  5. Back in 'em good ole days a lot of us were lured into 350's by VBH. ;):D

A grainy vid now, but for those who young-uns out there here is what/who turned a lot of us on.......driving the great roads around the Elan Valley  that so many of us enjoyed in our 350/370 days :drive1

Max would have been screaming spitting blood wanting to punch people and generally throwing every toy out the pram.

Have we really seen that in his character? Marko YES!  But with Max, still relatively young, he is surprisingly laid-back and saves his aggression for the track - no quarters given but does not resort to the out and out 'no-quarters given style' of what Michael Schumacher resorted to on track on occasions.

Max is not as dignified as Lewis in defeat but then Lewis has so much experience and knows racing is not just not how well you perform on track. For me, Max has brought an excitement back into F1 and has tamed his car to put on a show that is what top-level racing should be about, not relying on engine power alone to get the results. Rather like Alonso in his heyday.

    See, even Lewis agrees:

I think the rule book is fine, its the dumbass wielding it that needs sorting out !

Is it?  Then why are different decisions being made by the Stewards, who are never the same from race to race? We are constantly told they have a wealth of information us viewers never get to see - maybe that is the problem - too much to consistently digest in the heat of the moment.

And it is wholly wrong that the Race Director can be lobbied during the course of a race by teams.  But when the rules are being interpreted differently  amongst the decision makers, that clearly points to the rule book being too open to interpretation. Yes, this final race was certainly not one of Masi's finest by changing his actions, again no doubt down to the pressure by those around him in his 'office'.

First and foremost, make the white lines that edge the tracks are the limit - if all 4 tyres are over, track limits are exceeded, period.  The only exception should be when a car is forced over, either by others (a penalty for them), mechanical issues or safety and maybe first lap corners . There are enough cameras on board together with TV coverage around F1 tracks these days to pick out the guilty party(s).

All that aside, the racing this year with the tussle between Lewis and Max has made for good viewing - let's hope the 2022 cars make the racing all the more exciting for all the drivers and fans.

  8. If Lewis had won, no doubt RB would protested the first lap.

So Max won the driver's championship, but the fact Mercedes won the manufacturer's championship seems overlooked. Think of the money they will make on the back of their 8th win.

Maybe Mercedes might want to reflect on the fact that Lewis will work a lot harder next year to get his 8th Championship, as otherwise he will not have won all the titles in F1 there was to be won......

It's the rule book that needs sorting out!

  9. A bit off topic, but recently I had a similar experience paying for parking that uses cameras.  The payment machine would not recognize a 0 (zero) in my number plate, but when the better half suggested using a O, hey presto it worked! Bizarrely, the receipt showed the zero correctly!!

  10. Been around long enough on here to know from feedback that Zed engines prefer the 97+ plus octane for longevity particularly if using 5k+ rpm regularly.

IMHO, and like others have said ^^^, it is not worth the risk to use lower octanes other than in emergencies simply to save on fill-ups, and especially now most 350 engines will have a lot of mileage on them now.

"If you drove on a wet day and the water got in the disks it could literral be rusty water spinning out of the vents - thats why it would be in line with the disks. "

Yes, in my experience disc brakes are prone to causing this inner wheel staining, but not those with drum brakes. It is more evident after a run following cleaning - no doubt the soapy water helps shift the build up of pad residue within the discs.  A decent wheel brush will easily clean off the staining.

  12. Put a few miles on the clock with lots of gear changes to see if the 'dead' feel disappears. 12 months sitting idle is never a good thing for wear and tear items.

That said, sounds like you have anticipated the box coming out anyway at some point, which is your fall-back option.

    Good luck

  13. Hi John  Well I remember you (renowned stainless steel exhaust polisher, amongst other things you did for members) well, but maybe you may not  remember this (very) old ex-mod  :wheelchair: no, not quite in the wheelchair yet and still remember with great fondness the Jockland Hoons and Welsh road trips that seem a long time ago.

But as you say, it is great that the forum is still going strong and in very capable hands and I am always following what members, new and old are doing, as my 10 years of so with two 350's and then a 370 gave me some great memories as they were something special during my fifty six years of car ownership.

So good to see another member from the very beginning of the forum in 2006, looking in here again.
