  1. My tax runs out at end of month so renewed today.

Got caught out last year when it went up £20. Tried to renew on day of budget but couldn't as my insurance ran out at end of month too.

This year I renewed insurance last week so I got the documents through at the weekend.

  2. I've done just over 12k on the Stones and need new rears fronts still have just over 4mm. I dont know how anyone gets 20+k out of them. My daily drive drive is 10m each way on twisty 'B's and straights 'A.

Phew, its not just me then!

Just wanted to be sure there wasnt an issue with the car....

I'll have a word with a tyre specialist a some have suggested.

My rears seem to be very bare at under 15k miles. I wouldn't say I drive the car that hard.

Fronts don't exactly look great either :(

  3. breakdown cover is better found via Autoaid. £32 a year B) and that's for any car you drive B) and if you are married it's for both B)B)

Not married byt g/f has cover from Hyundai :)

I didn't need it for the Clio as that is covered for 3yrs by Renault/AA. Didn't have time to search for the very cheapest :D

  4. I got quoted from the same guy as douglas today at £60 per wheel.

My only gripe is he said it doesn't matter what kind of car the wheel is on.....

Then proceeds to tell me that if he was doing the wheel on my Clio it would be £40 and if on a Lambo it would be £80

Douglas.... did your £60 include an AA discount ?

  5. Your postcode can make a massive difference, everything's bloody expensive in London! And you can't even drive that fast 'cause of all the potholes and double parking!

Try driving on the M8 everyday - voted either the worst or 2nd worst motorway in Britain just the other week.

People would think you were drunk the way you drive if you try and avoid all the craters in the road :D

  6. I just took out policy with Budget for £694. 32 9 yrs NCD and one SP30.

Mosy internet websites started at low £500's but by the time u add in No claims protection and few other bits they all go up!

Did you try direct line and first alternative ? I'm exact same as you apart from 10yrs NCD and location and renewal is £435 with protected NCD.

  7. I have the guy coming out on Thursday to quote for 2 alloy repairs.

I'm tempted to ask for a price to fix 2 million stone chips on the bonnet. If I do I'll let you know the price although I'm more likely to look at a full respray for the bonnet.

  8. Just your luck with insurance but I'm with Privilege the now - 10yrs NCD, garaged, prot NCD, £500xs, 31/m, SP30 - £435 (with additional driver which brought it down slightly)

First Alternative were pretty close too and I used to be with them.

  9. Thats why more northerly Tescos dont have 99ron unleaded - Too far from Greenergy's distribution so Tesco source elsewhere.

My local Tesco in Glasgow has 99RON

Do you mean like John O'Groats northerly? :teeth:

That must be a recent change - I had a bad tempered email exchange with somebody from customer relations at Greenergy or Tesco when I complained that we could not get 99Ron anywhere in Scotland. That must have been about November last year. I have not seen any on sale in the Falkirk area.

I thought same as you Jim but it looks like they are breaking into Scotland, here's the latest supply list....

It appears I could get it at Bathgate - but at 88.9 for their NUL against Shell at 86.9 in Edinburgh I think I will wait until they start to stock it in Edinburgh :D

  10. that's got me slightly worried because I got a reasonable quote from confused and now I fear it may be rubbish.

Sometimes confused.com quotes are accurate and sometimes not so best to double check.

Got an e-mail back from Post Office @ budget insurance - guess who provide their insurance......

Telling me that the confused.com / insurance supermarket quotes are not always accurate - I sent another reply back with words to the effect that their quotes are not very accurate either :D

  11. when i first bought it, I had 1 yr ncb and the best I could find was........ £1.5k with....... £1.4k excess! And I tried EVERYONE

Was 28 then, but still :scare:

    1yrs NCD on a Z :D

I have 10yrs NCD and Post Office want over £1700

  12. Renewal time at end of month. I don't expect to get better than who I am with the now but thought I would try confused.com anyway.

I can renew for £435 and the Post Office quote at confused was £485 with £50 postal order cash back.

Wasn't really interested with no saving but clicked on the link anway. The quote was to be £485 with a £500 xs. When I confirmed my details with no changes the xs jumped to £750 and the quote went to £1762.78.

That has cheered me up enough to make me wash the car now :D

  13. Second car? The zed is for driving!!! Why keep the mile low for someone else benefit!!!

I couldn't agree more! Why spare your Z for the next owner?

I'm unlikely to replace the car as after paying for it I moved house and took on a much bigger mortgage as an investment for the future.

I will have the car for as long as I want it so by keeping the miles low, hopefully that will be for a long time to come.

That doesnt make sense. You buy a car to keep it for a lengthy period of time yet you drive another car to keep the miles down? The only benefit of keeping the miles down is for resale value but as that not an issue why drive another car. These cars are good for about 20 yrs worth of driving!!!

I do at least 20k miles pa - so keep the car for 10 years and that's 200k.

I can see the bills with that mileage as well as massive fuel bills.

There's also times where you go places that you wouldn't want to leave a Z parked on the street, sometimes overnight as it's likely to be vandalised where a normal everyday Clio doesn't get noticed.

Then there's days that you need more than 2 seats.

Plenty of reasons to run a 2nd car.

  15. Where I live i can count the number of Z's i have seen on one hand :)

We don't all live in Belgium :p

    Although I wouldn't mind, nice country :)

    Pretty weird dough.

There are more 911's on the streets here than 350Z's

Never saw any 911's when I was there. Did see plenty bangers :D
