  1. So, this thread is useless without pics, right? Sorry, not going to get any just yet - it's cold and miserable and with work taking priority it's normally dark before I get to see the car. However, I intend to keep this thread up to date with 1 post per month on what has been completed. I'll add the placeholder straight after this post, and will edit it throughout the rest of December with updates as they occur.
  2. Hi all! So ive been lurking on here for several months now, but as I now own a 350Z I thought it was best to kick off a sort-of Project thread as I plan to do some work to the car I’ve just purchased. Happily though, a lot of the hard work has already been done for me!! The car I purchased used to belong to MartinW on here. It was then sold to Rich260 (also a member on here) before I purchased it this week. (Dec 17) Thanks go to both of these guys for looking after the car very well - it may be nearly 14 years old but it really doesn’t look it! I’ve pulled together a full spec list of the car as it stands today, and listed it below. I’ll keep this thread up to date with photos, changes and updates, and hope to meet some of you in the future at any local meets and shows. 3. Thanks. I’ll let the experts tell me what I need to do though, if they say it’s not needed then I’ll go with that.
  4. Spoken to Mark @ Abbey. This is by design due to the removal of the boost controller and piggy back ECU. It’s a controlled bleed as the standard ECU cannot control boost levels. So nothing to worry about which is good. Just looked like something was missing! Maybe I can fit a musical instrument to it for pure comedy affect haha! (Nb I won’t be doing this, it’s a joke)
  5. According to this doc (which states it is for the “extreme” version of the kit, the vacuum hose I think is coming from the wastegates which are “T’eed” together under the engine. but the other non-exteme version of the kit appears to have a boost control solenoid which sits next to the BoV. I don’t have the solenoid, but doubt I have the extreme kit either. http://www.airpowersystems.com/350z/aps350z-tts-09/install/guide.htm part of me just wants to remove the t or plug it up and see what happens, but I’d rather know what it is first. Boost peak is about 0.8 bar (although that’s going on previous owner rather than personal experience - this weather doesn’t allow for boosting or driving hard) but APS recommend 8psi max (about 0.55 bar) - so maybe something else has been done outside of these guides. any help is appreciated. Cheers.
  6. Hi folks, I am now the proud owner of a 350Z that used to belong to MartinW on theee very forums. It has the APS TT setup plus a load of other tweaks but I have a question I’m hoping some of you may be able to shed some light on. There is a vacuum hose near to the APS BoV/recirc valve that has a t-piece in - but one of the 3 branches of the t-piece isn’t connected to anything at all. I cannot trace 1 of the hoses as it disappears down the front of the engine bay somewhere, but the other connected hose is connected to a nipple on the bottom of the throttle body duct, just under the MAF connection. Having found multiple installation manuals and guides on the APS site I cannot for the life of me work out why there is a t-piece nor where the other connection should go to. Car drives great and the previous owner (Rich260) nor I could understand what this was for. With engine running, there doesn’t appear to be any suction or blowing from the open end of the t-piece either. so do any of you have an idea? Thanks in advance
  7. You can’t blame a man for trying, right? Im in no rush to buy, and have missed out on a couple of gems recently which met my exact requirements - so I know they exist. Therefore there is no rush to travel 350+ miles to look at a car with a suspect history (Scottish Gt4 example used here). Perhaps if I was in a rush then I’d need to travel further. I’d also prefer to buy a car from the forums that I know has been looked after if possible - hence why I started a thread just in case. With regards to imports, these typically cost me more to insure (some insurers won’t touch at all, meaning less choice or competition for my business) , and don’t all come with the GT spec of UK cars. Otherwise I’d be happy to consider them
  8. Thanks - seen it but it’s 200 miles away from me, has some sort of dodgy past (export/import) and so I’ve discounted it for now. Also a VERY cheap black GT4 @ £4400 in Scotland, but again MoT history suggests it’s not been on the road for over a year, and that’s a Long way to travel to view a car and find out its a lemon! Haha.
  9. Still looking.. perhaps 1or 2 potentials, but may be willing to look at super clean standard 350Z’s with low mileage too. Thanks.
  10. Thanks. A bit far from me and mileage higher than I’m looking for really. got a few std cars closer to home but may just need to sort the bodykit out myself. Still keen on a GT4 if any are about though.
  11. Thanks, have seen yours already, but as you’ve picked up the tan leather isn’t my ideal choice. I also don’t know if I like the colour, although coming around to it a little I think. Not a fan of those wheels either, but they are easily changed I suppose.
  12. Hi all, im looking for a decent 350Z, following criteria: must be lower tax bracket, so pre-2006 UK car, not import Would love a GT4, preferably in black, but know these are rare. sub 70k miles, potentially meaning it’s had a clutch replacement previously FSH Light modifications isn’t an issue, Nismo bodykit if possible! Not with a tan interior (although if it’s the right car I can always swap most of this out I suppose) within a couple of hours drive from Hampshire/Berkshire. I’ve now been lined up to 3 cars previously, only to find out the sellers are trying their luck and asking for £1000s more than they paid for the car a matter of months ago. A car does not appreciate overnight, so if you’re gonna try It on hen at least please ensure it’s not available to the public on the internet via forums etc. For anyone else in the market for a similar car, please check these forums for the previous owners and for sale threads, don’t want you to get caught out too! Anyway, drop me a message if you have something that may suit - thanks
  13. Seen your car listing already if I’m honest I’m not a fan of the orange interior and I’m looking for something much lower mileage really. There seems to be a trader in wiltshire who gets several Zeds for sale, think they are called Evo motors. He had a Gt4 until this week and I just missed out
  14. I’m Basingstoke too, although I don’t own a Zed yet.. deffo want to keep my eyes peeled on this as would be interested in attending when I’ve got one
  15. Thanks folk There is a yellow GT4 for sale not too far from me but asking price is top dollar, especially as I can see it was sold on here last year for 3k less... Not many of them about for sure - but I’m not too fussed if it’s a DE with a Nismo kit or similar I suppose, I’m not a fan of the zed without a bigger spoiler either.
  16. Hello all, I won’t bore you all with my history, but I *think* I’ve decided that my next “weekend toy” is going to be a 350z, hence signing up on here. May be looking at a few basic modifications etc in the future too! Have been particularly looking for a GT4 variant, but may settle for a GT with a Nismo kit fitted if I can find one Hopefully I’ll speak to some of you soon ish, would love to see if there are any regular meets etc in or around Hampshire/Berkshire area! Cheers Paul
