This a track car? As earlier discussed in this thread i thought it was an MOT failure without OEM airbag? If it is legal whats your insurance like knowning you removed the airbag?

Can't wait to put your brace on with everything else I'm doing to my engine  bay.

Sneak preview of the anti roll bar, I'll soon be the shiniest guy around these parts of town once the rest of the engine bay is done B)

I'm fairly sure mine doesn't flame at all (pops and bangs always active). That's with ARK GRiP catback and Motordyne ART test pipes. Would this many resonators make flames less likely?

Restrictions in the exhaust will make it harder for your car to flame. It's a long way to travel form the manifolds to the tips.

Oddly AF quoted me £734 today, when I told them Axa will do better cover for £398, they came down to £500:wacko:.

Haha AF quoted me £8400 something. And then when I said I had mods they quoted me £4000 something. I told them admiral quoted me £1900 with everything declared they told me there's nothing they can do and told me to find another company...

I am only 20 with 2 years no claims :D but still insurance is ludicrous sometimes.

With the 350Z being a V6, twin turbo is the easier option as it has one per bank, either side of the engine. There are discussions on here about single turbo kits. What do you hope a single turbo will do rather than a twin turbo?

Response is great with a couple of small turbo's and plenty of displacement.

To be honest, for your modest goals you'd be much better off with a supercharger. My engine failed at 400hp. Superchargers aren't as stressful on internal components.

If you do go turbo, be aware that it'll be time and money consuming! Clutch and tyres become consumables lol.

I was looking at the pro charger kits they make fitment look so easy, I've seen people fit them on their own drive by themselves in one evening. Works out cheaper than the twin turbo kits as well.

thanks again for the advice man I won't be doing it this year since no insurance company will touch a 20 year old with a boosted Zed but it's on my todo list :D

I can't really tell. When I first got it, insurance was fairly cheap. But the year after, it went up A LOT. That's before I turbo'd it. Then after I boosted it, insurance was fairly cheap. Then it was off the road and this time it was a nightmare to get cover AT ALL. Adrian Flux wanted £14k. Sky, the original insurers post turbo would no longer insure me. I'm 35 with max NCB.

Currently I'm paying MORE for a 1.5 Renault Clio diesel than I did for my Z the first year. It's also only £100 less than I'm paying for my Z right now all mods declared and like for like.

There's just no consistency in car insurance.

But that said, at 20, do you have the 20k+ you're going to need for the project?

I'm about to take mine off the road until next year and I fear I'll have the same issue. Admiral originally quoted me £1750 7 months ago if I do an online quote with them now it's £3300.

im paying £1900 with every declared on mine.

flux also quoted me £8000 and I don't have 20k sitting around right this moment, but I know it's my project car and I'm willling to work and sacrifice to get it where I want it. I won't be twin turboing or building the engine. At first I just wanna go single turbo 360-410bhp on stock bottom end and if I don't blow the engine I'll be more than happy with that.

450 is what it's at and declared to insurer.

Just out of curiosity how much did boosting your Z put your insurance up by? I'm currently 20 and want to go down the FI route within the next few years, do you think I have any hope?

I've heard of these WOT boxes  it seem to have mixed reviews with some people saying they cause damage eta and I've never seen them for sale ?

This works in the Zeds, I too was skeptical because of some horror stories online. But there's a few people on the forums who've had them for a year+ and they've never had issues. If you set it up correctly and follow all the instructions you won't have an issue. Even just spark cutting and letting the fuel flush through the cylinder in theory won't cause any damage.

I live on Skye and it's a 1 hour round trip to the ONLY garage that has super unleaded .. drives me mad !

I have a full decay set up and it does already pop a little every now and then.. but... Island is full of tourists and I crave the joy of a bbq on their front bumpers as I overtake...a lot lol

Haha okay your best bet is a remap then, I'm sure if you tell the Tech you want foot long flames they might advise against it but they'll do it. The only other mod you could do which I've just ordered it to install a WOT box, you can set these up in a number of ways I.E. it can cut ignition and fuel or in your case you can just cut ignition and let the fuel flow into the exhaust manifold I'm sure that'd get a few flames going.

WOT Box would be the cheaper option of the latter but can be fairly difficult to install.
