    500Z?

Has anyone ever changed the 350z engine for a GTR unit? Been off ered a new crated gtr unit at a really good price so it set me wondering if this has been done before, if so, what gearbox was used as not sure the usual box would take the extra loading it would be expected to. Brakes-are not a problem, I have various sources available.
  3. Is it 1695 or 1795? If it seems too good etc.
  4. Mine is on brit plates P1 ## ##A.Weather should be sunny all day today, might be up a bit later to test our M3. Be safe and enjoy if your still here.
  5. As title, mine was parked at the bottom of the Diners cp.Sorry I couldnt come and say hi, I was busy testing the Red Cooper S/sort of "working".
  6. Dunlop sport maxx are as good as if not better than MPS.Better in the wet and superb in the dry.No sqeal in dry weather =excelent wet weather performance.Mps tend to roll thier tread quite a lot more than the Dunlops.Always had the mps' s fitted to the M3s I used when working with MSVR, fast laps would always start to increase the tread roll thus increasing lap times-something that simply doesn't affect the Dunlops.
  7. Brillo-I am just about to renew my mtech dimpled and grooved for a new set.I think 34000 miles of hard driving (on track) as well as road , NO cracking no nothing but excellent braking.I have motul rbf fluid with Mintex pads which I think are perfect for the Z.
  8. Could have kicked myself two months ago-set on ebay.de sold for €237 including four new vredestein tyres.f*****

    Ring Trip

Because of my position here at the Ring, I couldn't possibly condone nything that resembles a "personal lap best time" as it is illegal here (I kid you not) I will say that attempting to improve can be extremely frustrating (traffic) and also very dangerous. However, the track tends to be a lot less crowded on a Monday, Tuesday or a Wednesday evening session.Warm sunny evening runs can be absolute magic.

Why? Its one of the easiest corners on the track. As long as you dont tuck in to far left, theres a hump that will kick the backend out if you hit it.About one and a half meters out is best as it is one corner that has a special deal with the armco. Get it right and it can be done very quickly. Afair bit of time is lost at angst, most people brake, again, get it right and you dont need to as the exit is still a fairly steep gradient. In fact the last braking point for that area is Bergwerk and the next is Steilstrecke which is around three and a half kilometers (never actually clocked it)

Sorry couldn't have joint you all, had hoped to get a few laps in myself but people to see, places to be etc. So who was in the red Z at Adenau Første? Come on, dont be shy.)
  13. I went to them a few years back to look at a Z, nothing like the ad suggested so walked away! Bought mine from Vulcan Cars in Norwich, time to pick it up a week later. All seemed ok until I gotten out of the city onto open roads when I noticed the car was pulling to the left slightly.Stopped and checked the front tyres to find that on of the original Dunlops had been changed for a poxy Avon. Not one for mixing brands on same axles etc I phoned them to ask why it was so . Couldn't get a reasonable answer so just carried on with my journey home. Next day went to see a friend in my then local ATS who stripped off the avon only to find that apart from the tyre being run for what must have been a fair distance it had been illegally repaired with a tupe patch not a plug! So I then decided thata full set of new dunlops could be the way to go. Three out of four had illegal repairs! More than likely they all came from a shady used tyre dealer, who just so happened to be just up the road from Vulcan. After many phone calls and letters just decided they wete just a shite company@

Why? I'll call in when I can, could be a busy weekend for me though.Remember those rear view mirrors and no RH overtaking. Be safe. Best pizzas available in the Zum Kleeblatt imbiss in Breidsheid.
  16. Its only a marketing thing, engines with a bit of mileage will often give more power anyway-run much more freely because of the wear.Any engine thats only used around town will generally be a little reluctant to deliver the "goodies" but some decent fuel and a motorway will usually sort it.
  17. How about filling with Shell Power and giving the car a good motorway run, much more enjoyable and probably cheaper/better.

Or theres always Drive the Ring if you fancy a new Cooper S, tremendous fun arond here. They also have a special offer on at the moment I believe, four laps including fuel/insurance in a n S.The deal gets you one free share in the company which is worth €395.Hire is €399.Best bit is that the share is redeemable in return for another four laps in a Cooper S whenever you want or just keep the share for the future. I live in Breidscheid and instruct on the Ring (week off this week in preparation for the 24Hr.) Best advice really is ignore any video games as they are a world apart from real life. The gradients are much more severe and the straights not as long. All corners here can be negotiated with one application of lock. Basic rules of thumb is "if you cant see around it, its a VERY late turn in point" Rear view mirrors, USE them EVERY time BEFORE changing lane, ie making the corners as wide as possible. No overtaking on the right, it is illegal as this is a German Highway and all highway regulations apply. Check with your insurance company as to if you're going to be covered-if they tell you no, simply inform them that you should be covered on a German toll road.It has to cover you for the minimum Third Party cover. Most of all enjoy it, its the best in the world and totally unique.
