  1. If you use Jack @ royal steering wheels he'll trim up a spare wheel send it to you in the post and then you return him your old wheel. You have to pay a small deposit though, but its returned to you when he receives your wheel.

Alternatively you can go to him and hell install it for you. he's based in Aylesbury

Loads of us have used him.

    A thread of Jacks work:

What may happen if you go elsewhere:

Ahh thank you! That thread showing the 4mm extra thickness on the wheel is about perfect for what I'm after, had only seen the 2mm extra until you'd posted that. Thanks!

The only fault I had with Jack is he can take a while to get back to emails! so if he doesn't respond try calling him.

    Thoroughly nice chap though.

Yeah I had a browse through his website, and also his work on other forums and every single job looks spectacular and everyone says he's a standup guy. Definitely going to give my wheel to Jack.

Strip the steering wheel controls off the De wheel and send that wheel off to be retrimmed then when you get it back just fit the HR controls to the new wheel. It definateley works I've done it!

That's superb, thank you so much. I was wondering if theres any differences to the wheels and if it stops you fitting one to the other. Or if you can't fit controls to one of the wheels. Thank you for clearing it up for me.

  2. When I had mine done, the switches (specifically the CC) didn't work from another DE used wheel (my original wheel was a DE too). I ended up going back to the switches from my existing wheel, on the re-trimmed wheel. Which was fine, just a faff as I didn't find out until I came to use the cruise!

If it was me, I'd fit the DE wheel now and send off your HR wheel for re-trim and live without the switches and airbag for a short while, as you know that wheel will work when you come to put it back in.

I know this seems to be over the top, and it might have just been the wheel I bought, and I'm sure not having an airbag for a while might up some, but it's all just IMO.

Hi Stu, many thanks for the speedy reply. I was thinking I'd use my steering wheel controls too, to save the hassle encase the others don't work. From what I can tell, the housings and silver trim pieces are identical in size, so my controls should fit when I go to swap them over. I've had a look online and it seems the controls are held in by 2 screws either side once you've taken the back trim of the wheel off.

That's a great idea though, sending my HR wheel off to get retrimmed.. In regards to the airbag, I guess I could always switch that over to the DE wheel while mine is getting retrimmed and just live without the switches for the meantime.

I'll return with a few links!

He's actually the chap who I'm speaking to about getting it retrimmed haha! I've just emailed him to see if he has any spare wheels that I could use in the meantime, would be really handy if he does!

  3. Hi guys,

Looking at getting a wheel retrimmed, so thought it'd be easiest for me to pick up another wheel to allow me to carry on using my car as a daily while the new wheel is being worked on.

So my question is, will a DE steering wheel fit a HR? From what I can see they look almost identical.. If so, will my HR radio and cruise control switches fit the wheel? As they are a slightly different style between the years and the 'On/Off' and 'Cancel' switches are the opposite way around, will this cause an issue?. I presume my airbag will fit the same aswell? I've attached a photo below to show the minor differences between the switches. DE on the left, HR on the right.

  4. Apologies for the delay in replying chaps, my trusty phone did a stellar job of not giving me any notifications at all haha!

She looks almost like mine fab colour...paint the door handels gloss black looks far better

plus get a nismo rear spoiler to finish it off ..job done.

    Mike K-g

I've been um-ing and arr-ing of whether to go for the gloss black handles or not, I've seen it on some Zeds and I think it looks good, but I'm not certain on mine. I quite like the way the silver breaks the colours up abit, especially as the wheels are dark aswell.. Guess I could always grab a tin of plastidip and some of that glossifier and get a rough idea of what It'd look like haha! Spoiler is a good shout aswell, the Z shopping list continues to grow!

Looking very good, just needs some 19's now.

Thanks Payco, been looking at 19" options for some time now and am struggling to set my mind on some.. Got abit of a soft spot for the ES1s but think I'd need to be abit lower to pull them off, so coilovers are next on the list I think!

Looks great, a nice contrast and balances the car out well

Thank you bud! It was one of those tricky situations where I wasn't too sure how it was going to come out, but luckily enough the 350s seem to be very forgiving for most mods!

Love the side diffusers in gloss black. I prefer the clean look of the bumper rather than having a splitter tbh, especially on the facelifted zed. Cracking looking car though bud. I think your wheels look absolutely spot-on. ;)

Thank you! It's quite funny you should say that actually, because I found as soon as I got my Zed, I thought it was lacking something on the front haha! Know completely where you're coming from though, as the fronts of our cars are quite 'flat' so the lip does look abit more pronounced. When I received the lip unpainted, we did a test fit and I had abit of a uncertainty in my gut whether I was going to like it or not once I got it back from the bodyshop, but I'm happy with the outcome.. I would have been abit screwed however if I didn't like it, as its completely bonded and blended into the front bumper hahaha

Grrr...your 350 keeps appearing (I saw it on Facebook) . Do you realise you've given me a right dilemma... I bought an azure 350 a few months ago and now I'm wondering if I bought the right colour!

Honestly I wouldn't change a thing, you can't improve on perfection haha! The front splitter finishes it off perfectly IMO, and matches the line of the side steps. Wheels and colour look spot on.

Oh and I want a gloss black roof also.

Do you wanna sell it?? :teeth: What colour is it? i.e. colour name/code?

Really appreciate it, thank you! It's unfortunately not for sale, but apologies for creating a dilemma for you! ;) Hope you're still getting along with your azure Zed? I think a gloss black and blue colour theme with yours would still look great!

The colour of mine is 'Twilight Grey' I believe, and the colour code is 'K51'. My roof is just wrapped gloss black, Monsterwraps in Southampton did it and did an absolutely amazing job, it's about a 2.5 - 3 hour drive from where I live but is 100% worth it. Next on my list is coilovers and wheels, but that's when I've finally made my mind up and funds allow haha!

  5. Are you just after lowering the Zed or trying to improve the handling?

The other thing is I'd be careful what choice you make as if your car is a daily driver you really don't want to make the ride too harsh especially with the way our roads can be, ...pot holes, speed bumps etc.

Have a look through here when you get a minute as some of the answers you need maybe in here already: http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/88-suspension/

    ;)

Primarily to improve the handling to be honest, I'd only be looking to lower the height by 20-30mm which I believe almost all coilovers cover anyway, but that's really only an added bonus, my main priority is to improve the handling. I do use the car daily but it's only a short journey to work, so even if the ride was on the harsh side I'd be able to live with it. But don't get me started on road conditions and how appallingly they are repaired these days! Hahaha.

I'll be sure to have a search and see what people's reviews are, can't get better feedback than someone who's having to live with them day to day!

  6. Know exactly what you mean! Coilovers are the next thing on my list to do, and for that price you're almost at a decent set if you add abit of cash on top (I still need to do abit of research into them however!).

Think it's because I've had the day off work today and my mind has been in 'what can I get for the Z next' mode haha! I have a private plate on already (T19 CCW), which although it wasn't expensive, has my age when I got the plate and the Z, and also my initials at the end, so like you say is pretty much future proof.

Think I need a financial advisor.. Maybe that's why I'm constantly skint.. Hmmm..

So you don't need another private reg then as you've already got a decent private plate anyway (that's free advice btw :D ). ;)

£768.80 Will get you these coilovers fyi: http://www.torqen.uk/nissan/350z/suspension/coilovers/1652-350z-torqen-s-coilovers-trqz33s.html

A piece of plastic or some coilovers.. Hmm, I must say, I can see where you're coming from

Just add your advice charges to my account, I'm sure some other bad decisions will follow soon which I'll need help with! Haha!

Have been looking at those funnily enough, I know the KWs are a popular choice aswell, as are the Meister Rs. Need to sift through some posts and see what the pros and cons are of each, I'm sure for what I'm after which is just road use any of them would be fine though.

  7. Nice plate for a Zed Connor but can't help thinking of other things I'd rather buy for the Zed if it was mine for £800 odd, ...I mean for that you could get a remap & some De-Cats with change for a tank of Super too. ;)

Private plates have never been my cup of tea though tbh but if I was to look at getting one I'd definitely be looking more at something with my name or initials so that I could transfer it from car to car in the future.

  8. Haha that's brilliant, what a lad! I'd imagine you were sitting in your car trying to keep cool, when in reality you looked like this:

  9. Not a very good picture, but very proud tonight as my son asked me to take him to his prom in my car.

What a truly awesome moment! That's so cool!

Absolutely chuffed to bits to be honest so proud of my boys ☺ï¸

I can imagine, quite rightly too. One of those moments that'll stay with you both forever! With cars being such a big part of prom these days, you must have been over the moon when he asked you to take him. Not surprised obviously, as we all know the Zeds are the coolest cars about ;)

  10. Looks good mate!! Those GT4 wheels looks good in that colour....I quite like them on a grey zed

Thanks bud! I'm possibly thinking about changing them soon to some Varrstoen ES1s as I'm going to need a set of tyres for these. The ES1s are one of my favourite dished wheels for the 350s, but I have grown a little attached to these! haha.

  11. Have you tried using Chrome aswell? That's all I use on my phone and on my computer and haven't had any issues.

It is really weird that it would come up with the Web page can't be displayed, is it happening on any other sites aswell? Almost sounds like your Internet is dropping out momentarily, but if it's consistently happening on the same topics it can't be, very weird!

    EDIT:

Looking on the Symantec website, that error you posted is your Antivirus trying to protect your device as it thinks theres some harmful content on the website. I'd presume you can allow specific websites through or tell it that the current website is a false flag, may be worth looking into your Web Shield settings!

  12. I really like this car, I'd like to do similar to mine. Do you have spacers on the wheels?

Thank you bud, appreciate it! Got 25mm on the backs, and 20mm on the fronts, here's some before and afters to show the difference, makes the car look so much better and the wheels sit where they should have done from the factory!

  13. Best colour mate B)

I am abit of a sucker for the grey Zeds! I do love black Zeds too though, but after previously having a black car and how awkward it was to wash in the summer with the paint being the temperature of the sun, and showing any swirls regardless of how careful you wash it, decided to go for the grey route haha! Black cars do look stunning when clean though!

Very nice. The exact body mods I want and also on a grey Z. A chargespeed rear is what I'd go for. Thanks for uploading.

Thank you! It really does transform the car, especially the lip. Would be interesting to see what the lip and sides would look like in body colour.. I was looking at the chargespeed rear actually, probably my favourite rear for the 350, possibly in the near future! haha

  14. Hey Steve don't forget about me! :)

Sun glasses holder? What is this please? I can't think what this is.

Please PM me if interested, I'm not too good at tracking threads.

By the way guys, is there a way to keep track of threads that I have posted on? Like, so I get a notification if someone replies on one of these threads? Thanks

    Jon

    Hi Jon,

If you click the 'Follow this topic' button at the top of the screen on the right hand side, you can chose to get a notification each time someone replies on a topic you've posted on, hope this helps abit!

  15. One wonders if mayhaps the vinyl did gone done react somewhat to a bit of heat? Or I could just be making that up. Who knows how my mind works...

It does make you wonder! I've read online that it's possible to compound and polish vinyl wrap with a DA just like paintwork albeit you have to be abit more careful in some circumstances. But maybe it does have something to do with rainwater being on the vinyl wrap and then evaporating when the sun comes out, who knows! Haha!

  16. No problem at all, if the mark does decide to reappear I'm more than happy to send you some of the S20 I have to see if it helps, like I say I've got so much of it I'll never use the whole container haha!

It's funny you should say that the mark dissappeared, as just recently my brothers car had some dirty water marks on his roof and the sun decided to come out and they weren't wanting to come out with a normal wash. The next morning he had dew all over the roof as it was a reasonably chilly night, and once it got to mid-day the sun came out and evaporated the dew, the marks had gone completely - so what you said about the rain lifting it could well be true! We were stumped when we came to it the next day, very weird..

Either that or you unknowingly made a hybrid solution of snow foam and triple concentrated shampoo which dissolves marks on the spot but is still safe for vinyl haha! If so, bottle it up and get it on the shelves asap!

  17. I personally don't really have too much of an issue with how long these things take, as long as it's done correctly and to a high standard.. I don't think the OP does either (correct me if I'm wrong OP haha!) I think in this situation it was more of a case of it taking longer than quoted, and wasn't communicated correctly (if at all) which is why he's abit disappointed with the service provided.

  18. So the local seagulls, fuelled on townie chunder and leftover kebab, have a particularly acidic deposit in these parts. This is after a TBW and a go with CarPro spotless (I know it's for water spots but I've got some handy).

Now if this was paint I'd clay and then polish it, but what on earth should I be using on vinyl to shift these unsightly etchings? Needs to be something with chemical cleaning power I think, rather than abrasive.

Sorry for rubs photos, they're not east to capture in this sunshiiiine.

My brother and I have both got our roofs wrapped in vinyl. He had some pretty nasty marks where some bird had decided to deposit its insides over his car, and because he was at work he was unable to clean it off until he got home, by which time it'd etched itself into the vinyl, similar to the photo you posted. We used some Meguiars Ultimate Compound by hand and majority of the marks came out, but using Scholl S20 Black removed the marks completely and removed any swirl marks from the wrap too, definitely worth giving it a go!

You can get it from CleanYourCar here: http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/car-polish-compounds/scholl-s20-black-1-step-compound/prod_1548.html

But that's in a 1KG bottle which I have, and can honestly say I'll probably be 6ft under before I get to the bottom of it! You may be able to get smaller amounts from elsewhere! Good luck!
