  1. Be nice to have you here Matt, looking like its gonna be another busy day, we had over 95 cars here last time and the weather was great. Dave
  2. Awesome, be good to see you buddy. The dent guy is great, does amzing stuff and great prices too!
  3. Good afternoon folks! Its been a while since we had a get together here at Deepcar Autobodies, and thought its about time! So we are gonna have an open day on 2nd of August. It won't be our first open day... but we are hoping to make it our best so far. So you get an idea of what goes on, here is a video of one of our other days, recorded by DropOutMedia https://vimeo.com/42045967 we had an amazing day but we want more, and a presence from you lot with your fantastic cars would be amazing!!!! So, what are we gonna be doing? Obviously we are going to be trying to showcase some of our work, we are a body shop after all so we are going to be inviting back some of the amazing cars that we have sprayed in the last couple of years for you all to see . Although this video comes from the MX5 scene we do so many varied things it would be nice to get you all in one place. We are also gonna break out the BBQ for people to be eating food off.. in a kind of bring your own burger kinda way. There is also an onsite cafe, they are usually closed on weekends, but they opened up last time, so we will ask them again,, they have a lovely selection in there We have other talents attending too, like our friend the Paintless dent removal guy, to see to any minor injuries your metal may have suffered (he offers fantastic work at reasonable prices), and possibly offering some of our lighter services on the day too, such as power polishes. We also have the Combustionpunks forum attending and they will be offering merch too so we'll have a little stall on site with tshirts, hoodies, keyrings etc. If you have any requests for Z stuff beforehand just give us a shout or joinn up to the forum and speak to Yetidragon, he's a great guy. There will be a graffiti guy working his magic in the workshop and painting a mural for us, so plenty to see. We are also up for suggestions of anything else that will help the days entertainment see what we can sort out Hope to see you all there Dave and Emily
  4. Hiya folks, This year has been a mental busy time for us, and we have had a few lovely Z's through the door now, always a pleasure. So as you lot have been a lovely welcoming bunch we are offering 10% off any repairs and paintwork you may need. Thanks Dave
  5. Dave, keep the ratio mix noted down, they are the closes match I've seen to the original Ray silver. They may be others wanting to referb to OEM spec. Not a problem Martin i've got the mix wrote down
  6. Looking good Martin Really glad you like them Dave
  7. It's a Japanese pitcrew front end but they have stopped making them now, there are similar kits available but no where near as good IMO ,they are really rare and can be expensive if they do come up for sale ,we fell lucky after looking for one for 3 years Dave
  8. That is an awesome colour, slightly darker than our car
  9. We've painted a few shows cars in dark pearl purple and looked awesome, not 350z but i think it will look great, as long as its done properly, Dave
  10. This really is a no brainer mate, its probably my favourite show of the year, 4 days of just having a great time with great people and awesome cars, what on earth could you be doing thats better than this Dave
  11. That would be awesome Gaz, even if i don't buy the 280 the owner will still let me bring it so should be ok Dave
  12. Well we'll be going with our mx5 pitcrew but we have just finished some work for one of our customers on his awesome 280zx which he is trying to sell me, and to be honest i love it and will be trying to raise the funds so i can fetch it to JAE as well, so may well be joining you Dave
  13. You'll be fine buddy, I'm just over 6ft and 17 stone and i'm fine with mine, although get some decent seats where you can sit lower, and becarefull what cage you get as they can restrict the amount of travel on the seat going back and can lose that few inches that makes all the difference., We are thinking about going 3 way on a track car this year as well with the guys at work should be good fun Dave
  14. Hey Buddy Have you had problems with water in the passenger footwell at all, its a common problem that water gets in and floods the footwell where the ecu is situated and can damage the wires going into the ecu, Easy to check, pull back the carpet and you will see a metal panel bolted with 3 or 4 10mm nuts, remove them and you will see the ecu, just check the wires going into it, possibly some of them may be corroded, you can sometimes just clean them up along with the connections and might be ok, if not you may have to source an electrician to check them out. Hope this helps, or at least something to cancel out Dave
  15. Sweet , always loved the rota zero's they really suit the car ,looks a tidy example Dave
  16. Yes they are amazingly cheap, we were really lucky with the pitcrew and found the car on Ebay for an absolute steal. The lady that owned it had bought it as a fresh import, she knew it was 'an unusual' one but didnt quite realise what it was, even though she had looked it up. She was really sad to see it go (cried when we were leaving with it ) as she loved it but couldnt run it for her new job or afford to fix it up. We sent her all the build pics as it was going on and she was chuffed to bits bless her.
  17. Thanks! I may well PM you about that matey cheers. We actually came about the engine by accident to be honest, a customer offered us his car that was rotten but mechanically sound and had lots of goodies worth saving so we broke the car and decided to keep engine for the pitcrew. We popped it on rolling road and it came in at 165hp...as opposed to the 150hp it should be!
  18. Thanks for the welcome guys, much appreciated! Started with little jobs....first Alloys...look a million times better (even if I do say so myself)
  19. Cheers guys. Weve got quite a history with the MX5's, and do a LOT of them in our bodyshop. Great fun little cars. Shame they are so lacking on power buy hey ho. We are however putting a BBR turbo engine in it very shortly so that should give it a bit more edge. The BBR turbo set up still isnt powerful, but to be honest, this car isnt about that so we dont mind. SteveoD, hardtop is on the to do list this year too Heres a couple of the other MX5's we have had ourselves: Autosports International last January, our Red MK3: 'Black Beauty'...a deep cherry black colour with Tuckin99 wide arches at JAE 2012; Yellow MK3 JAE 2013: This one isnt ours but we paint a lot of race cars for the MAX5 race series: Paul Roddisons on the Nankang tyre stand at Autosport Int 2014 A few others lined up for MAX5 series: Think we painted all but 3 in this picture a couple of customers custom builds we have done too: V6 Italia 280zx Splitty Another MX5 We are really lucky that we get to work on some great cars!
  20. Newbie to the 350z scene, but certainly not to Jap cars. Owned various things over the years, currently own two MX5s, a Toyota Sera (ongoing project), 2 VW vans a golf and a Hayabusa but heres our latest show car. It has a rare Pitcrew Racing front end, very marmite but we love it. We got this one customised and modded just in time for JAE last year so hopefully will be taking it to plenty of shows this year.
  21. MX5s are great little cars, we specialise in them (bodywork) side and paint a lot of the MAX5 race cars so if anyone ever needs any advice just shout up.
