Could be a dummy glovebox key?

The immobiliser function is separate from the remote lock/unlock so although the alarm would have gone mental the car should still start if its a pukka key.

ok, so i left my car locked, locked by pressing the padlock on my key. I assume this arms the alarm too?

missus had access to the spare key that has no remote-locking button. she put the key in the door and turned, the door unlocks.

no alarm goes off.

key goes into ignitiion and turns fine, ignition comes on but car wont fire. just engine spin.

are you saying the alarm should have gone off too ??

not had to use the spare key before. great time to find out it doesnt work.

reading that it might not be 'programmed', but its just a generic looking key with Nissan stamped on it, that doesnt actually have a locl/unlcok button. so, im not sure if its an issue with the key or or the fact the key isnt able to turn off the alarm/immob

Im at work with my regular carkey. the missus has a spare at hom and the car needs to be moved down the road for a delivery. shes able to unlock the car but not start it. the spare key doesnt have the 'lock, unlcok' button, so i assume the immobiliser is still turned on?

any help would be awesome please, im googling away but cant find a hit.

(what good is a spare key if it doesnt start the car?!)

for the price i am expected to pay in a year i would be well on my way to a second hand engine or gearbox!

i'm on 04 plate with 55k miles, and with a single-payout limited to £7k (rought estimate of car value) its £110 per month / £1,300 a year!!

i'm struggling to find a set they do that i dont like

41.1 mpg @ 60mph

ive done it from Kent to Cardiff. ive got it on a thread here somewhere dated this summer

cruise at 70mph and its about 35mpg.

TT only has 2 seats also. this is why im bloody annoyed because its mine that is up for chop. i cant seem to get it through her head that its her that is costing her finance each month, but shes got it in her head that because its diesel it somehow costs alot less than mine per month to run.

hmmmm.

even tallying up the bills wont convince her.

i think i might just have to play the stalemate to its death. shes got to concede.

Bit of a rant really. i want to be trawling through the Engine and Tuning section and getting ready for more power and next years shows.

unfortunately, not. i cant find (or risk!) the motivation

just moved into out first house (after renting for a few years) and managed to just about escape not selling the car and postponed it long enough to save some deposit. brilliant.

but i think the missus had it in her head that the car would have to go for me to get a deposit, so now that idea is stuck there. Shes quite merrily trumping around in the couple-of-year-old TT, but thats ok because its diesel (if only forums could have an annotation for ''that was major sarcasm!'').

so apparently i now need to get a car that is cheaper to run and more practical. its a big hint at a room for a baby seat lets be honest.

ive spent alot of time looking at long term storage, but that its not financially practical for the storage or for the fact i would like to use it a few times a year, the second insurance would be a killer, for example. as you can probably tell i didnt get a garage with the house!

has anyone gone a conversion on a Z yet to make it a 4-seater? surely that rear strut can be replaced.

so yea. not enjoying driving the Z at the moment, mainly because i feel its a relationship thats about to expire. which doesnt really help me justify in my on head why i should keep it.

I just cant believe how heavy it is! must have caught it right on the edge to have drawn blood.

heads fine. but i was swearing the whole way to work.

so today after rolling out of bed and into the car at 7am ready for a long drive to work, it was pretty cold. just above freezing.

found out that my boot gas struts are getting old and dont work at all in the cold.

how did i find that out?

just ask the blood running down my forehead. or ask the neighbours what loud expletive woke them up this morning.

grrr. dropped like a stone, with my head already on its way out of the boot. first time its failed so wasnt expected.

There's a zed around the corner from us, looks like a wrap bluey/purple colour. Might have been at Ace meet last year. Plate ends 'ZED' anyone know if it is a user on here? Want to PM them.
