When i had my focus st i went to dreamscience, they know their stuff. They are based in Hull. They do a lot of testing for ford also. a lot of stuff sold for ford st cars comes from them as far as i remember.

I forgot to mention im from Croatia so visiting tuner shops in UK is not an option

Had one of these when I was 18. You can achieve 200bhp na in these in the uk. A company called pumaspeed do conversion kits

Yeah i was looking on it, but people say between Pumaspeed, Mountune and Jam sport, Puma has the weakest HP and worst fuel consumption. Either way im just looking for most budget friendly option.

  3. Few quick shots...

After browsing and looking around lately on which route to go with tune up, from yesterday I'm very close in securing Jam Sport stage 2/3 not sure exactly on kit name which gives 200 bhp as per previous owner. Its second hand and has been removed from Fiesta ST containing Cossy intake manifold, larger throttle, cam's and Milltek exhaust with manifols sport cat, missing only rear silencer and Jam Sport ECU flash.

Also the same owner has a Quaife helical diff. I really hope we will find reasonable price on all package which will keep us happy both.

And here we go again same old story DD car turning into project.

  4. Arrived yesterday finally.

So first thing will be full respray in original colour with front grille, front and rear fog lights in gloss black. Little body work is needed too which is not surprising since she spent all of the time in city.

I'm afraid I will go full retard again with this car. One upgrade is leading to another and before you know it agian DD car is overturned in project car

After respray I reckon we will start with engine mods.

    A suspension on the end.

  5. So....

I was in need for DD car, as with Z I went over the line in full retard mode and having car useful in certain conditions only.

Looking for something budget friendly and yet enough fun for everyday hustle I turned to Fiesta ST. Why? I wanted NA car again got nostalgic for sound and revs, I didn't want to spend much money on something for daily abuse, didn't want FI car due to maintenance, and with all that in mind  main of it's competitors have been seriously abused throughout years like Clio Sport or Ep3 Type R plus are still with price much more up than ST. In Croatia ST haven't been popular, more so it's much easier if found to be in good condition.

Minding that all and having already Ford Focus mk3 wagon with diesels engine at home I decided for Ford again. Ford has proved to be reliable car with good driving capabilities.

After a days of search abroad and at home I managed to find 2007 model from first owner with 90k KM on odo.

Good thing is first owner, basic mods have already been done, Bilstein B8 with eibach springs, Focust ST rotors and calipers,KN air filter, downpipe 60mm and OZ wheel.

On down side exterior is showing wears and tears of 11 years city driving and has LPG.

Throughout quick search online it uses Duratec 2.0L engine with 150bhp which due to Eco norm 4 has been largely restricted.

With basic intake and exhaust mods, larger throttle and remap figures of 180 bhp can be achived. For my intentions and purpose more than enough.

As I see awaits me to find headers Milltek or similar, sport cat and the rest of exhaust i can do on my own.

Servo liquid is prone to overheating and I found from Mountune cooling kit for that.

Remap and that would be all. Small swifty daily to fight routine's.

If any one has experiences with MK6 ST's what to look for, upgraded parts etc input will be more than welcome.

Ah yes and hope by end month to have it on my driveway

  6. I simply can't stop thinking about Panigale v4S lately

It is ridiculously expensive bike. Looks are by far the most sexiest out there

Whole electronics package is insane, in power terms as well 214 bhp on crank, crank is counter rotating. Slide control, engine brake control, Ohlins electronical suspension settings, cornering abs etc quite of big list of goodies.

With race kit and Akrapovic it outputs 226bhp

I'm really stuck in between rock and a hard place. Im trying to find reasons to justify myself throwing such amount of money for motorcycle

I've watched basically every review YT from MCN, 44 teeth and this bikes is really a game changer

Anymore in the progress with this? I'm considering doing a similar thing. Was also planning on making my own diffuser from rear axle back.

Just started few days ago so we will see how is going.

12.2 1/4 mile time while spinning the wheels through 1st and 2nd is a very fast time! Totally agree on its just enjoying a day out with the car and friends that important! For me there's never any champagne spraying after being out on track its all about having a good time!

Re chassis set up, definitely think next on your list to improve things further is the front upper arms. Adding caster adjustment gives you increased negative camber on the outside wheel as you turn in to the corner which makes the tyre bite in more and combats further the understeer! With such a heavy car its never gonna go completely if you're a bit keep to throw it in to a corner but smooth wheel inputs on turn in, so's to not transfer the weight too quick and overcome the grip, get the front hooked up then drive out under power and let it lean on the outside rear is what I try for. Get on the power a bit early and it can push the front wide instead. Stiffen the rear anti roll bar and firm up the rear shocks gradually till the rear begins want to play if it wants to understeer too much.

Not happy as I was looking to enter 11 sec as I did exactly 12.0 few years back while i had Crappysworth cam's up with bank 1 and bank 2 difference. But it was on different track though.

ARB are set on softest from 2 available at front and on rear is in Middle. Comparing to OEM goood improvement.

As far as uper control arm I do have Kinetix front upper arms but their max camber angel is -2°

On rear I have theirs Traction and Toe arms.

I think I will need to go with upgrade of those as they are a decent product for not too much modified car.

Since all of my suspension components are hugely modified something more serious is needed.

I wouldn't like to throw now fortune on it so what do you suggest would be best bang for buck

Great to hear about how the car has shaped up !

I know chassis wise we're quite similar, and I have to agree about how the car turns and does what you're asking it to. At Anglesey a few weeks back I did manage to get a tiny bit of understeer, however I think that was several laps in and just me turning in too hard (just Pilot Sport 4).

Your car sounds pretty brutal from your account, haha almost like 500/550 hp would have been enough :D

Yeah had on last track day few of those "understeers" but in my case I think cause was that I was trying too much.

I've noticed just a touch on gas pedal a car immediately tucks back in into turn.

I'm lacking track experience so mainly first half of track day I just trying "too much".

Since this is final set-up on chasis I still haven't explored it properly and got familiar of it capabilities.

Definitely car has change a lot in positive way and is much sharper on steering.

As far as car power goes it is just holding me back at track. I reckon on this track 450-500 bhp would be more than enough.

Once you start flooring the pedal car is so fast, corner's are so close, you jeed to brake like maniac causing car to be all over the place.

Good thing on other hand is that mainly in track i do not need yo go over 6500 rpm. A lot of grunt from 4500-6000 rpm to set some OK times without temperatures going wild.

Another thing is seat height of my Sparco R100 on rails and low mount frames. I'm missing an inch of clearance with helmet on and is making me crazy. I need to fold back seat and once there i do not feel so comfortable behind the wheel

Do like the pic at launch with nose up, ass down stance showing weight transfer pushing the rear tyres into the ground!!

What 1/4 mile times did you achieve?

Not so good. Thing is we do not have real dragstrips, mostly event's are held on abandoned air fileds or any 1 mile plus piece of flat tarmac which can be found. So grip was quite bad.

Best time was 12.2 on 1/4 mile with first 2 gears being useless. ECU was cutting so much power that I had feeling im stuck in place. After engaging into 3 rd gear car would just propelled itself like rocket.

It needed adjustments for better time, reducing boost in first to gears and so which I didn't have time to bother about.

2 days before this event I had a track day so geometry settings where quite agressive with camber on rear which didn't help in grip and putting power to the ground.

I went there mainly for fun as buddies had large tent installed, open fire for grill cold beer, what more you could ask.

Ive not been to many tracks where you can use the extra capacity of a 1000cc +, certainly in the uk, barring maybe Silverstone, in most cases you would be faster on a 600cc, having said that, i can totally relate to wanting big cc. I know they are a thing of the past but imho its a shame they dropped 750's, my Zx7R was such a good bike to ride, i much preferred that to the Zx9RC1 i ended up with.

Good think about liter bikes is they have grunt everywhere. Even if you make any mistake you can make it up with throttle wile on 600 bikes you have a very narrow powerband range

Ah I rode an earlier SP blade, not the current model. I left Honda in 2014. From the sounds of it yes they're having a ton of trouble with them.. we had some rather concerning issues with the brakes on the ABS blades 09-12...

If you're after exclusivity and a bit of size how about an H2 ;)?

I see ABS is stepping stone on all moder liter superbikes. Same models without ABS seem to have a better feeling on lever across different manufacturers.

H2 is a wicked bike. Supercharged 2 wheels is insane but not my cup of tea. I like to do few track days a year and H2 is not something build for track

I worked for Honda up until 2014 so rode everything I worked on and trade ins we had - so any litre to 14' I can help you on! (yes, even the awful RC8)

I'm no racer so I can't tell you what they're like on the limit or anything like that..

The Honda/Gsxr of that age are much of a muchness, nothing wrong with either. ZX10 is noticably faster, S1000RR feels faster still over the others (nasty clicky BMW switches though..!). RSV is a nice thing to listen to but under the fairings it's a real mess. I'm not even going to mention the crossplane R1... get one before that engine if you want a Yam.

Of that age I would have gone ZX10 as it's a real lary bugger (and green..) - I imagine the current one is much the same! Don't look so much at the 'race' tech on them, i.e HP4 bmw, you're not going to notice any of that on road.

I rode the first SP blades with the ohlins and brembos, felt the same as a standard one to me.. little smoother engine.

Depends what you're after bike wise, whether just for fun or longer distance? I like anything 10k rpm+, one of my favs was always a street triple R.. crazy little thing to ride but prob an effort on a long run.

Ask me stuff, there's a good chance I've ridden one and worked on them..

Cool thanks on a reply. After a buch of YT test I've ruled out Blade SP' it seams their electronics are very intrusive and they thend to have issues with QS.

Although everybody's have praised her lightweight and the way it drives as per test it feels like 600.

From what I've managed to pick up Gixxer 1000R would be the best buy, but it's hugly ugly bike.

Reason why I narrowed my search to Kawa RR is mainly exclusivity 1000 pcs made, already comes with fancy goodies like Marchesini wheels and is race spec bike.

And yes it's the biggest from all liter bikes. I like to have "piece" of bike underneath

I think that was less clear cut and they did VAR it, Croatia did the same on Maguire at one of our corners. What Croatia did well was use their foul count efficiently, when England did look like breaking in came a body check or the like to break it all down and with the ref keeping cards in his pocket just meant the tactic could continue, and any advantage of pace in the England team was reduced.

They did not VAR it tackle on Lovren.

I think looking on missed opportunities there was a few on each end. First half was England specially after 1st goal which drown our moral a bit.

But Croatia came up in second half and keept that momentum until second goal.

  15. 56 minutes ago, coldel said:

First Croatia goal was debatable, a foot that high was dangerous play and anywhere else on the pitch and it's a stonewall free kick.

Same like penalty kick that supposed to be for Croatia on last corner kick where D Lovren was taken down in mma style

I had the same thing happen with a brand new Ducati 748S back in 2000. Only 600 miles on the clock too!

If you have been riding Ducati`s for the last 13 years, getting on a screaming 4 pot will be interesting! I actually have an R1 and a Ducati 996 in my collection and have to say I love riding them both, but completely different characters. The R1 just screams and screams when you rev it. You can wring its neck and its so quick. It just accelerates and accelerates until you think "woah, id better stop". Whilst the 996 is a heavy old Ducati, the R1 feels just so much more nimble. The Ducati however has the sheer character, noise (open clutch & race termi`s), more extreme to ride and makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up everytime you open the throttle.

In general with the Ducati I find myself being lazy and keeping it in higher gears rather than change down, whereas the R1 im working the box a bit more.

Ive had a couple of kawasaki`s, nothing new though, but they used to be great bikes. I did 40,000 miles on my ZXR750L2 which ive still got, and had a ZX6R for a while. Build quality was good and I never had any issues.

Spot on. I doubt any bike can come close to the carisma which Ducati brings, from looks, sound etc.

Full Termi's, dry clutch and so. Hard to beat that.

I don't know maybe i reached period of my life where i need a "boring" bike although I really doubt in that by spec's of Ninja on paper. It is the only bike with Euro 4 norm compliant by now. On paper with stock exhaust it is producing 215 bhp with Ram Air. Once exhaust is down and upgraded with Akrapovic and remap those will be pretty scary numbers

  17. Majority of bikes from first series of s1000rr have second engine in it. I think with facelift model they have sorted out problem. They have tendency not to ask much questions they simply give you new engine which keeps owners happy and there is not much talk afterwards of it plus options of renewing extended warranties etc.

As you say retro and sport/adventure bikes are now taking fair share of market. Would be ideal to have a 2 bikes on the lawn but financial I can't afford it so I will go with sportbike instead of something like Ducati Multistrada

  18. I did awesome bike, has been a benchmark for years now but it has been already 10 years on market now and new bike is expected next year. Since i plan to buy bike September i can rule out bimmer and rsv4.

Although bimmers have issues of their own too which I've seen on my own eyes.

Brother of mine has bought brand new s1000r less than 1.5k mile one of valves went into cylinder. He did get a new engine on warranty but still...

  19. Good point but after 1198 Ducati has ditched they trade mark of tubular steel frame and went a new way where engine is main component of chassis

Last year I rode first Panigale 1199S Tricolore and I was surprised they way it handled. Nothing like Ducati's with tubular steel frame.

Last night I was planning to test drive Panigale 1299S but rain has spoiled all, manage do do just a small mainly straight runs

Thing which I noticed in these YT test is that Kawa has a really excellent front end and is very friendly to use
