  1. Where is ilogikal1 when you need him? :D

    I'm here. :teeth:

There's nothing wrong with using a sponge...

    :stir:

... if you slice them up and use them as tyre dressing applicators.

Personally, I prefer these to the lambswool just because they don't rot like all the lambswool mitts I've had, but either would be kinder to the car than the sponge. ;)

OP, I've noticed you mentioned polishes but no wax or sealant. You'll want to add some protection after going to the effort of polishing (after the paint touch ups though, obviously). Also, look up the "2 bucket method" (or 3, as you're cleaning the wheels too - I spotted that wheel brush - or 4 if you want to go overboard with the wheels  ).

I've got 2 sponges and one lambswool wash mint. Normal for use with G3, super soft for G10 and lambswool for use with Nu Finish once a year polish.

I assume you're referring to the polishing pads here? The advice above is referring to your wash sponge, not the polishing stage. Perhaps you could give a quick run down of your current process, just to avoid any misunderstandings?

Lol, I use polishing sponge (polishing pads). For the wash, I use a mop like cloth. Start from top to bottom to avoid picking up dirts which usually more at the bottom. Then dry the car with microfiber cloth. Then start off with a normal sponge (polishing pad) with the G3 polishing compound. Haven't got chance to finish the whole car yet. Plan is polish the whole car with G3, then switch to the super soft sponge (polishing pad) with the G10 super fine, then final round with the lambswool mitt with Nu Finish once a year polish/wax.

Good advise on the sealant, I'm not sure if the Nu Finish is a polish or wax. Need a closer look at it. That was a gift from my mate who owns a body shop back in Malaysia. He highly recommends it.

I kept the sponge wet with a water spray every now and then. I also use lowest speed and lots of movement to avoid burning 🔥

That's the recommendations from Farecla website 😤, I should had read for advices here.

Thank you guys! Appreciate your input. I'll exchange those spare sponges I have with the lambswool.

  3. I was quoted around £170 ish by Nissan Pentagon Huddersfield and I need to book it for a day for them to program it. Then I got quoted for around £130 ish by Timpson, but just bring your keys to their selected shops along with V5. They do it while-u-wait. I've only one at the moment, but not sure who to take it to. Hopefully someone here has done it before for cheaper price. Defo need an extra one for safe keeping.😉

  4. Got some time in lieu accumulated so took half day off today to detail my car. Borrowed a car polisher from my mate, brought some sponge, and some masking tape.

    Products:

    Farecla G3 polishing compound

Farecla G10 super fine polishing compound

    Halford's stone chip repair kit

    Turtle Wax car shampoo

    Meguiars all metal polish

    Gtechniq C4 plastic restorer

Lots of scratches around the rear hamburger ðŸ”

Unfortunately, I only managed to polish the rear wing and rear boot area before the rain starts. :o hence can't take pics of the polished area around the rear hamburger. 80% of the scratches are removed and only some still visible if you look close. Will get it sorted out tomorrow and take more pics.

    What's left?

    3/4 of the car

    Rear exhaust tips

    All black rubber trims

Kuro black paint on the stone chips and scratches

  5. Here's the one I brought off Amazon

That's loaded with a polisher, few sponges, an 20m extension cable and 2 bottles of polishing compounds :D, borrowed them from my mate today, hopefully the weather is good this Friday so that I can detail my zed :p

  6. As you have found out just the bush weeping, can continue to do that for a good while without causing issue.

Nissan won't sell you the bush but Whiteline do a replacement kit which we stock :)

Thanks CM, will keep that in mind when I decided it's time to get it sorted. Been spending a little too much on the car :o BTW, as mentioned above, I had changed my gearbox and diff oil today. I can feel the difference it made, much smoother gear change and it feels like cutting through butter. 😂 Thanks!

  7. After some research and asking around, apparently it's a rubber bush filled with 'oil'. I'll still be OK if this is deteriorate apparently. but knowing it's not 100% in good condition, I'm thinking of getting it sorted out B).

  8. Had my gearbox and diff oil changed this morning by my local garage. The owner has kindly lifted up my car when I went to collect it. Everything seems fine according to him except the bit on the rear diff (not sure what's the technical term) but here's a pic

    geme6aqy.jpg

He's not sure if there is a cover on it or not. So decided ask around. He says it's leaking so best to keep an eye on it.

Is this common and what can i do to get it sorted out?

  9. I brought this on Amazon, a little bit bigger that OEM but does the job for me with the price. However not in stock at the moment but can order.

Just an idea if you looking for a cheap alternative. This is not 100% like for like alternative hence will not be a perfect fit. I'll take a pic of it later today with stuff under the net.

  10. My bootlid is exactly the same as what your getting done with the same spoiler haha!

But it looks much better all smooth and flush!

Good shout on the headlights aswell, is the bodyshop splitting them?

Tarmacz diffuser is good bit of kit but i had to reverse my bumper tuck as well and bend it down a little more!

    looking good tho man! :)

Cheers man. Yeah boot has to be done. Wanted the bits smoothed over for ages but took a while sorting the spoiler situation so I could do it all in one go. Yours is looking good so confirms it for me that I'm making the right choice of spoiler :)

And yeah bodyshop is splitting them :) they said they are not sure how long it's gonna take so quoted me 2-4 hours.

Was wondering what sort of LED you use for the rear number plate lights? I put some normal LED in the interior light, it screw up my zed's electronic systems. My electric seats stops working, so does the heated seats, electric windows and I could no longer lock my car with the remote control. I replaced them with the original bulb but still doesn't fix the issue. Disconnected the battery, everything works for 5mins, then everything screws up again. Sent it to Nissan Pentagon and they could not find a fault but performed a factory reset. Everything works fine now but I'm still keen on swapping them with CANBus error free ones but I'm worried it will screw things up again. Did you swap with those special CANBus error free ones?

Hi mate. I'm not sure if you was unlucky or I was just lucky! I don't remember setting out to specificity buy a canbus error free bulbs, but not to say they are not. I really can't remember tbh, think I got something like this

    http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/251231914595

I'll risk it again for the style and look of the LED lights :p

  12. Hi all, I'm new to my zed. What's the benefit(s) of having braided lines? Someone please start poison me with more mods!! 😂

    Here's some info,

    http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/80111-braided-brake-lines/page__fromsearch__1

Be sure to read it all as it was posted before the changes that HEL made to their product

Thanks Martinjj. So is it safe to assume this is an improved HEL design to suit 350z brembo? Sorry, might sound silly here. It's this a complete kit? Or do I need to get suitable bolts etc to fit them? I just got my brake fluids replacement 2 weeks ago, so planning to buy these now, swap them out next year or do. B)
