  1. Cheaper than 4300? Where? So it has a little lacquer peel, to be expected after 150k, shouldn't cost much to fix, especially if you can do it yourself. I also think you'll be hard pushed to find one that doesn't have a few carpark dings, especially on the doors. The mileage is nothing to worry about if it been looked after service wise. I just meant cheaper cars generally, not cheaper than £4300. I'd rather pay a bit more for a better car. I honestly think the mileage is a bit of a worry. Aside the fact that the one being discussed is untidy Im interest to know why you feel high mileage is a cause for concern especially if backed up with good service history. High miles is sure sign of lazy motorway miles ie an easy strain free life for an engine because you'd be hard pushed to clock up high mileage in city stop start driving. So the engine with regular oil changes should be as strong as a low miles engine that just leave ware and tare on components such as suspension and brakes well brakes have a life span of around 30k so that's neither here nor there and suspension components such as bushes deteriorate through lack of use as well as excessive use and also with general age so that's not an issue solely for high mileage as there's many posts of low mile Z's with knocked out front arms. So if you have a valid reason for telling people to disregard high miles cars other than resale value because it's cheap in the first place then enlighten me That's not to be interpreted as a dig at you personally Im just interested what makes people think this way about mileage I know high mileage isn't an advantage when buying a car but it also isn't as bad as general consensus leads you to believe Ive certainly taken a big advantage to peoples misconceptions over the years and got some cracking deals
  2. You got any info on how you went about fitting the diffuser?
  3. Excellent Quick tarmac give me a price I want one exhaust mod is easy peasy
  4. Thanks for the quick replies guys thats the one for sure What will one cost I'll guinea pig one I have a body shop at my work so can make alterations if needed, if it's been done already on a 350 as in the 1st pic I'm sure I can sort it.... Pm me if you'd prefer I'm defiantly interested and up for this
  5. All of the above could have just as easily have happened in a 50k miles car there just wear and tear products Warning RANT coming sorry This is in no relation to the quoted post above but I HATE it when people give out bad and just down right awful advise on forums often given by people who know nothing about what there advising on other than there best friends brothers girlfriends second cousin said so..... High mileage shouldn't stop you buying a genuine car you just need to check things thoroughly. Im' talking from 14 yrs in the trade (mechanic) and coming from someone who's bought more than my fair share of secondhand motors Im currently on number 59 in 14yrs of driving and every single car I've bought has been reliable and has been sold on normally for a small profit and in great condition and I'd say 85% of those have had over 100k on them and I'd say 15% had over 150k in the last 5 cars alone I've owned and loved driving there's been a 2001 4.4v8 X5 with 139k on it a 2004 new shape Range Rover with 178k a 2007 Chrysler 300C with 155k and this one wins on mileage a 2003 Mercedes CL55 AMG Supercharged 5.5 V8 with 340k you did read it right Three hundred and forty thousand miles and it pulled like a train and drove like a dream then there's obviously my current 350Z GT4 with 141k (barely broken in) This is what you call full service history on my 141k GT4: Now the only thing I would be looking at in a car with long legs on it would be it's service history now don't just take it's stamped book as gospel you really want them backed up with invoices for 2 reasons 1st it could be a fake eBay stamp slapped in the book or more commonly the owner has had a genuine stamp added in there book but there just for a cheap oil change without the rest of the maintenance work carried out when it should have been if no invoices are present give the number on the service stamp a call just be polite and explain why your calling I've done this many times and they will give you the history of work they've done service wise and other work. Also check paperwork carefully I've been to see cars that have had stacks of paper work shame most of it didn't relate the car being sold so check reg on the paperwork also check dates and mileages reached at each date work out. Another good sign to see when you are looking over the car after you've studied the history is check out the tyres I love to see premium tyres fitted it's a sign they spend good money where they have too, that doesn't mean budgets are only fitted to abused cars it's just a good thing to find also check the levels a keen car person keeps on top of the fluid levels I actually looked at a 350Z that is currently for sale on eBay I popped the bonnet and dipped the oil (do this before starting as there a mare to read the level if been run) and it was way below the minimum without showing the chap I said when did you last top the oil up he claimed last week I shut the bonnet and said good by. Then there's the test drive I drive the car for around 15 miles mix town, back roads and motorway I've been to look at cars where there is very little fuel so I've chucked a tenner in the tank, I'd rather lose a tenner and spot a problem than do a quick road test then on the way home find a problem. Now I'm not saying that car is the one to buy I'm simply saying mileage is not a big hang up on modern cars where modern engines with minimal good maintenance will surpass 250k at least, it's all down to its history I've seen some relatively low miles 50-60k dogs that have had hard low maintenance life that drive terrible knocking banging dash lit up like a christmass tree with management lights. If your not mechanically minded to properly check over the car I'd suggest taking someone with you who is, I've had a few of our regular customers at the garage who have asked if I can take a look over a car if they drop by on road test and one good customer who took me to see a car needles to say I advised them accordingly. RANT over again sorry
  6. As the title really, I really like the look of this diffuser because it looks like it could have come out the factory with it fitted IMO
  7. Yeah, I usually nail the technology, but I was trying to not copy all the photos - which I failed to do and then as you say managed to get my words muddled up with yours! I regret that there was alcohol involved..... Interesting what you say about the 4.4 as I was targeting a diesel on the back of having run the resolutely 20mpg mazda cx7 for a year, but if I could find an LPG converted 4.4 that could be an interesting alternative, yes. If or should I say when I get another one because I bought the last one as we had a baby on the way which we unfortunately lost last year late on in the pregnancy so I'll get another for sure when we have then next one on the way because my wife loved driving it as it made her feel safe on the road, Anyway i would only look at lpg converted 4.4's because I would average 25-26mpg in the diesel x5 at £1.35 a ltr and in the 4.4 I averaged 18-19mpg but it only cost £0.67 a ltr so that gave me a cost equivalent to 32-33mpg and compared to the diesel its so much more fun to drive also looking after a lpg system is simple too a couple of filters and that's it, I bought the software for my system for the laptop so i could keep an eye on things and adjust the pressure to keep it at optimum but i never actually needed to adjust it in the 10 months I ran it.
  8. You might catch up if i stick to my plan and keep my Z for a while, I do like the X5's i actually for a little while had 2 at the same time the silver one which was an lpg converted 4.4 V8 and also a blue 3.0 diesel and believe it or not the lpg 4.4 v8 was a lot cheaper to run than the diesel and a whole lot more fun, it would oftern catch little boy racers out in there maxpower corsa's and saxo's with its 0-60 time of 7seconds for a big old lump thats not bad going. on a side note when you quote someones post you need to add your text before or after the quoted section otherwise your post gets a bit lost in the quote your using
  9. No the Harpers hairdressers building is owned by the Garage they rent it, I work for Bassingbourn Garage, the main workshop is to the left and the bike and car MOT bay as well as the body shop are up the back behind the hairdressers
  10. I know I'm a night mare it drives my wife nuts mainly because I cant buy a car and drive it I have to play with it and spend time and money on them but I have to say I nearly always make on my purchases even after spending money on them because I normally buy at the lowest values make it mechanically spot on then make them mint body wise and then get board and move on to the next project. It so handy having my garage workshop with all the ramps and equipment and the spray shop with the booth to use when ever I need because saves me an absolute fortune
  11. Well I think I might take this one I keep a list on my computer so I'll just copy and paste it to save time. Ive been terrorising the roads since 2000 so in 14 yrs this is what I've owned (the cars in red are cheap in-betweeners bought to get me by till I found the next car) : 1-1986 Vauxhall nova 1.2 2-1992 mk5 Ford Orion 1.6 3-1990 Vauxhall cavalier sri 2.0 4-1989 mk4 Ford Orion 1.6 5-1993 Toyota Carina E 1.6 6-1990 BMW 520I 2.0 7-1998 Peugeot 406 1.8 8-1992 MR2 na 2.0 9-1991 Nissan 200SX 1.8t 10-1990 Ford escort 1.4 11-1998 Peugeot 406 1.8 12-1990 Toyota corolla estate 1.6 13-1999 Peugeot 306 1.4 14-1996 Mercedes E class 2.0 15-1998 Peugeot 306 1.9d 16-1999 Ford Mondeo 2.5 v6 17-1989 Ford escort cabriolet 18-1998 Peugeot 406 1.8 19-1992 Honda Prelude 2.2 20-1990 MR2 turbo 2.0t 21-1999 Peugeot 406 coupe 2.0 22-1996 BMW 740 4.0 V8 23-1990 Nissan 300zx tt 3.0 24-1994 Toyota Celica GT4 2.0t 25-1990 Mitsubishi GTO tt 3.0 26-1996 200SX S14a 2.0t 27-1991 MR2 turbo 2.0t 28-1999 Peugeot 406 coupe 2.0 29-1999 Rover 200 1.4 30-1996 Vauxhall Omega 2.5 31-1997 Mitsubishi Shogun 3.0 32-1992 MR2 na 2.0 33-1994 Mitsubishi FTO 2.0 GR 34-1989 VW polo 1.2 35-1994 Mitsubishi FTO 2.0 GPX 36-Vauxhall Omega 3.0 37-1999 Ford Mondeo 1.8 38-1991 200SX s13 1.8t 39-1991 MR2 turbo 2.0t 40-1996 BMW 540I 4.4 V8 41-1998 Renault Kangoo 1.9 42-2001 Seat Arosa 1.4tdi 43-1996 Mitsubishi FTO 2.0 44-1999 BMW Z3 2.0 45-2000 BMW 728I 2.8 46-1999 Audi TT 1.8t 47-2001 BMW 540I sport 4.4 V8 48-Volvo C70 cab 2.4t 49-2000 Mercedes ML430 4.3 V8 50-1992 Suzuki Vitara 1.6 51-Suzuki Beleno 1.3 (only owned for half a day, 20mins after I posted the log book off I sold it....) 52-1995 FTO 2.0 53-2003 Audi A4 3.0 V6 54-2001 X5 4.4 V8 55-2003 X5 3.0d 56-2003 Mercedes CL55 AMG 5.5 V8 superchanged 500bhp baby.... 57-2004 Range Rover 3.0d 58-2007 Chrysler 300C 3.0d 59-2005 350Z GT4 3.5 Since February this year I've owned 5 cars (one after the other not at the same time) This year there been my X5 (always wanted one of these and I had this 10 months a record for me) Loved this so fun to drive but dreaded the suspension going wrong at £2000 a corner so made it look mint lowered it tinted the lights a sold it on Loved this too but my wife was too scared to drive it due to it's size only cleaned it up and put he wheels back to silver from black Then there was my gangster car again my wife wouldn't drive it on it's size believe it or not its wide than a Landcrusier Amazon and longer than the Range Rover before finally getting my hands a my GT4 and as I've always wanted one like my X5 I should think I'll have this a while
  12. Sorry, 187k on 04 Excellent another Z that's had a life of being enjoyed instead of a life sat in a garage or under a car cover 6 months of the year....
  13. My 2005 GT4 is on 141K I win....... and it feels as good if not better to drive than a chaps black GT4 we look after at my garage that's on 55k so to all the High Miles haters Check this out for service history: and this is missing around 13 invoices for parts I've bought in the past 5 weeks 18 services in total averaging around 8k between each 16 main dealer 1 Horsham Developments and 1 at my place using genuine parts. Total Spend on servicing through its life £8371 that's nearly a third of its original value.
  14. Forgot to say my GT4 has long legs on it with 141k and it runs great with no oil leaks, water loss, noises and it feels as tight as another GT4 I look after at my garage with just 55k on it there's no signs of ware on the seats or gear knob and the service history on mine is amazing with 17 services in the service book 16 at main dealer and the last one at Horsham Developments all backed up with invoices which are all very neatly organised with every single receipt for every little thing the GT4's ever had from wiper blades and new key fob batteries to gearbox and diff oil changes in a filled to the brim A4 box folder Given the choice if I had 2 to choose from mine and a 40-50k example with a random stamped up service book missing the odd one on time or milage also not backed up with invoices as prof and missing the spare keys and sat on budget tyres (this being an important sign of how a car is looked after budget tyres on a car like this is a big NO NO for me) then mine wins hands down
  15. I don't understand people getting hung up on mileage with motors now days with just the bare minimum maintenance engines should easily reach quarter of a million miles, I'm talking about decent cars not budget motors such as corsa's saxo's ka's ect Im a Mechanic of 15yrs and I've never been put off by high mileage to me it's all down to it's service history and I'd much prefer a high mileage well looked after example to a low miles with very little history any day, cars don't like sitting round not being used also the chances are a high miles example has had an easy life on motorways cursing which is far better than a low miles stop start town driven short journey motor with the oil never really getting up to temp just my opinion,
  16. If you go to the companies site Optimum Vehicles you'll see the actual mileage is 145,000 and not 14,500 misprint OOPS, I thought it strange to have 14 dealer stamps on 14,500 miles http://www.optimumvehicles.co.uk/nissan-350z-v6-gran-turismo-4-in-wetherby-3786606
  17. Sounds good, Would be good to meet up with another owner like you said especially as your on my door step, I'm not actually from Royston I live in Litlington and work at Bassingbourn Garage If your ever over that way or hear of any local meets let me drop me a message.
  18. First time someone I've spotted has replied, I always park somewhere over in those last 5 spaces in the corner to avoid everyone else too, if it wasn't for the fact I was in my wife's car you'd likely have been parked up next to me in my U/Y one.
  19. Saw this parked up In Royston Tesco just now Parked in my normal spot over the far side out the way in the middle of nowhere, We were in my wife's car which I try to get her to park over there especially after I've just resprayed it in cracking funky one off paint job but she just moans "what if it's raining when we come out" to which I reply " then we'll get wet but you car will still be mint......" anyway she doesn't listen I'm just waiting to say " I TOLD YOU SO!!!!!"
  20. I'm in the Biggleswade area on the A1 Welcome to the forum, I used to live in Biggleswade on Saxon Gate estate then moved to Potton before moving to where I live now Litlington just up the road from Biggleswade,Funny enough I was flying round Biggleswade Yesterday. As CharlieGSXR said we'll have to have a local meet
  21. Thanks, I really like it and it looks far better in the flesh than in the pictures
  22. Well after having my brother-in-law knock me up 2 x 20mm and 2 x 25mm spacers saved a hell of a load of cash as materials cost me £7 each and having them knocked up was free then all I had to do was buy the extended studs which cost £32 so all in £60 bonus, As normal here's a load of pics: New studs fed into place, I had a quick read up to give me a heads up on how to go about fitting them and found it was far easier than others make out in fact the other side rear wheel I didn't even remove the handbrake shoes just simply removed the retaining spring clips and just moved the shoes up and this gave me enough room at the top to feed the new studs into place before drawing them into the flange with a spacer and nut: Here's a front close up comparison one side to the other: Hit a little problem when I got to the last wheel went to crack off the locking wheel nut with a breaker bar the bloody thing broke up and took the key with it as you can see in this picture the locking wheel nut had a weakness you can see it's been rusting so must have been fractured it destroyed the key at the same time: So now had to remove the other 3 locking wheel nuts by smacking a 19mm impact socket down over them: Gave me a good excuse to by a new set of nuts so I have these arriving tomorrow: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2ed3b65721 Looks great and the wheels sit much better in the arches : Before After Before After Love the look and height it sits especially as it's still sat on standard springs with just the rear spring mount mod done so no need to look at lowering springs:
  23. I'm interested in the exhaust, where about are you?
