  1. A decent spec golf r before discount is £40k. Can’t see this being cheaper.

It will also need the usual £2k exhaust to sound half decent due to Japanese regulations. Only the Germans and the yanks build good sounding non super cars these days.

3.0 turbo v6 and auto sounds promising. The slushbox in the Alfa Quadrifoglio is better than a dct.

The 370z really needs replacing. It wasn’t a big step up from the 350z when launched, and is slow compared to modern hot hatches. I really do prefer the 350z by a mile. I can say that now I’ve sold mine without being accused of bias.

Im glad it’s not going to be a 1.5 3 cylinder engine and electric motor. That wouldn’t have surprised me.

I think £40k is a good price point for a car like this. I’d expect it to be closer to £45k once you add some decent options.

I work for an orange coloured garage, and I've seen a few cars come through that aren't great that have an AA safety check.

When I've bought cars like that I've insisted it comes with full year mot done at a garage of my choosing. I even pay for the mot. If the seller refuses I walk away.

Halfords do free safety checks that cover more than an mot, just not emissions.

The car is a 2016 with 6000 miles so it’s never had a MOT.

I was thinking the cat D DEKRA check might be worth the money? I suppose a MOT would be cheaper.

What do you think of the orange coloured garage inspections? :)

  3. I’m considering buying a cat d car but want to get it inspected. It was minor damage and the repair is well documented. But I just want to make sure everything is straight and as it should be.

Does anyone have experience with DEKRA, AA or RAC inspections?

Im thinking of going for this one.

    Thanks.

In all fairness, financial investment doesn't come into my mind when buying a car as I already know it's a terrible investment. It's for fun and enjoyment and I have the budget to do so. It's already a done deal too. :)

Good choice. I only read the first page before replying :)

I agree cars are not a investment. Ive lost a fortune over the years and will in the future.

  5. I wouldn’t let one bad experience put you off 350z’s. I had mine for 4 years without a single issue and It stood over winter. I sold it last week.

Id much rather have a nice clean, low mile, low owner 350z HR than any 370z.

Imo a new 370z will depreciate much more over the next 3 years than it has in the last 3 years. It’s one of the poorest financial decisions you could make on a car with your budget.

  6. Cat X cars are classed as non listed cars once they are repaired. Unlike Cat S and N.

I’ve been looking on copart, and seen a few category x cars with a missing/altered VIN.

Surely they can’t be stolen as they wouldn’t be available for auction. How would this be rectified? Would it have to go on a Q plate?

    Thanks

    Hi,

Just to let you know that the majority of ours insurance schemes have no issues insuring cat c, d, n or s vehicles.

    Regards,

    Dan.

Hi Dan, is it true that if a cat D car is stolen or written off insurance will only payout 50% of a equivalent non listed cars value?

  8. Looks like my car will be going tomorrow. I’ve got really mixed feelings about it.

Circumstances dictate I have no choice, but i really will miss my car. It’s been great and a pleasure to own.

No doubt the new owner will join the forum. He’s a really nice guy and he has a mint RX7 that will no doubt get a lot of love on here.

  9. I had a full beard long before it was trendy :) People generally follow hair trends and always have.

Weighlifting is a great way to attract girls, as long as you’ve not got a chipolata and 2 peas because of test, anadrol, wini etc.

Too many guys take @*!# that messes them up for life to look good. Scary how many young kids are clearly taking stuff that means they will never have kids and will have bigger tits than their mrs by 40.

That's because it's about to be replaced, so they've been killed off. Who wants an ugly ol' 6er when the new 8er looks stunning?!

The 6 series still looks good.........I hope your mrs doesn’t read this forum!

she will be thinking you want to trade her in :)

  11. Current m6 and m6 grand coupe are awesome cars. Spec is unreal and power is savage. Really good value at the moment.

I prefer the f10 M5 though, especially for £25k. I’d just be too scared of something going wrong.

Despite being an RS, i'm not a hatchback guy... I've never liked them.  I think out of the Audi range the TT is the most appealing.  Good shout though about swapping to an alternative.  One to consider for sure.

I know what you mean. I think they look more like mini avants though. I love them. Saloon looks good too.

That mustang is pretty impressive though.
