  1. New head unit (Pioneer 2600) and reversing camera installed by Toby at Shocksaway, would highly recommend, great job done and all sounds much better even without upgraded amp/sub/speakers and camera means I can actually reverse without wondering when the crunching sound will come! Already succumbed to one last mod (although I think I am kidding myself that it will the last!) decided to get some of the black 'Zed' emblems/lettering to replace the Nissan ones so might give the removal of the existing badges at the weekend a go. Once the respray is done next week will pop some new pictures up with all the changes.
  2. Well job done, next door neighbour was chatting about the car when he offered to help me do the change of the knob! 5 minutes later and all complete, wasn't too tough to shift initially but ironically was tough all the way through the untwisting but once off new one went on like a dream and managed to twist a whole 360 beyond where it initially wouldn't budge so shouldn't be coming loose anytime soon. Well chuffed, two mods in a day and now a new stereo to look forward to next week. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Yes I did see that, not looking forward to it but hoping that it might be nice to me and come off without needing Geoff capes to help out;) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Knob arrived today and no duties so good result! All now fitted and looking great! Fitted a black Zunsport grill this morning and all side/indicator bulbs changes too. Service done with Sly yesterday didn't show anything too scary and the new black diamond disks look pretty nice through the wheels Monday brings the new head unit/reversing camera and then the only jobs left are: - Sly to replace the rear bushes in a couple of weeks (these were an advisory on the previous service) - me to attempt to respray the door handle/armrests using one of the guides on here to show me how - Front bumper respray and fitting of the new clear reflectors whilst the bumper is off Fingers crossed I can then sit back and enjoy the summer!
  5. All done, first proper modification completed with only a small hole in one finger to show for it looks good too and glad I went for the black and not stainless as def looks good against the gunmetal paint. Next mod hopefully Monday when I need to try and remove the gear knob and replace with the spanking new tan original received this morning for the US of A Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. Not sure if anyone would have one hanging around but appears the aftermarket pipe in my 2006 350 has been 'sawn' through and as the guy I bought the car from now seems to be ignoring me since he promised he would send the original through to me I may have to resort to trying to find a replacement myself. Can any kind soul help me out as this 350z'itis is starting to seriously damage my bank account so needing to economically try and sort this one out. Thanks in advance.
  7. That's my job for the weekend sorted then cheers Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. Perfect, cheers guys so no need to remove the bumper to fit the grill (I might attempt it myself if this is true)
  9. I have looked at some previous posts on this and am confused between the instructions that arrived with the grill and what seems to have been posted previously about how to fit so hoping someone can advise. The grill instructions suggest this is a straight replacement, screw in and job done, the grill on my facelift has the two slats as we know and therefore in my mind the new grill cannot possibly just screw on without somehow removing the slats? I am a DIY numpty so as the front bumper is due to be sprayed in a couple of weeks I was just going to hand over the new grill (and hopefully my new clear reflectors if they arrive in time from the US) and get them to swap them over but knowing my local body shop if there is anything more than undoing a screw or two they will say they don't want to do it so I wanted to check before taking it in to them. I appreciate any advice given.
  10. Having just bought mine at 89k I had a slightly different philosophy, I went in knowing in all likelihood I would need to replace exhaust, brakes etc. and as expected this has proven to be true, I am also treating it to a full set of oil changes, belts and filters and in reality after all is done I will have a 350z facelift GT roadster in the colours I wanted (gunmetal/orange interior) for around 7.5k. That may seem expensive but my thinking was this, anything I bought from 45k miles upwards would likely need new brakes, probably still need a P3 service and due to age if not mileage maybe a new exhaust at some point in the near future so I could have paid £7-7.5k+ privately and £8.5k+ from a trader and got no more of a warranty (3mths if lucky) and still needing to spend the £1-1.5k replacing the bits I have mentioned on top! May be seem flawed logic to some but mine came with new tyres, very decent bodywork, refurb end wheels and a FSH and stack load of MOTs and stamps/records to show what had/hadn't been done which some of the less high milers didn't and as one at a trader that I enquired about showed I wouldn't believe anything that was said as it had a steady mileage each year and was sitting at 40k but interestingly they didn't have the last service/MOT info and allegedly it had done 200 miles in the last 23 months, yeah right!!!
  11. And arrived today, superb service and many thanks as looks much better than he OEM
  12. The alezan gear knobs seem to wear very quickly. Mine looked like it came off some 100k car when the car had actually only done 20k miles from new! They arnt cheap. I ended up getting a new one from a trader on here at a good price. Think it was about £100. I really should have just got a cheapie alloy one off ebay for a tenner, but i wanted to keep the car original. The exhausts on them tends to start to blow just before the backbox, the pipe there is prone to cracking. You can get them welded, or alternatively an aftermarket system is pretty cheap - something like a scorpian or cobra system. Yep the knob was about £80 but likely to have import duties when it arrives so £100 all in I suspect The exhaust has a nice little hole exactly where you mention, the rest is actually in very good condition but I would prefer to change the whole thing than end up constantly needing to get it welded/patched up, a bit of an annoying cost from day 1 but I want to get it properly fixed up so better be prepared to spend a few quid first! 13. Found these (taken by the seller not me!) The key selling point for me (marmite I suspect!!!!)
  14. You are a star, thanks so much Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. Will do, might wait for the front bumper respray though
  16. Thanks all, GMb thanks for the info/link out of interest how easy/hard is to remove the handle/housing (especially for a complete numpty when it comes to DIY/mechanical stuff)? Re the exhaust I am a bit confused over whether to replace/repair especially as this appears to be the original exhaust (85k miles) any advice appreciated, I don't mind spending a few pounds to get everything sorted up front as I plan to make this a keeper!
  17. Just picked up my 'new' 350 roadster this afternoon, 2006 gunmetal with orange interior and although higher mileage than ideal it runs nicely (I suspect the exhaust may be on its last legs although never owned a Zed before perhaps I just need to get used to the noise I am looking to tidy it up as much as possible even though it is in very good condition there are a few niggles so it's booked in for the front bumper to be resprayed due to the usual 8 years of stone chips and scuffs etc. the gear knob is very tired so a new one is winging its way from the US as couldn't find an orange one anywhere 'local' it's also going to have the side light bulbs replaced and the indicators to silver as that is a pet hate of mine. Must admit I have been shocked by how many looks I have had since driving home today and the guy at the body shop asked if they could hang on to it for a few weeks to 'test drive' it!! Hope over time I can contribute something to the forums but for a while I suspect I will be asking more than I am able to give! In that vein I do have one issue which is the interior handles (where the switches are) are very scruffy (paint all chipped off) but I don't seem to be able to find anywhere that sells replacements so any advice pointers much appreciated.
