  1. So quick update, had whole HU out and all earthing checked etc but nothing doing, problem still there, whistling particularly noticeable at low speed. Fitter suggested could be an Amp issue rather than the new unit install or wiring (did also check with a ground loop isolator but no improvement. Any other ideas much appreciated as still a bit p****d off if I am being honest Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  3. Mine fitted this morning, massive improvement from the old scratched ones. Anyone in the South East I would recommend Paul at Kent Custom Dipping based near Maidstone (http://www.kentcustomdipping.co.uk/ ) excellent service even including a tour round his new premises and a genuinely nice bloke too, only a week from dropping off to returned and fitted so no complaints from me Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=331205200957 is £38 plus postage and choose the lower price postage option should be less than £50 total Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Can't help right now I'm afraid but if it helps I got mine from Nissan chesapeake eBay US all in for about £48 and took about a week from order to arrival customs/fee free unfortunately none of the UK traders on here had any of the facelift ones in stock Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. I've just had mine Hydro dipped ~ it cost me £70 for the d/s, p/s and the p/s grab handle all to be dipped with a carbon fibre weave. If you don't want to spray paint it (which will probably come off anyway) then that's what I'd do. Link; http://www.wickedcoatings.co.uk/water-transfer-printing-about-us Exactly the same price and parts as I'm having done at the mo, hopefully collecting in the next day or two to pop back on the car Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. That price is amazing compared to most of the online tyre places, wonder how they can do them so cheap? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. Since getting the Z it's had two little trips to see the highly regarded Kaizer Motors and Sly. First thing that hit me was just how clean the place was, not a spec of dirt anywhere how can that be??? Anyway after Graham had suggested that Sly was my man to look after the new toy I gave him a call and asked for a general check over and also whether he could fit some new discs/pads which of course Sly more than happily accommodated. All done in a few hours (spent the time being dragged round Bluewater by the OH who realised how close the two were!!! After the work was done and for a lot less than any Nissan dealer or even my local garage would do we arranged for it to come back in a couple of weeks to have the banana arm bushes to be taken care of (usual front end knocking issue) So last week it goes back in and this time I stayed to see the master work! Minutes after arriving he has the arms off and unfortunately they need more attention than just the bushes, can't pretend to know what the problem is but the other end with the cone etc is turning around like a very loose thing on both arms so Sly's advice was to replace both arms - yes expensive but will last a good few years and won't need any more attention so bit the bullet and 30 mins later two shiny new arms are fitted and job done, all by 9.30am what more can you ask for. All in all as good a service as shown on the forum, thanks again to Graham for telling me to go and see Sly, no offence but hopefully won't need to come back too soon though but when the next inevitable work is needed no doubt I will be back. 9. Having hardly seen any 350s since buying mine a few weeks back imagine my surprise yesterday when as I pull up at the London Road roundabout in my rear view mirror I spot an identical GM with Orange seats behind me (coupe not roadster like mine) I didn't catch the reg but wondered whether was someone on here? 10. Me too, big improvement on whatever was on there before! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. +1 It is the things you do to improve it that costs. My experience is - Year 1 New exhaust (~£400) + free service, spark plugs and fan unit (warranty) from Nissan (P3 service + plugs normally ~£350 from Indy) Year 2 Service + bits and bobs (~£500) Year 3 The year I planned to sell it ! But I couldn't find a good enough alternative so decided to keep it for another couple of years.... New convertible roof (~£700) New tyres (~£700) New leather finish on steering wheel (~£100) Refurbished wheels (~£160) Paint correction (~£200) A service later in the year Wow, I better make sure the wife doesn't see this ! Though the depreciation is low now that it's 8 years old, I thought I would do the same as you although my ownership is a grand total of 4 weeks! This is going to hurt but I might feel better writing it down Week 1 New exhaust £650 Week 2 service, front brake discs and pads, gearbox and diff oil and plugs etc £585 Week 3 paint job (needed as the bumper was showing 8 yrs of chips and bumps) £180 Week 4 Banana arms (both replaced as shot to bits) £500 'Cosmetics' in 4 weeks new gear knob, head unit and rev camera, stubby aerial, smoked side repeaters, led bulbs, clear reflectors and black badges all round £725 So total spend in 4 weeks including the car itself £8640 but on balance I now hopefully have a 2006 facelift roadster with fairly new tyres, refurbed wheels, very clean interior and exterior paintwork and fingers crossed nothing mechanically to sort out for another year or so! One concern left is the roof which has a couple of small creases/holes appearing in the usual places so may end up at the end of the summer getting it sorted although local coach fitter said replacement should be less than £500 all in which seems to good to be true but will check that nearer the time Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. Updated with some new pics of the front (bumper respray, black badges and clear reflectors) and rear with black badges
  13. So quick update, am going to have to take it back as in additon to the detailed issues seems the HU is now randomly changing the date (jumped a month ahead and then lost a day) i think some electronic gremlins have got into my systems somehow!
  14. Just hold onto it, it's fine, not sure how much fun it would be trying to fish it out though Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. Exactly the same look asad's black badges on GM (roadster) when mine comes back from the body shop tomorrow after having the front bumper resprayed, looking forward to seeing it even more as yours does look very cool.
  16. Very easy, slide a credit card either side. And push gently the clip and the lens will pop off, just don't let the bulb drop back inside
  17. Sorry guys managed to source both a new box and pipe (one from these very forums) so hopefully all sorted now.
  18. That's very kind of you and really appreciate the offer. To be honest 20 years ago I was whipping stereos in and out of my cortinas, granadas and mini metros like it was going out of fashion but I just don't have the confidence to play around now and not to mention even extracting the head unit looks a bit scary (I don't have any keys either so pulling it out might be a challenge assuming it slides straight out vs. the Bose unit which looks like you need to remove the entire centre console.) If any kind soul in the South East feels brave and wouldn't mind helping me out for 30 mins to try and resolve this (I have purchased a ground loop isolator in case the earthing is all ok) then it would be appreciated with some beer money thrown in of course Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. It is more frustrating as the fitter came from great recommendations on the forum but beginning to wish had just gone local in the first place now Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. Not wanting to put too much of a downer on your plans but I picked up my new one a few weeks ago, since then and despite me getting it for a good price (in my opinion) I have spent around £1500 on exhaust, brake discs/pads, rear bushes (and it may need CA bushes too!) gearbox, diff and engine oil and from reading a lot of threads on the forum nothing I have done is that unusual for a newly acquired 350 the only difference is when you need/choose to have the work done! Not saying you shouldn't buy but just factor in these are def not cheap cars to run and just thinking about finance/insurance/fuel is probably not the best way to do it. Good luck whatever you decide Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. Hmm, not impressed as although installer says will look at the problem this will only be at the original location is 200 mile trip, considering its a mobile fitter I hoped my offer to meet just over half way (me doing 120 of the miles) was fair but apparently not so I have to incur £50 of extra cost to get a problem that exists only since the install has actually pi**ed me off frankly, Looks like I might have to now get a local audio shop to fix the problem as even with a £50 bill it's saving me 4 hours of my time too.
  22. Unfortunately it was a long trek to arrange but I may have to do that unfortunately. Appreciate the advice/suggestions as to what might be causing it
  23. Hmmm, rather hoped you wouldn't say that, as it was fitted for me at not inconsiderable cost I am a bit miffed I now have to sort this out. I am not even sure how to extract the head unit to be honest, let alone hunt down the earth!
  24. I had the Bose unit removed this week and replaced with a shiny new Pioneer 2600 Head Unit but since being installed I now have a problem that I remember from my old Cortina/Capri days 20+ years ago where there is a whistling type noise coming through the speakers when accelerating, it is more noticeable at lower 'town' speeds than motorway speed but is quite annoying when trundling around and listening to less 'heavy' music as the whistling is quite intrusive. Any ideas as I would really like to get rid as it wasn't there with the OEM system? Cheers.
