  1. A new roof booked in for Feb, not sure how I will feel once the CC gets handed over to pay for it but with the water inside now as bad as outside I realised I had to bite the bullet and book her in Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. Pulled out from the garage after having a hastily replaced battery fitted around 1.30pm today, looked in my RVM and did a double take at a fellow GM 350 albeit coupe not a roadster like mine but just surprised to have 2 350s in a row in sleepy S.E Kent.
  3. Had Jack fit me another wheel today, this time into my ML, so impressed with my 350z one that had to get another done! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. It would be staying on the drive rather than in a garage, I was thinking about a cover but not sure if that would exacerbate the issue or make it better?
  5. The expected 'ouch' of the £500 VeD letter came through this morning and got me thinking about how much I am realistically going to use the roadster over the winter period and whether if the tax had run out at the end of Sept instead of now I may have SORN'd it from Oct to March/April instead? So I was thinking about the following - tax it for now for 12 months and then either just before end of Sept (if weather turns sh*t) or end of Oct to claim a refund and the. Re-tax it at end of March - are there any flaws to this plan, I don't think i get shafted for fees by DVLA and I will keep it insured so no issues there? What about the Zed itself, I would plan to let it run and also move it around a bit on the drive so it doesn't seize up too much but other than the usual advice on leaving cars for too long anything specific I should look out for? Any advice before I implement this money saving plan?
  6. I hate to suggest this but for £7 each side a quick trip to Halfords will do the job for you, even if you buy the bulbs elsewhere they will change them for their standard 'fit' price, at least the one local to me did, no fiddling around and they can mess about while you stand and watch at them do the hard work Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Still looking Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. Ffs, I really despair, just tried to push it back and nothing doing, I dare not put any more pressure on it as it is clearly not 'clipping/pushing' under the dash, I pushed as hard as possible on the edge of the satnav cover and sides of the console but as you say don't want to use the housings as I can imagine them snapping off! It feels like something is stopping it moving forwards, I wonder if when the HU was fitted there are some wires/joining boxes etc stuck behind the stereo preventing it going in? Well another trip back to the fitter to get it sorted I suppose! It's funny as since it was rechecked for the earth problems I had noticed a bit more 'squeaking' from the dash so I suspect the two might be connected even though I didn't realise at the time Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Arrghhh just when I thought I had everything sorted my wife just said to me when she came out to the car that the middle of the dash doesn't look right! I just took some pictures and it looks like when the centre console was taken out to fit the HU etc that it may not have been replaced properly? I am 99% sure it is not right but before I have a complete meltdown and start losing my mind can someone confirm it is def not fitted straight and more importantly can this be fixed easily or does the whole console need to come out again?
  10. And to reinforce my point (about the eBay seller )surprise he hasn't got one! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. Lol, yes was the eBay seller I was referring to Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. I think this seller comes up a fair bit and never has anything useful but will ping him a question and see, cheers. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. Not able to help so still looking.
  14. I did this just before I hit 40, bought a sensible SV650 for a year to get used to biking again as it had been a while then got the ultimate toy I could never afford before, a brand new GSXR750, and it was my pride and joy BUT!!!! i found i just didnt use it as much as I wanted, if it wasnt the weather, the family, work etc. getting in the way when I did go out on it I was so aware of all the other tw*ts on the road, the terrible state of the roads that I spent more time looking for potholes than enjoying the riding (and mine was just a weekend bike too) I was a 100% biker as a lad (in fact didnt even get a car until i had been riding for a couple of years, but as an older (and hopefully wiser and more interested in my longeviety) I can honestly say I just didnt get the same fun factor/pleasure out of it, and ultimately got rid this year and replaced it with the Zed! I would say if you do it get something cheap/cheerful and then if you really do use it and enjoy it get something that you really want next year.
  15. I know this is a real longshot but having spoken to Jack Smith in Swansea I am hoping that someone might have a spare rear glass that could be supplied to them to enable easier turnaround of replacement roof fitting? As most roadster owners know to get a replacement roof usually comes in around £500-550 plus fitting at the regularly suppliers bumps the price to £750-850, for those who dont know Jack Smith will do the roof for £280 but his problem is needing the car for 2-3 days to take the existing window out and fit/bond it to the new hood. If he can get hold of a replacement glass he can then offer a 3 hour service to replace and fit. So, this is my attempt to do a bit of a forum service and try and get him a glass to start the process off, once he has it and people then contact him the job is swift and painless (although he is already booking to September!!!! If anyone can help I am happy to pay a reasonable price for the glass and have it sent to them direct and start the ball rolling for future replacements! Thanks in advance, Nick
  16. Well I am a very happy chap, after taking chunks out of my hand I have managed to swap over the amp for a direct replacement amp and although I only did a short drive test but it looks like my problems might be resolved No obvious whistle and no random volume fluctuations, so am very pleased! One odd question though, does anyone know what this part is It was attached on the reverse of the amp framework, looks like it is some sort of earthing box but is a Clarion part so def looks like part of the BOSE set up and if that needs changing I would like to make sure I have changed all of the amp parts?
  17. Through the wheel arch, upclip it and hand in the gap, fiddly as hell though Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. Now found. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. As above looking for a replacement as believe mine to be faulty (although not 100% sure it is the amp so don't want to spend the earth obviously!) can anyone help with a fully working one to replace it? Cheers, Nick Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. I've had a better idea, am going to try and get hold of a replacement Bose amp and switch them over (even I should be able to do that) and at least that will show me whether the problem is the amp or if the HU installation is actually the issue, if other people have installed the same HU without changing the amp etc then this should prove one way or another if the issue is a bad installation or a broken/faulty amp. One wanted ad going up! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. Not really impatient as such but as the HU was fitted weeks ago and hasn't worked properly since and having spent over £500 already I'm just a bit pi**ed that I can't actually enjoy the sound in the car, also being a soft top another month or more and we will already be halfway through summer so really would have liked it done before it gets put away for the winter!! Honestly I think sounds alarming don't want the work at all, if they had said we can fit you in early July that would be fine but basically they just said sorry no can do and palmed me off. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. I should add that during the call with sounds alarming all sounded fine to start with priced up as ~£250 total for the fitting of both the amp and the front speaker change over (plus the sub amp changeover and all wiring) and including putting the new amp behind the rear cubby - then add cost of amp and speakers so all was sounded pretty reasonable in all honesty but just a shame corporate stuff obviously is more 'valuable' to them now. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. So far as follows: Toby - shocks away fitted HU and has re looked at prob with no fix and after 2 chase ups has not provided me with a response to quote for fitting amp/speakers as a way of sorting whistling and potential amp issue Sounds alarming as above nothing doing Eclipse mobile - referred via the above but having spoken to him over a week ago and being promised a call back nothing doing Communicar - looked at car said might be able to install a 2 ch amp to front speakers but after nearly 2 weeks no further info or response with 2 chase ups Enigmacar - quoted £1200 for an amp and 2 speaker install, surprisingly not going there! Two others that I have forgotten that weren't sure about doing a 350z as not done one before Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
