  1. Thanks for the feedback guys! I didn't post this up to cause any agro or make it look like i'm slagging off a dealer... But we ALL get pi**ed off at times and Sunday wasn't a great day to begin with, so my review reflected my lingering feelings... With a bit of work i guess it could be a lovely car for someone.. I love the way it looked and although the exhaust system had "Nismo" on it, it sounded far far far too loud compared to others i've heard and driven to be resonated... I could be wrong though! If i was over flowing with spare cash, then i'd probably make him a cheeky offer and then do bits to it to make it my own car, but i don't think that's going to happen now... Coventry is a big place, central to the UK and someone will come along and give him what he's asking i'm sure... Anyhoo! Where's my beer gone... What a day!
  2. I might go back and buy it now... Then stick an even longer ariel on it to annoy everyone here even further :teeth:
  3. Yeah... Body work isn't such a bad point as i work for an automotive paint supplier and have a lot of good friends with very good bodyshops... I guess i'm just a bit fussy... That's not always a bad thing but it goes both ways! Thanks all the same, i'm sure the right car will come up and i'm in no big rush anyway...
  4. Yes, i phoned up 4 hours prior to my visit! I am aware of the shape of the front end, i've been around these cars a long time. Some are worse than others. Yes, i am also aware of the dreaded 2nd gear issue and it's not something i'd put up with for long. It CAN be fixed without big expense. Flywheel chatter is normal but hearing it over a none resonated exhaust system, should not be. I am aware that the discs are not carbon ceramic. They will rust, but he had 4 hours notice. He could have sorted the battery, gone around the block to clean them off and had plenty of time for it to return to cold before my appointment time. Good point about the engine bay. My butt dyno knows the difference between one car and another. Maybe certain things do adjust the way a car picks up to speed or reacts to a throttling but it didn't seem to give me the same push back as other relatively standard Z's of the same year have. Sorry if i've upset anyone by writing an honest review. Clearly i didn't word myself very well. Feel free to delete the post, i'd rather that than a influx of crap to read through which is aimed at me rather than... Oh, never mind.
  5. Yeah, i fully appreciate that and even reading it back, i thought i might be in for some stick. Obviously i wasn't expecting a full on minter for it's age and given it's in a trade centre. It's not the first Z i've been to see, no. We've had a few in our family, it's just i've never owned, only driven... I've always had Nissan straight 6's R33's and started out with 200sx 4 pot tubby's... So i have grown fairly used to Z's and although MOST of that which i have mentioned is common to see on a 10 year old Z, it just annoyed me at how it was described, to how it was when i got there... I don't butter my cars up to be perfect when selling, if they're not. But then again, at £7k, it's probably not going to be... Anyway, that was my 2 pence worth.
  6. Yesterday (Sun 13th) i took it upon myself to go on a mini road trip... I had to go to Birmingham anyway to pick up some of my things from a friends house and decided to carry on over to Coventry to have a look at the car linked below... The pictures looked stunning! From a distance, it was a very nice looking car, the Nismo body kit suits it very well. Up close however the wheels are badly in need of a full refurb, the body work is not all that desirable, especially the dreaded front end (which is battered!), the gear knob had very excessive wear for a 58k car (not 56k as advertised!) and when he came to start it, it was dead as a door nail, so out came the battery pack! On start up, the fly wheel was making some noise which i could hear over the exhaust note. On top of this, under the bonnet wasn't too clean, it was a bitch to get into second from cold (although it wasn't cold for long! lol) and it somehow felt slightly down on ponies... Whatever you do, don't shut the drivers door with the window down, it sounds like it's hanging on inside the door by a thread! Clonk, bang, tink.... It also had non-standard grooved (rusty) discs which made that horrible silvery scraping noise when travelling at low speed... The full service history was not very full at all and the guy trying to sell it at this "trade" sale type warehouse was completely clueless when it came down to telling me about the car, it's past, it's previous owner(s) etc.. To top it off, the price in the window was £7490! NOT £6990... There will probably be things i have forgotten to note, but i was too pi**ed off last night to write a semi-diplomatic review of this particular car... Needless to say, i walked away (after a test drive - for sh*ts n giggles)... On the plus side... The Nismo exhaust system sounded absolutely divine through the rev range, not at all subtle - which i don't mind! So, just a friendly warning to anyone considering wasting some fuel to go and see it, like i did! http://www.coventryautolounge.co.uk/used-cars/nissan-350-z-3-5-v6-3dr-bayton-industrial-estate-201403272842756 **MODS** If this is in the wrong area, then move it and accept my apologies
  7. Another Sunset 03 GT today approaching Shrewsbury from Church Stretton direction... Possibly on a private plate, only caught a glimpse... And a very clean looking, black GT driven by what i can only politely describe as a rather old lady on the Welsh Bridge in Shrews town centre...
  8. Take it from me... Once you wrap a vehicle, you will NEVER properly remove the adhesive that is used from the grain of the paint underneath without flatting it and re-spraying... Also... It has no roof. I'm a tin top man i'm afraid, but each to their own
  9. Yeah, if that's the case then it might be wise to source a cheap, broken handle from a breakers yard (to test paint)... Some products react with others. If that is the case then you can barcoat it and then basecoat, then clearcoat... if you test it and it doesn't react or curdle at all then you could use the original paint as your primer because it will already have an etch underneath the top layer and should be absolutely fine if no reaction occurs on the test subject
  10. Hi all... First one was an 04 orange in Newtown, Powys seen on my deliveries... Second was a gorgeous looking black GT in Welshpool (same place i always see it, outside it's home)... Third was on the way home, Battlefield Island, Shrewsbury... Gorgeous custom blue paint job, nice exhaust note, few subtle mods (EDIT: private plates starting P11 ***) that i couldn't pay too much attention to as we pulled out onto the island together (sound's so romantic) haha... Anyone know these cars or who it might be from the very lame descriptions? Maybe it was you?
  11. I believe so yes! You don't have to use a "plasti-coat" so to speak! That is the proper DIY way of doing things! In order to do a proper job, look at getting a clear plastic primer, choose the colour you want (metallics will be basecoat which require a clear coat or lacquer) and then keep a very fine key between coats using a wet and dry paper of no harsher than about p2000! Any scaring left visable below the clear coat could be taken out with a clay cloth unless it's too deep... Very very gentle with the rubbing down for a key etc...
  12. Just as a little pointer (i work in automotive paint!)... If the handles are plastic then you will want to use a plastic primer to prevent any kind of peeling or lack of adhesion. They can come in either coloured or clear. Then apply your top coat whether it be basecoat and lacquer or solid 2k (probably not for handles!) BUT whatever you do, don't buy cheap tat! Halfrauds, you get what you pay for! Look up your local automotive paint and consumables bodyshop supplier and they will point you in the right direction! Whatever you do, don't be disappointed when Halfrauds amazing quality paint range lets you down superbly! Buy cheap, buy twice Hope this helped a little bit!
  13. This is true! I shall certainly bear it in mind Not sure if i'll be Zedded by next month but if i am, i will do everything i can to escape the "group honeymoon" scenario lol <---- Wow, that sounded dodgy haha!
  14. On your recommendation, i shall most definitely MISS that weekend On a serious note, sounds like fun, but a bit short notice for me now as i am a wedding driver on that weekend! We are then going camping in Snowdonia so we won't be far away
  15. You could always sell stuff on eBay to get the extra cash?!. You'd be surprised what people will buy from there and it can be a good way of getting rid of stuff you're not using anymore or don't want. Hope you find a good Zed soon. Cheers dude Yeah, i've had a number of my guitars and my gig amp on ebay now for nearly 6 weeks and only 2 out of 5 have sold!!! Not including the amp! Oh well, keep trying lol...
  16. Thanks for all the warm welcomes guys! Definitely amongst the more welcoming forums out there! Can't wait to be a Zed driver! Just trying to figure out how to fund the extra two grand or so i'd like to get my hands on in order to pick up a decent car... I'm sure i should find something nice for £5.5k - £7k mark when my finance comes through!
  17. Thanks a lot dude! They will come in handy I've just been having a look myself but haven't stumbled across these yet!
  18. Thanks everyone! I'm near constantly researching when i get in from work, of an evening. So, i'm getting there slowly! It won't be an 06^ model due to the stupid difference in tax. But i'd love to find a very nice, clean, well looked after example. UK car with GT pack essential as is comprehensive FSH etc... Would probably plan to budget for around £6000 - £7500 Once my car has sold and i have pennies together...
  19. Hi folks. Just wanted to do the decent thing and introduce myself. I'm Mike, 30 and Shropshire is my location. I don't own a Zed just yet, but will be looking to fairly soon. My main predicament is that i currently drive my first ever dirty tractor powered car in the form of a Saab 9-3 1.9TID 150 Vector Sport - Remapped to 187 (pants power, i know!)... It has cost me a fortune in repairs due to electrical faults and failings, all of which are rare for the model... I am and always have been a Jap car lover at heart though, having owned everything from Mk2 MR2's to 200sx's and even an R33 Gts-t and GTR... However a big change in circumstances in recent years gone by, brought on by major surgery on each of my legs has left me slowly crawling back into the realm of "decent cars" and given that i've always been a huge fan of the 350 and not yet owned one... IT IS TIME So, tomorrow, my Saab goes in for another £1250 of repairs inc New 3 piece clutch kit, DMF, oil service, trailing arms/bushes and discs and pads all around with the local specialist. This, along with everything else that i've had done, should help towards a decent price when i come to sell her, in favour of my long time desired Zed So... Sorry to waffle on in my first post about the Swedish wheels, but once i've found the right Zed for me and the money is there to secure it, i'll be a much more familiar face around here i hope and should do some meets too when i get the time and money! Any hints, tips or useful things to look out for when Zed shopping would be mega appreciated as although i'm by far not a Nissan and Nismo virgin, i'm not overly familiar just yet with all things "Z Power"! Thanks all, Mike ("Shifty")
