  1. Hi Guys,

I have upgrade all the pads to Red Stuff, since then the rear left hand brake produces a very annoying & embarrassing screech under light braking. I took the car back to Horsham Dev and they kindly took the rear pads out, refaced and re-greased, but still no joy. They suggested replacing the pads for a softer compound or replacing the disks. The disks have only done 34k.

    Any suggestions welcome?

Have been looking a PAGID disks as they are reasonably priced, anyone used these?

    Cheers

  2. Evening, just wondered if anyone has attempted to cover the headliner in a 350 with alcantara or other materials? Was it easy, cost much, any recommendations.

    Cheers

  3.

I owned a 05 M3 manual for a while. In summary, nice car, awesome engine, didn’t like the manual box throws were too long! and clutch was very heavy. Obviously inspection 2 servicing is £££, at the time I had mine it was around the £900 mark. The older ones have the potential rear subframe issue, so one to watch out for and check. Also check for running in service and that the valve shims have been checked / replaced at the required intervals. A lot of car for the money but costs quite a bit more that a Z to run and maintain properly.

Also worth getting one with the Harmon Kardon system as standard stereo is naff!

Have a HR Z now, wouldn't go back but glad I had one!

  4. Hi Guys,

Just wondered if anyone with a facelift Z has upgraded the Xenon bulbs? The OEM ones are OK but not as good (bright) as some I've had in previous cars BMW etc. Have even adjusted the hight / throw slightly not much improvement.

    Any thoughts, suggestions?

    Cheers

  5. Hi Guys,

    Tried search for this.

Does anyone know if the 350 needs XL rated tyres or will standard be OK?

Looking at Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2, XL's are £35 more......

    Cheers

  6. Nice car mate, good interior combo. Can I ask, is that SJ specialist cars? Looks like it from the pictures of the house. If so, word of warning about him. I was selling my 05 E46 M3 and got a call from what seemed like a nice genuine bloke. Sold the car to him, at the time of filling in the log book he put in his company details which he said was a wheel refurbish company, I asked if he was a trader, he said he was not a trader just a genuine private buyer.

So as I guessed, turned out that he was a trader as I saw my car advertised on the trader and Pistonheads.

In addition to that, my brother managed to track down the new buyer on the M3Cutters forum, when I sold the car I was the 5th owner, but the new buyer said the car had only had 3 previous owners, so looks like something had been done to the log book. There are loads of threads about SJ Specialist cars on the net and M3Cutters, worth a read....

  7. Hi Will, just thought I'd comment on this as it was me that was driving my recently acquired 350 :). I've only just come on here to take a look and spotted this!

FYI, although mine's an 07, it's an early one so it's a rev up, not an HR.

Sorry for coming across rude; I'd only had the car for 3 days and was experiencing a few issues (mainly the clutch master cylinder failing in that traffic jam!!). All is well now, so next time I see you, i'll be sure to give a wave and maybe stop :). I live in Whetstone, so i'm usually passing through the area at some point.

    Hi Mate.

    Welcome to The Forum. :welcome:

Clutch problems are common with the Zed had mine done as well recently.

You probably won't recognise mine now, changed a few bit on her. See "WhackyWill does Black Betty" thread.

I live just off Colney Hatch Lane, sometimes pop in The Orange Tree in Totteridge.

I'm glad to see there are a few around my area, certainly don't see many.

Yep stop and have a chat anytime.

There is a big Zed meet at The Ace Cafe on Sat 20th Sept I'm sure you would be welcome.

    Thanks for the welcome :)

I'll be sure to take a look at the changes! :)

I've done a few bits to mine too but mainly preventative maintenance. I've fitted new brakes, clutch slave cylinder, rebuilt the clutch master cylinder, stainless clutch line, scorpion exhaust and Pioneer DAB head unit. It's got the Bose system which it sounds pretty good with!

I've also done a few bits to the interior, such as paint up all the dash plastics that accumulate scratches. I've found Halfords flexible vinyl paint in black to be a near on perfect match for the zed's scratch hungry dash plastics.

Here's a few pics of mine as it stands at the moment :)

I've only ever been to the Orange Tree a few times but it was a lovely pub. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I'm moving to Reading next week for a new job, so I won't be around as much any more. I'm always driving through Frien Barnet when visiting my girlfriend who lives in Islington.

    Hi mattmanslim,

Welcome! Can I ask, how do you like the Scorpion exhaust? I'm thinking of getting one, but can decide between that or the Corba!

    Cheers
