  1. Clarion 10inc sub will take a pic when I go to garage fit a cheap amp in as well. £25 sub off eBay and amp was a second hand one off eBay as well under £40

Ah see its even easier if you stick with the 10" I was greedy and made the whole bigger, typical bloke syndrome! ha ha I like what you have done though dude, I have done the same with the amp to.

HIGH FIVE FOR THE LOVE OF BASS!!!!

  2. Forgive my ignorance, but shouldn't the sub be in a box (sealed or ported) of some kind to get the best out of it?

Just asking as it was previously in a box.

Good question but the original BOSE one was in there before so the space was designed for it. I made sure I cushioned every bit of metal to metal so that there was no rattle when I cranked it up. Sounds mint and you get a cheeky back massage when you put a dirty sound on :p

  3. I never liked the bose sub position, to much bass there was just annoying as you felt it hitting you in the back. Bass should be non directional and just fill the car with nice clean sound. They could of done a better job if they made the bose sub enclosed and ported into the boot space.

You are right but I do like the massage effect it has on my back ha ha, brings a bit of boy racer luxury to my drive :drive1

  4. What is the sound like? Have you just screwed it straight into the metal?

Would have thought it would vibrate like crazy and sound awful?

It sounds awesome as there its designed to have a sub in anyway, I've just out a bigger one in. I did screw it straight down to the metal but I used the original padding inbetween all the bits of touching metal. I made sure nothing was lose as I was putting it back together. The best bit is if I crank it right up I get a nice bass massage ha ha

  5. When I bought my car it had an awesome 12" sub in the boot but as you know the Zeds boot isn't very big and this sub was in a box. So I first decided to make the box smaller, but I realised that the built in sub wasn't working so I popped the cover off and it wasn't working......it wasn't there at all. So I had a missing sub and a sub I still wanted in my car.

My first thought was why don't I just put the 12" sub in the hole where the original was, but NO of corse its to big. I then thought why don't it put it in anyway and modify the existing hole. Even if I ballsed it up at least I could put the cover back on and hide my failed attempted (shame).

I made the hole bigger by cutting slots all around and folded the tabs back, I did this so there wasn't a sharp edge and also they can be bent back if I sell it and someone wants to put the original back in, clever stuff aye! I had to shave off some of the trim so that the sub sits right and had to loose one clip but there are loads anyway. I even used the original sticky padding so that it doesnt rattle.

It works a treat and I'm so happy with how its turned out, I did think halfway through that I was gonna have to abort, but if your gonna try this yourself make a template up first, its alot easier than guessing trust me.

  6. I've recently notice that when I am driving in 1st and 2nd gear there is a gentle ticking noise coming from somewhere when my foot is gently touching the accelerator pedal. It doesn't do it on idle or other gears, also it only does it at low revs. The noise doesn't get faster either when I put my foot down.

At first I crapped my self as ticking noises are never a good sign but this does seem like a big problem I just wanna know if anyone else has had this issue before and knows how to sort it?

I've seen a post where they found gravel in the under trays but this doesn't sound like that at all and it's driving me nuts!!

Please can someone tell me how to fix it, I'll send you a chocolate bar of your choice.

  7. No the device is car specific, you have to send your VIN and mods list to the parent company and it will only recognise that vehicle, (hence why I am waiting for the exhaust setup to finish) sorry guys, yeah if it was that easy :)

Are you sure? Everything I've read and seen, there is no mention of it being car specific. As said above there are so many different mods with different variables it would be such a hard task to program each device. An interesting point to say the least but brings me to the question, why would they sell something when you can get a better option for an extra £25. Hmmmmmmmm

  8. I have one of these, but yet to install until the exhaust is finished, the parent company seem good to deal with though and it is car and mod specific. It will never be as accurate as a full on rolling road setup - ever, like an Uprev, but the reviews seem to be ok. I'm hoping :teeth: .

Ah you have to let me know how you get on, I get that a uprev is more engine specific just seems easy with this controller, bit of tricky one. Plus it seems you can use on more than one car.

  9. I've been searching round the inter-space for a while now looking all different mods I can do to my zed and I keep seeing this one pop up yet I don't know any other Zed drivers that have bought one and used it. I've read the reviews and they all say what an amazing bit of kit this is. I've been speaking to Tarmac (awesome dude) about it as he sells them:

Was just wondering if anyone on here has got one or knows more about them as they seem to good to be true? If no one knows I'll probably buy one and then let you all know ha ha.

  10. Just realised I know you from drift allstars, I built brad Mcqueens car with him. Looking at your thread this is gonna be awesome, I was tempted to set mine up for racing but I love it to much to mess it up.

Look forward to seeing this. :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

haha small world. I saw Brad not so long ago up at the nissan factory. You boys had done a nice job on his car :)

Cheers dude!! I'm really struggling not being out on track now!! :(

Yeah I was there to I was running the drift event for scotty. Cheers, he's now decided that we are completely stripping that car and starting from scratch so a whole new build over the winter. YAY not like I wanted to work on my own car ha ha I love it though.

Sure we'll see each other soon, I wanna see your 350 built!!

  11. Sorry, you must've taken my post the wrong way. I genuinely didn't realise they were common sizes for drifters, nor that drifters could get their sponsors to get the tyres made up for them. Apologies if it came out differently.

It definitely is that kind of forum though!:lol:

Ah no worries mate, I know most forums can be like that. Its hard to tell the way someone is saying something over text. I can only ask them if they can get them, it doesnt sound like they are a hard size but I'm sure if I cant get them I'll be sending you a PM to see what else will work ha ha, thats if you dont mind. :surrender:

  12. I didn't realise they were pro drifter-specific sizes, nor that pro drifters can get tyres made to their spec. Handy to know.

Dont think theres was a need to be like that really, I didn't think they are hard tires to get I was merely saying I have friends that may be able to get the tires you said we're hard to find. I don't like the whole keyboard warrior thing and I wasn't trying to show off who my friends are so it would be nice not to be belittled. Didn't think that this was that type of forum.

  13. I'd go with what Steve said, 245/40/18 F and 265/40/18 R, they're as close as you're likely to get but then that's assuming you can get tyres in those sizes: I don't know how common they'll be, if I'm honest.

Im lucky enough to have friends who are pro drifters that have tire sponsors so Im sure I'll be able to get them.
