  1. Honestly, it's like having a different car. Don't delay - get it done!!
  2. What an inspirational lad. “What would happen if the autism gene was eliminated from the gene pool? You would have a bunch of people standing around in a cave, chatting and socializing and not getting anything done.†― Temple Grandin
  3. Mwahahahaha! Taking over the world, one Zed at a time.
  4. I took my car in to the garage yesterday and asked them to look into the rear axle 'click' and to follow the instructions direct from this thread: http://www.350z-uk.c...try-this-first/ Less than one hour later, and only £43 worse off my car doesn't make a sound and I no longer feel the need to drive it off the nearest cliff. There aren't words for how grateful I am to have found this forum and now I can get on with enjoying my new toy - even with the windows down. Thank you and keep the invaluable wisdom coming! *in my excitement I've posted this in the wrong place... don't know how to move it to the 350Z general forum???
  5. Posts like this restore my faith in humanity and the great benefits a bit of 'community spirit' can bring to everyone. Good work Dean! I'll be in touch re: wrapping my ENTIRE car white shortly... I hope you didn't have any plans for the summer!!
  6. My current registration plate is LY55 EEZ and everywhere I go, people assume I'm called Lizzy!! With that in mind (and as I've just treated myself to a new plate) I wondered if any Lizzy's out there would be interested in it? Non-Lizzy's also welcome if it's relevant to you for some reason
  7. I think you may be right. You are absolutely right, the only way to disable the airbags is by pulling the fuse. In theory you can request that Nissan install a switch to allow airbag activation and deactivation, but in reality I have yet to find a dealership who will ACTUALLY do this. And yes, I've called them all... I have a 2.5yr old daughter who travels in the front seat of my car daily. I have read more about the pro's and con's of airbags vs. young children than I care to recall on here, but in summary, nobody has been able to prove (to me) that airbags are any more dangerous to a child in a forward facing car seat than not having any airbags would be. Note: the law regarding rear facing car seats in a car with airbags is clear... It is illegal because it is PROVEN to be fatal. This website may be useful: http://www.childcarseats.org.uk/law/index.htm#kids311 If you decide to carry a passenger under 12yrs old, you should take all reasonable precautions, such as: 1. buy a good quality car seat which fits your car correctly 2. ensure it is fitted to your passenger seat securely 3. ensure the passenger seat is positioned as far back in the cabin as it will possibly go 4. drive sensibly For the 350Z I can highly recommend the Recaro Young Sport which will last until your child is 12yrs: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_499753_langId_-1_categoryId_165554 My daughter is the centre of my universe and god forbid anything ever hurt her, but I think you have to retain some perspective when assessing the 'risks' or you probably wouldn't allow them in a car in the first place. And breathe...
  8. Thanks guys. Yes, in the absence of any hard recommendations we will just take a drive out and make the best of it. Leake Street in Lambeth looks fantastic although I don't know how easy it would be to get the lighting rigged up there without being moved along! The EH site at Silsoe also looks fantastic. Going to make some enquiries at airfields etc. to try and get some 'open space' shots too... Would love a derelict building shot, maybe Sheerness in Kent is worth a try... A very spooky place indeed.
  9. My partner has just been put forward as a stills photographer for a professional car shoot. For this job, he needs to provide some examples of work he's done in the past, and as he hasn't done any real car photography before, we need to quickly get out and take some snaps of the motor! Does anyone know any good locations (ideally in the South East of England) where we could go to take some pics? Looking for two distinct kinds of venue: ultra urban (think inner city / graffiti walls etc.) and very rural (think isolated Scottish landscape). If you've got any other ideas, even if they don't fit to these two categories, I'd love to hear them. I know I'm asking a lot, and people may not want to share these secret spots, but any help you could offer us would be MUCH appreciated as we are short on time. Thank you!
  10. Lucky you... Just a problem for us paupers then?? It's just kind of difficult to curl the dipstick into the hole and out again without smearing it all up the side, hence making any reading you think you've got, invalid. Thanks gsexr, I did exactly what you said and I 'think' the oil level is fine.
  11. For the first time since I bought the 350Z last week, I thought I'd check my oil levels. Now I know why it's called a 'dipstick'. Likely after the retard that invented it. Is that a comedy dipstick in my car, or is that bendy afterthought supposed to accurately reflect how much oil is in my engine??
  12. Mine's an old HU from my last car. Think they're up to the DNX8220 now... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kenwood-DNX-8220BT-CD-Receiver-Navigation-Bluetooth/dp/B0018BL1KI
  13. Thanks Bullet, but beware - once you've got a half decent sub behind your seat you might wish you had the crappy Bose sub back again! Or a boot rebuild to put the f**ker somewhere else. Cranked it up earlier and nearly blew myself clean through the windscreen... Maybe I've just got the frequency far too low??
  14. I removed the Bose amp as it's designed to power their own 0.5 ohm speakers and the Alpine's are 4 ohm. Luckily the head unit has got an amp built in (four channel x 50W max power) which is now running the front and rear speakers. For the time being I've left it at that, mainly 'cause I couldn't justify another £500+ for the five channel amp I wanted! Personally, it's fine for me although I think a bigger amp would make a noticeable difference. Still need to play with the levels of everything to get it spot on. Guess it depends whether you want to blow the windows out or just listen to your favourite tunes with decent clarity.
  15. Yes Pete, it's all wired up. Have unfortunately lost the phone function on the wheel but from research it doesn't look possible to keep that function alive with an aftermarket head unit? Someone correct me if I'm wrong...
  16. I got this one: http://www.soundevo.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=5769 Not the cheapest, but the clarity is amazing and supposedly guaranteed not to mist up when it's cold. I've already got parking sensors so TBH I only really put it in because I can, and the dash was out anyway...
  17. Ok, so it's no Vortech Supercharger, but after only 11 days of ownership it is my first mod to Zed and I'm buggered if I'm going to keep it to myself Have ripped out ALL the old Bose audio and replaced it with a double-din Kenwood dnx7200 head unit, and Alpine speakers throughout (inc. steering wheel adapter). Connected up a reverse parking camera (to justify all the expense) and got myself a stubby aerial, thanks to Steve at Redline She sounds fantastic and is starting to feel like MY car now... Ooooh look, I can see my own rear bumper from the drivers seat! Novelty not worn off yet...
  18. Maybe it was the person he parked next to who was parked badly. Then the other f*cker left first... Hate it when that happens.
  19. OMG, what a great website! Was starting to feel dizzy with wheel diameter/width/offset etc. Here Volks, come to Mummy...
  20. Welcome I'm about 6 mins drive from you... in Horley!
  21. Great link StevoD. Maybe some Volks aren't out of the question after all! Think I'll hold out for now...
  22. You can, but only if you put it in a golf bag first.
  23. Thanks guys, appreciate your advice. Would I be eligible to apply man maths to solve this problem?! Statement: Partner rarely sees Zed outside the garage. He doesn't care for wheels. Question: Would he even notice they were different? Answer: Not if I hid the 4 x Rays!
