  1. I used Formula 1 and haggled a bit and they would fit parts you provide too but they try and advise against this because of there is a problem you would be liable for labour charges to remove parts for you to pursue complaint against provider. I did insist on Exedy parts though and they sourced them, perhaps a little dearer than the cheapest places I found for these parts but I consider this okay as in effect it's like an insurance should they fail because they will then foot the removal bill.

Nissan were also very helpful by me and offered to fit anything I provided but labour would have been £320 + VAT (4 hours)

  2. Sounds like my symptoms, over revving then biting.

Would suggest its a two person job due to weight of gearbox. 5-6 hours works as well especially if you have not done one before. I wanted to do my own but changed my mind. Yes it cost me a thousand pounds but £750 of that was clutch and flywheel, labour quite insignificant compared to parts.

  3. As also mentioned earlier by someone (not trawling through to identify you) that the fines needs to be bigger for mobile phone use - I agree completely. How difficult is it to get yourself a handsfree or even pull over and ring them back? How often is that call really that important? Harsher penalties for mobile phone use!!!

  4. Well, gt the clutch done today and found out she needed a new flywheel too. I was gutted I had to find £600 for clutch after only having the car a few weeks but then then with the flywheel it has cost me £1000

I'm convinced the seller knew the clutch was going when he sold me the car but 'buyer beware' as the law states probably means I don't have a leg to stand on so to speak. I have kept the old parts just in case I can take legal action.

I just don't feel that in the hundred or so miles of me driving it has resulted in the clutch going and the flywheel.

On the plus side I'm hoping for 30,000 to 40,000 miles out of her without much more than servicing costs - fingers crossed...

The clutch pedal now bites quite low down and is nowhere near as heavy as before.

It was nice to drive her again :)
