  1. No probs sharing it, there's lots of single lap videos so overlaid some and just uploading a few random laps.
  2. This car had no traction control at all, he said he was going out for one last lap !!!!!!
  3. Home sweet home, after a total of 300 miles of driving 130 on track. The z has performed amazing without fault. It has been a very interesting day driving from the dry to wet to very very wet. Track driving the zed is way different to driving the mx5 you have to give it way more respect. Leaving the traction control on most of the day was a very sensible move even though I did have a short go with it off. Unfortunately there were a few car casualties but no injuries, a Westfield spun off into a barrier with front end, a 924 had a rear end somehow and there was a really unlucky spin into the wall along the paddock straight from a tvr t350, very lucky escape and really felt for the driver of this stunning car who walked away unhurt. There was also another azure zed there, did not get a chance to talk to them as they had left early, looked well modded and I wouldn't be surprised if it was a forum member? It was great meeting a whole load if different people with very different setups. It's not easy that's for sure, the concentration is immense and after a short time you can forget which bend your comming upto or what speed your doing into it, then on and off the power all the time you really can get easily confused especially at the end of a fast straight you break a little late and pray the car will stay on, the penny drops as well as your heart when you see the crash barrier is not far beyond. Another thing I found was my head was feeling really hot is this normal lol, thought it was from my brain working overtime. Would like someone to recomend a good roll bar setup that would fit in the zed without removing the interior. Brakes did well with no warp fade or boil. Followed all the advice given checking the cars vital signs, pressures, fluids etc, just wondering how important it is to service the car, the belts need doing at the very least so may do an oil change at the same time. Thx to all !!!! Will post some footage here later,,, if I think it's worth it..
  4. Ok thank you for the heads up, there was no mention of using these devices, "harrys la timer" Are you saying turn the ESP OFF? which is traction control? Did turn off for a bit but a little nervy of spinning it's now heavy rain and if it doesn't lighten up going to call it a day.
  5. Ok guys, well so far the car has been faultless, car has handled really well apart from entering a couple of hairpins too fast thank goodness for the esp !!!! Managed to get the first 4 - 5 laps in the dry which all changed pretty quickly as the heavens opened up. There's been a Westfield and Porsche spinning off and unfortunately they hit the barriers quite hard. The car does help a lot in the rain when things are getting quick and you overstep the mark. The lap timer app seems to be working well.
  6. Test drove the gt86 recently for my other half and was not impressed with it at all, has a cheap interior feel and finish to the whole car. As others mentioned get a track preped mx5 like I did, it's a great fun drive on or off track however I'm tracking my 350z for the first time tomorrow at snetterton, hope it gives me the same fun as the 5 has.
  7. Ok, looks like a mixed bag of rainy weather tomorrow so leaving the road tyres on. Done all the checks I can think of and everything on the car seems fine. Will hopefully get some video footage using harrys laptimer app, just fixed an iphone holder to the rear screen. Will update after the event !!!!
  8. Clutch combo sounds good Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Is anyone going to this? I have booked the day, I also fancy taking my mx5 track car and thought I would see if there is anyone who is free that day and perhaps may want to drive the 5 up there, obviously you would need insurance,,, I'm thinking it would be nice to track the zed for half a day and mx5 the other half.if I can get a decent driver then they can probably get to drive it on track at some point during the daybreak would be a second driver charge. 10. I'll get a set, but ProbAbly take me too long changing pads on the day as I have not done a z before. Is anyone going next week,,,,, hint.... Hint
  11. Thanks for the info regarding the checkpoints etc, I have bought a set of used toyo r888 tyres on standard 350z wheels 3mm left on them, I have ebach spacers 20mm front, 24mm backs, oem pads as far as I'm aware but not 100%, plenty left on them. May not be fitting the cobra back box now as it may not come my way. Perhaps I should use the road tyres first time out as Ekona mentions brake heat could be stretched for oem setup. 12. Will the non resonated two peice system pass snettertons Db level Static 105 Drive by 95db As you sat on web 90 db Is that very accurate?
  13. Cool I won't change it then !!! Like you say sensible and keep an eye on the car, what about changing tyres to that used track set for sale on here. DO NOT CHANGE THE COOLANT!!! Seriously, it'll be absolutely fine. LOL, I was reading water is 50 % more thermal conductive than coolant, I guess as I'm not actually racing it will be fine
  14. I have been to snetterton in my mx5 mk1 track car, loved every second of it and had no problems even after thrashing the hell out off it all day.don't want to blow the z engine if I can help it, so will be doing small 10-15 min runs and checking all the vital signs in the pits, At least I now know how to test the clutch " thx Ekona" probably going to leave it stock for the first track day, may flush the brake fluid which someone has recommended, I also read somewhere using water rather than coolant in the rad for the day will be better for keeping temperature down and switch it back after to coolant for the anti corrosives etc?Going off to see what db the cobra exhaust will make. Anyone else going to snetterton mon 6th October Thx for the advice Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. My zed is an 04 with a pop charger and spacers, I want to take it on track at snetterton in two weeks. My idea is to get the braided brake lines fitted and put some better pads that are going to give me better braking on the day but keep the standard discs for now? Also I'm not sure of the clutch condition, it does drive ok but today I tested it out by pulling away in third with revs which it did and could not feel slipping, however I did notice the clutch burning smell, so let it settle for 30 min took it out again and tried a 1st gear wheelspin which it done with no problem, the clutch bites at the top of pedal like most Zeds . The Last thing I want is the clutch to go on track but then it could go anywhere I suppose. Could anyone recomend what other precautions to take for a track day like should I change the oil which was done 4,000 miles ago, as well should I upgrade the brake fluid? Just want a good hard driving day with no big hiccups on track, may also be getting some track tyres to take. One other important factor, I'm getting mouthwashes cobra back box and I'm worried it may exceed the 105 db noise limit or 92db drive by? Does anyone know what they put out noise wise (non resonated) Any advice on other things that I should check beforehand would be appreciated.
  16. Looking for a decent new/used set for track /road use at a reasonable price.
  17. As I'm on a budget to get my zed on track I'll take them for £160 posted? You did say you want rid? Let me know as there is another set I'm looking at.
  18. So you went for it in the end. How does it feel compared to the 350, are you pleased with the driving differences. Congrats
  19. Just read this thread after going to see a "repaired"cat d 370z near me for £7999 it's on eBay, OMG what a state the poor car was in, seller was a genuine guy so was not trying to pull the wool. I prefer buying category cars with the damage, direct from the salvage yard this way you can see what's actually wrong with it. I have had several Zeds all cat d or c all apart one with engine problems was a good car once repaired properly, as long as you don't mind selling it at a lower price when you've had your fun. Always best to check over the car first as some salvage yards are dodgy.. The one on eBay now has had the whole side resprayed so badly as well as it has had a rear end which had buckled the rear chassis leg, they has wrapped sound deadening pads around it to disguise the damage.also had electrical issues and a wheel bearing noise, the fault code reader is always good to have as well, this car came up with zero faults. I could have bought the car for less than 7999 but still walked away.
  20. Yes it works on 350z I have read codes and reset them with no problem.
