  1. I am going to stick my next out here and say the Torqens will be a rebranded something (bc or similar etc), so unless they are any cheaper, they are pretty much the same option.

Is it the height adjustment that you want or something that will perform well on track/fast road etc

Precisely my thoughts; I have also read that eibachs pro streets are rebranded KW's?

Well I currently run quite an aggressive drop, but would happily lift it in order to achieve drivability.

  2. Imho only the monosporta will give a good fast road setup put of those listed.

Bc and torquen are very much 'budget'coilovers, ie @*!#.

Kw v3 are a track orientated coilover. Theyre very good, dont geg me wrong but theyre designed for track.

The monosports have a dual flow valve which only tein and ohlins offer, tbis allows a firm dampening rate but if you hit a big bump the dual flow valve ipens amd softens the suspension thus absorbing the bump better.

Ive got monosports and was really impressed with them and ive had experience of a range of coilover brands

That's a great bit of info Ben. How do the monosports hold up? Did you treat them?

  3. All the above have good reputations from what I have read, what about adding MeisterR to your list they are traders on here.

I had BC Racing coilovers on my Skyline and performed admirably well.

Zeta-S? I did come across a potential group buy, although the boat may have sailed on that one.

  4. I have kW v3 there perfect

Yes in an ideal world I would go for the KW's but they are almost twice my budget. I am happy to save but would I use them to their full capabilities.

The demon-tweeks finance option is very appealing

  5. Hi Guys,

First of all I would like to apologise for asking the age old question of coilovers; what to buy as there is too much choice.

    I do actually have a set on the car but feel that these are most definitely cheap (they came with the car). I have the following installed already;

    - Eibach front and rear ARB's with bushes.

    - Adjustable camber arms front and rear.

    - Whiteline adjustable droplinks front and rear.

So the next move is to find confidence in the coilover.

The Zed is never tracked and I doubt it will be, although at times it is driven hard (within reason). So I would categorise the use as 'fast road'. My budget has always been circa £800 which I believe puts me bang in the middle of the upper/lower threshold when it comes to products. I would rather save for a little longer in order to buy the right kit and have shortlisted the following in accordance to price/desire. Could somebody with experience point me in the right direction; I have no idea what technical information I should comparing or what to expect from each.

    - KW V3

    - Tein Mono Sport

    - Eibach Pro Street S

    - BC Racing BR

    - Torquen S

    Thanks in anticipation.

  6. Hi Guys,

My parents have bought back the e34 M5 they used to own circa 15 years ago. Randomly noticed it on eBay a few months back and went to get it from the chap they sold it too. Such a nostalgic car, worshiped the thing growing up and still do!!

Anyway being a fan of M5's we have a private plate that reads M5 AAA for arguments sake. Given that the vehicle is 1991 I presume that the M5 AAA plate cannot be asigned? Or am I misinformed given that it isn't your standard 6 or 7 figure arrangement?

All would be ok if the car was 1995 or newer?

    Thanks

  7. Think its time for an update. New wheels came in March. There zedd performance Sl5's 18x9.5 front and 18x10.5 rear

After fitting I decided to fit spacers to the rear

Then not a lot really happened for a few months apart from a service.

Took the car to japfest2 for its first show, it was on the shadow sportz stand. Some photos taken by other people.

Also got snapped at a car meet in Notts

So currently I'm making some changes for 2016. First was a different bumper. Went back to the standard front with a splitter. Swapped it for the amuse bumper I had defore. Good to meet a member off here and do a nice simple swap! Nice to meet you gumpy000

Tried out a home flocking kit on the rear brace cover. It looks much better than standard but not perfect. Will probs get this done professionally at some point.

    image_19.jpeg

I retrimmed the roof liner in black suede too but I don't have a photo. Next big change will be this weekend when the car goes to the guys at plush automotive

Lovely wheels; totally transforms the car! Are they a they a true three piece?

Out of interest, how do Zedd Performance compare to other wheel manufactures with regards to price, quality and longevity? Would one compare them to Rota/Varrstoen or are we looking at Work/SSR etc?

  8. Because of the AGE and most importantly they are JDM not uk vehicles. Price pro rata.

Interesting! Knew JDM's were a bit cheaper but wasn't aware that it was that much of a significance.

I don't know why JDM's get so much stick. Many of us upgrade them anyway. I love mine and its in far better condition than many UK's I've seen over the few years of ownership. I also wonder if the price between UK's and JDM's will ever flip? One may suggest that in the future they could become more desirable as they are early/original...

Glad you stuck to your guns

  9. So how long should Russia be banned for then?

A year? Two? Five? Ten? Needs to be a big one IMHO, but what's reasonable? How hard do you punish athletes who have done nothing wrong?

The athletes should be banned for life as users can reap the benefits for as much as ten years later. The drugs boost cell numbers within muscle fibres and through muscle memory the body can redevelop at a greater rate.
