True Josh… before they would start high 20s and move to low 40s *pre charger*. I'd say this was 10-20 degrees above ambient.
Now it's 4-6 degrees above ambient. Quite the drop!

Well a spirited drive home and not once did the intake temps go above 19 degrees, oil at 95 degrees. No knocking, no dodgy noises (except the end links).
I think I made a good choice so far… more data as I keep driving.

I spoke with Jez earlier today when I collected the car about moving things forward with the charge temp monitoring. It is presently not possible with UpRev as the intake temp and coolant temp tables appear to be one and the same. (Or at least, they are on Josh's car).
I asked about EcuTek, with a "I'm reluctant, 'cos I don't want to go through a full re-tune and licence' but it is something I will consider if UpRev aren't going to be able to manage this. We'll see what the costs are :-S. Eek.
For now, the tune is slackened off a bit around the low rpm area where there was occasional trouble, and the oil cooler is in a box, cleaned and ready to go.

Dodgy knock off oil cooler I reckon
Haha Adam! The oil cooler is excellent, just not where it was fitted on my car where it was excellent as an intake and HX warmer!

Yep, I agree but there wasn't a problem before. Anyway, nothing is 100% certain with modifications — I'll do what I always do, change something and monitor the outcome! Can't wait to get back in the car!

I took Reggie to H-dev where Jez and the team would look at how to move the various coolers about to make room for either a bigger HX for the charge cooler, or something else. Anyway, there's not a lot of room up front without messing about so I've decided to whip the oil cooler out and see what happens.
My rationale is simple. I never had any oil temperature issues with or without the supercharger. When I added it, the oil radiator runs hot all the time (100C or so) and right next to the air intakes and in front of the stillen charge cooler radiator. The way it was installed caused the engine to ingest hot air (before the supercharger), and warm up the charge cooler (so it was less effective). All bad.
My car is late enough that it has the oil/coolant exchanger from factory anyway, which explains why it never had any issues with oil temps.
Work done:
- Oil cooler off (will be sold).
- Fit replacement 7-rib idler.
- New oil filter (the old one was crushed a bit in removal).
- Changed both headlights as one failed (upgraded to Philips D2S 4800K X-treme Vision Bulb, should be a bit brighter than OEM).
- Check the tune, engine and mechanicals health.
- Adjust the exhaust position as it has moved a bit.
Stuff I will sell (to be listed later):
- Mishimoto oil cooler, thermostatic sandwich plate, lines etc. (4000 miles use).
- Frozen boost air-to-water HX type 101. (Never fitted).
Jez' photo showing state prior to changes:
- Oil cooler off (will be sold).

I drive about in mine round Farnham, Odiham etc. most days. Pic in my profile.

I wonder where...
I don't know why, but I kind of think of you as "Mr. Big Stuff", you know, Exhausts, Turbo kits etc. Anyway, I'll PM you

Hello everyone,
I am a bit stuck, so I'm asking for a bit of help!
HID blown — which one to buy and how to fit?
I've had a good search about but cannot find a thread on this. The nearside HID light has failed on my car, and I'd like to find a guide on what type to buy to replace it, and how to replace it.
7-rib idler — where to buy?
One of the bearings has failed on an idler for the supercharger. It is one that was moved to the supercharger mounting plate from elsewhere on the engine as part of the new belt path. Does anyone know of a decent supplier of pulleys for this kind of application? Preferably in the UK as I've paid quite enough in import duties lately!
Update: Photos and a quick vid. of the idler on my dropbox
Mucho thanks,
Dominic

Oh dear. One of the headlights has failed.
Is there a DIY on swapping out a HID?

Just realised I've done 13000 miles in my z in a year is not even a daily
Need to slow down a bit lol
Screw that! These are made for driving, not posing! Get out in it!!

We got an xbox for our daughter to play Minecraft. I just found Forza, and that you can not only race a 370z, but you can colour and customise it too. I remember when I used to be a geek…
Oh, wait.

The Uprev will allow you to re-configure the IAT sensor but wont all you to re-tune the fuel/ignition cal files until Uprev sort this out. ( I have heard they are trying to sort this at the moment)
It wont make the car run full time closed loop but will help with trimming the cal for IAT.
Ecutek have done all this already on the 370Z software.
As soon as they have sorted it, I'm first in the queue for it! cheers for the info Mark.
Behind me you mean
Race you! :-P

Yes I think the 370z stillen front bumper is pretty ugly also
I have a spare stillen cooler if you need it ......
Actually Nic has it at the moment but could easily be sent to you if needed
I would prefere aggressive/functional as in designed to get the airflow in there and certainly different... I like to be different
And I'm glad we each do as we please. Life would be dull with identical cars—these are an extension of our personalities and preferences and long may it continue!

Darren, that's spot on! Jez mentioned doing something like this for my car exactly as per Josh's. I think I shall see how deep that rabbit hole goes when I speak with him on the 3rd.

…I don't think moving the cooler will help a lot as far as the charge temps go after running with and without the shroud it didn't make a scrap of difference…
I don't mean the shroud, I actually mean fabricating a divider to partition the airflow into a clean, cold air side for the intake, and a radiators side for the oil, intercooler, power steering etc. I understand that the shroud you mention to address turbulence around the MAFs.

I personally wouldn't wan to run 2 rads , when a good one should do to job ....... Mayb get the oil cooler moved as you say and see how that affects it all
Agreed Josh — Jez said he has a contact that can fab them to order. We'll move the coolers about, free up some space, measure up and get something in that keeps the clean look of the car (whilst actually taking some heat out of the system).
Nic — I hever had much in the way of problems with heat before I had the oil cooler. Before, if it was a baking hot day and I was sitting in traffic then it would ping a little at light load but as soon as I moved off this would clear, so the cooling was working fine. That oil rad is just McD's apple pie hot.

D'oh. The pulley in question is a 7-rib idler which is from the motor, it is moved to this new position during the installation of the supercharger. Perhaps it doesn't like the heat up there. I wonder where to order an idler from?
The supercharger installation instructions show on page 12, step 9: "Remove the 7rib idler in photo 17.Keep it as it will be installed onto the supercharger assembly later."Then on page 18, step 11: "Install the 7 rib idler removed earlier onto the blower plate using the supplied spacer and hardware. Reinstall the lower idler. (photo 38)" -
Oh I miss my zed !!! Did you manage to look at johns car with regards to the frozen boost ?
I did indeed. That Stillen fascia is quite vicious, and not really to my taste though. Prefer my sort of sleeper look.
Reggie is fine at the moment since the ECU reset, probably went into a safe map after detecting some knock in the hot weather. Booked in for Aug 3rd to move the oil cooler, and either install a second stillen cooler in serial or go bespoke and fabricate a cooler that *will* fit in the space available. Also to divide off the airflow from the oil cooler and the intakes. It looks like the pulley is shagged, so will see about a replacement under warranty or order one direct from SCOL.

I'm looking into the frozenboost. Going to see Nic's install, hopefully a peek at the White 370 at Horsham tomorrow and see if I can get a really solid fit. That's a heavy item and I'm not having it mounted with any play or vibration, as aluminium will fatigue and fail if there's wobble...

Haven't got oil over 95 yet. The oil pan spacer seems to help.
