  1. Mine is a Jack Royal wheel at +4mm over standard. At first it felt a bit chunky BUT it is absolutely ideal!

Since pic was taken have had the silver trims wrapped in satin black.

  2. There is one for sale second hand but unused OEM in the for sale section. Just buy the other from Clark Motorsport. This was my intention, although I believe that I have now solved the knocking noise (Crapspeed endlinks)

I agree - buy the totally UNUSED, still unopened in Nissan wrapping (NOT 2nd hand!) one that is advertised in the For Sale section... ooops... that's my ad isnt it? - :teeth:

  3. I'll aim to polish no more than twice a year. I'm actually even trying to cut that down to once during the summer prep and using a filler glaze any other time. But if it doesn't need it, it's not worth the effort let alone the paint depth conundrum.

I only do mine once a year - is harder work as you get older...!

  4. Thanks Mr ilogikal1 once again for your help, and I'll take your advice. No I haven't read the guide above Ive been reading lots of bits nd pieces about which pad does what, what the provided polishes do and polishing techniques (all of which have variations in how to approach the job).

Unfortunately the link doesn't seem to work on my iPad. If you wouldn't mind having another go I'd appreciate it.

One more question if you don't mind....having been over the car with say PF2400 (203s) are you supposed to then wax the car (to give it some protection)with the 85RE or do you use ordinary wax polish. I've seen a YouTube vid showing the guy spraying on what appeared to be a wax finish coat then polishing it with a microfibre cloth?

I never used wax on mine - preferring simply to use Autofinesse Tough Coat sealant as final layer. Lately I've gone over to using Fusso Soft 99 which is easy to apply, gives a lovely finish and seems pretty durable.

As in all things to do with detailing we all have our individual preferences so my way is only ONE way not the ONLY way!

  5. You should still get a good quality finish on your GM - here is a picture of mine after I used my DAS6 on it.

I use Lake Country pads and Menzerna polishing compound and do pretty much what you describe. I initially spritz the pad with a mist of water, three large(ish) pea size drops of compound. Maybe you aren't using enough pressure or aren't polishing long enough?

You wont do a bonnet on one pass though - I'd probably have mentally sectioned mine into at least 6 sections with fresh compound applied on each section and polish until you end up with an overall almost oily haze. Then a light buff off with microfibre and glaze/seal on top.

  6. Gentlemen and Ladies, I still have a compression arm and bluetooth cradle available.

A genuine Nissan compression (banana) arm. As you can see this is still in the original Nissan wrapping - I think (!) it is passenger side! Yours for a heart stopping give-away price of only £200 + p&p

A standard Bluetooth adaptor HOLDER - the one that sits inside the rear console box. £10 +p&p

  7. Hi cant decide which lip looks best from tarmac, either a Gt or a nismo style, i have a midnight blue hr, if anyone has any pics of theirs id appreciate seeing them. I looked on tarmacs website but i need more pictures to decide.

Probably doesn't help but my Mines copy lip is not a good fit so am replacing it with GT style on the basis a) I like the upwards "swoop" in the middle and B) the sides look a little less severe than the NISMO unit.

Probably visit TQM in Fleet to have fitted/bonded/glued/nailed/hammered on, or whatever process is needed...! I just know getting the Mines copy off is going to be a PITA tho!

  8. Feels great to me, far shorter throw (apx 40%) and it's only slotting into reverse which has a little resistance (literally 1-2mm need filing off). I'll post up a few pics on the weekend.

I prefer it over the OEM throw for sure. (I've kept it as a -just-in-case item though)

If timing works out, I'm often in Farnham/Guildford so you're welcome to 'cop a feel' ;)

Wilkl take you up on that sometime - live in Redhill so not too far away. Cheers.

  9. I have fitted the pre-facelift (sliding door version) to my '06 facelift console and it took only some minor adjustment around the back of the unit to fit.

The door shape at the top is very VERY slightly different so when I close it there is a slighty larger gap between the top of the door and the console. Us Zed geeks might spot the mm gap increase but the casual oserver probably wouldn't. Oh and there was a colour shade difference but a quick going over with satin black soon erradicated that.

  10. really am thinking to try this as an option, anyone know of a trusted/forum garage that would do this ?

Abbey Motorsport replaced the seals on both my rocker covers over a year ago. I assume the kit they use will be pretty similar to this one.

All clean and oil free ever since so if done properly it does work and massively cheaper than replacement RCs.

    David

Thanks for the reply mate. Sounds good that it worked out. Can you remember how much it cost you to replace the seals on the rockers so I know what price labour etc to look out for? :)

Was 3.5 hr labour (£227) plus about 25 for seals and RC gaskets. (exc VAT)
