  1. After looking for ages to find suitable carbon fibre mirror covers for my car I finally bit the bullet with the help of a good mate of mine who deals with the stuff as a living, working on pieces for McLaren etc.

I looked at many companies but none seem to have a decent review and none really fitted to well (from what I read)

After both my mate and I looked for a solution, we first thought about doing the whole cap piece in carbon fibre but the main problem was to get the fitting just right so it looked and fitted perfect.

He then said would I mind the original cap being wrapped but rather than the standard vinyl wrap which in my opinion doesn't do carbon fibre justice how about using proper carbon fibre instead, this way we can still use the original clips for the mirror.

This is the process we did, unfortunately I am not able to show the full process but hope you can get an idea.

    Mirrors Before

The first task was to remove the glass using a small flat head screwdriver on the bottom of the mirror is simply just popped off.

Due to the wires being very fragile I decided to keep them attached to the glass.

I then had the careful task of removing the

    Cap removed with no damage

The caps were then wrapped in carbon fibre and curd at 80 degrees, ones cured they were sanded and made smooth, as you can probably see the carbon is not a simple up / down weave but flows nicely into the corners.

Once complete a test fit was done and minor adjustments were done and fitted nicely.

The final stage was to lacquer them. After 4 coats of lacquer they were totally smooth and looking great. :)

The pictures dont really do them justice but I love them, kinda cool to think the carbon fibre used for them is what they use for the McLaren cars :)

  2.

You can tell almost immediately that it's a David Nuttall. His use of vibrant colour to portray a sense of movement is unmistakable.

    He's also signed it! :p

    Happy Birthday Stu, great present!

Yes it's David Nuttall, do you know him? My other half is friends with him :-)

  3. Its my birthday today and this is what the other half got me I am stunned by the detail in it, a hand painted picture of my actual car :)

Even got my LED headlights and smoothed bumpers

Luckly I was able to get it on my scanner and scan a copy :)

  5. we have got SFS performance just down the road and I know the owner quite well so ill prob go to them to be hones :)

Will you be putting some glass hoses on again stu?

who knows mate its a possibility if i can find a decent pipe/s to do :)

  6. because if it was going to be yellow it would have to match the same colour as my car or it will look wrong and unfortuantly im a bit of a perfectionist, at least if i go a completly different colour its not going to annoy me lol

  7. Hi all

as most of you know I have got a 370Z yellow and I am looking at changing the hoses under the bonnet but dont know what colour to go for, dont want to go for blue or red as I think it might look a bit like lego and clash with the colour lol.

was looking at some white hoses, dark green or even camo effect?
