Can any one give me some advice on stone chips that have gone to metal, rust spot?
By no means an official answer, but on my old 350z, I had a rusty stone chip on the roof line at the windscreen. I got some Krust from Halfords, put that on as directed then painted over the top with a P4U touchup kit. Couldn't see it was there afterwards and it never came back or bubbled from underneath
That's my plan too, get some Krust and use that first as i have a few chips which have developed rust.
My kit arrived today, and looks good so far, including the paint which has a Nissan label with the code which is reassuring
Only the weather which is stopping me

I will certainly let you know how it goes with before and after pics.
Luckily Gun Metal doesn't show up as much, i have a few chips/scratches which show up grey anyway. My previous black cars had horrible white marks within the chips especially the bonnet.

Hi all
Recently ordered the below for my Gun metal Zed, thought it may help people who are looking for such a kit.
Have heard good reviews on here and postage is free

Pulled directly from the official Nissan Service Manual. So if it does not work for you, then there may be a problem with your airbag system and it should be checked out.
1. Turn ignition switch from OFF to ON.
2. Air Bag warning lamp is on for 7 seconds and turns off, the turn ignition switch OFF within 1 second after the lamp turn off.
3. After ignition switch is turned OFF, wait for more than 3 seconds.
4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 two more times. (Perform 3 times in total.)
5. Turn Ignition switch ON.
6. The SRS lamp has been reset.
Is this the general reset guide
Cheers

Thanks guys
Seems common then, can you advise on the reset bit please
It doesn't help that the light gives no indication of what's actually wrong, like when the door sensor light was flashing and spent ages shutting the doors, until i realised it was the boot that was not closed properly

Hi all
When i purchased my Zed, the Airbag light was flashing, i had my local garage perform a diagnostic check and they managed to stop the light flashing.
Below is the notes from the technician following the work.
"Carried out diagnostic checks into the air bag found fault code for O/S/F Side air bag (error not present) carried out wiggle test to harness, still not fault shown, refitted multi plug back to seat, cleared codes, the light is now off, customer to monitor."
I had the work done in December last year, so its about three months with the light not flashing.
Any advice on a way forward, does the notes above sound like it was just a case of refitting the plug, i had a quick look/feel under the front seat for cables and it didn't seem like i would be able to refit any plugs easily without lifting the seat slightly.
can someone explain the error not present part, and does clearing the code stop the light flashing,
Thanks all

Would the Plastidip spray version be suitable for touching up a scrape on the front bumper, caused i think by going down a kerb from the drive.
Was thinking of a touch up pen kit as they normally have some filler included. the scrape is about an inch.
i want to remove the front bumper anyway, and might be easier to paint when off car and inside

I buy this, as you get 200g, you can cut into about 6 slices. so it will last.
This is there proper website, but you have to pay postage i believe
http://www.bilthamber.com/clay-bars
Designed to be used with water as lube, but i sometimes use a bit of dodo juice lube
As Wasso pointed out, lightly glide the clay across the paint, you will feel when its hitting grime, and you will feel when its been removed as well.
If the paint feels really rough along the bottom of doors and wings, i normally use something like TRIX which is Iron X and Tar X combo for removing Iron deposits and Tar. I use on wheels too.
Smelly stuff though and needs rinsing off well

Hi all
All well so far with trips out today, Clutch sensor/connections seems the way forward on investigations
Some googling suggests clutch sensor adjustment/replacement may fix if this is the problem
-
try your spare key and see if you still get the issue.
I never got one with the car unfortunately, was the first thing i asked when i bought it
Thanks

Hi Guys
Thanks everyone for the quick replies very late last night. I tried the car and nothing so left it parked overnight as i was at my Girlfriends so no major panic.
Started this morning no problems as if there was never a problem, so seems battery is fine?, got home turned off, turned on fine, went to work for a few hours, came back all fine.
no slow cranking or anything like that
I'm wondering about the immobiliser as someone already pointed out, or is the security system kicking in and stopping me starting.
I will just have to see, and just one of those things.
What i did do last night was get out lock car, walk round unlock and open passenger door, lock unlock then tried and it worked?
Anyway on a plus side the woman cashier in the petrol station said is that your beautiful sports car as i paid, before then being stuck there ten minutes
My first compliment.
Thanks again, and ill keep you posted

I drove last night just after the snow was settling, it was awful

We have the one glrnet pointed out from dynamicsounds but we didn't buy it there. Also we have this:

All will do the job but what you'll find is that out of so many you'll only end up using 1 or 2 tools to do most of the jobs you need.
My favourite one is the first 2 in the ebay link. Never really needed the rest.
I wouldn't use a metal tool as it tends to be too hard and will scratch or dent certain panels.
You don't need to spend a lot of money TBH.
Thanks for replies everyone.
That kit looks fine

Morning all
Can anyone recommend a set of trim removal tools, specifically containing one for removing the plastic fasteners on the front bumper,
Any i can buy off the shelf would be a bonus too, although links to on-line purchases would be good also
Random search found the link below
http://www.griotsgar... with hammer.do
the Little hammer is quite cool
Thanks

It would be nice if these controls were illuminated, had a call come through last night and was fumbling around on the controls trying to answer and ended up cutting them off, Was only the girlfriend though
I'm sure i will get used to the controls soon enough, my last Saab was quite overkill on illumination but good at the same time.

You may have a leaky washer bottle.
Oh, assumed it was just the recent wet weather
, ok then i will investigate that
Thankyou

Hi
I have noticed a few times when looking under the bonnet a small puddle of water sitting at the bottom of the front bumper
Does anyone have this problem, are there drainage holes there, does it need a few more drilled
Its an 04 plate
Thankyou

Hi Guys
As above my passenger mirror does tilt but gets somewhat stuck part way down.
Any ideas whether i can fix this, has the glass become misaligned or knocked.
thanks for any help.
Edit: Are the mirrors supposed to tilt automatically when in reverse, just wondered as mine don't.

I started with just a HU, then replaced all 4 speakers, then added an amp and them added a sub/amp
Thanks Dave
So no problem with the speaker ohm's, and as long as the HU has pre-outs then good to go.
CAD seems the place to get the wiring harness and cage etc.
Thanks

Hi Guys
I am quite interested to know what other members have done to there Zed's in the way of audio changes.
In particular whether its been a full install of a new HU, amps, speakers and wiring, or a partial install of maybe just the HU.
is a partial install possible? ive read that everything would need to be replaced due to different ohm's of the speakers.maybe there's other factors.
Ive read the threads on kit needed for adding an aftermarket head unit which is a great help, but any links to threads involving the installation with pics etc would be excellent.
Before buying the Zed i read a few posts saying how the Bose wasn't all that, well after coming from a really really bad audio setup in my previous car it sounds very good to me.
But i can see or rather hear that it lacks something,
My plan would be to first change HU, the front components, and deaden the doors. Change the original sub maybe for something better.
I have some 6.5 components i would like to use, would these fit the front doors? does someone have a diagram of the Bose setup please with speaker sizes etc
Many thanks for any help

Sounds like a grounding kit to me, after fit
Thanks
Ive heard of people doing TB3 or The Big Three when it comes to car Audio, i don't believe any audio upgrade has been done in the car, although it could of been taken out.
Does the Zed have known grounding problems.
What super does everyone use?
