  1. Hi all, Is placing the car in 1st or reverse gear (depending on the direction of the slope) when parked supposed to stop the car from rolling? It doesn't with mine - at all! Not even on a gentle slope. Would this indicate some kind of a problem? I've not noticed any problems with the clutch or gears through normal driving.
  2. Hi all, Any ideas what the circled part is and what it does? The mechanic at my last MOT said that he thought it was part of the traction control system but it would be nice to confirm it. Thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks a lot guys. Bleed screws now ordered without the need of a bank loan.
  4. That sounds a bit more like it. Think I might get two as I'm feeling flush now. PM on it's way Alex.
  5. Hi all, I wanted to change my brake fluid at the weekend but found one of the bleed screws was rounded. Before I tried to free it I thought I would order a replacement from Nissan so I phoned them up this morning for part number 4112912U26 (cap and screw) and they wanted a staggering £90 inc. VAT for it. If anyone knows of a source for this part that's cheaper than Nissan it would be appreciated if you could pass the info on? I have a 2003 GT pack coupe by-the-way with the gold brembos.
  6. Thanks for the info - £90 is unbelievable. I just noticed it was in the wrong forum when I went searching for responses - must be wishful thinking.

    Sturdy Boot Mat

Just as an update I managed to get a mat from this place: http://glynhopkinpartsonline.co.uk/product/350Z_Boot_Mat_-_Coupe_KE840CD081. There's 20% off at the moment and they do them for roadsters as well if anyones interested. Thanks all for the pointers.

    Sturdy Boot Mat

Great stuff. Looks like I might be then in that case.
  10. Hi all, I'm fed up with the thin boot mat flying all over the place while driving and was thinking of buying some underlay/foam and cutting out a template in the shape of the boot mat and sticking it to the mat with carpet adhesive (unless there's a thicker mat you can already buy for the Zed?). I'm not too bothered about the sound deadening properties of the material (although it would be an added bonus but not at the cost of adding excessive weight) and I'd prefer it not to have any adhesive already applied. It needs to be sturdy enough to stay in one place though and flexible enough to be able to remove in case I have to access the spare wheel etc., so if anyone has any ideas of the best material to use, thickness, cost, etc., your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I'm leaning towards underlay felt but there may well be something better out there that someone has used in the past.
  11. Thanks for the comments. It's certainly given me a couple of things to think about before I make the purchase.
  12. That's an option stubzie83 that I never thought about. ChubbyNinja: the ratchet ones are £30 per set and the flat ones are £25 - both from Halfords.
  13. Hi all, I've had my car since May and it's about time I started thinking about servicing it and was wondering what were the best axle stands to go for. Choice 1 is for the 3 tonne ratchet style ones from Halfords pictured below but I was wondering if the groove cut-out/shape of them would work with the sills of the zed without damaging anything. If anyone has experience of using this kind of stand I would be interested in hearing what you thought. Choice 2 is for the 3 tonne flatter style ones were I could cut some grooves for the sills in some ice hockey pucks and place them on top of the stands. It's more of a faf but if it works and doesn't damage anything it's got to be worth doing hasn't it? Then again, if choice 1 works then what's the point? Anyway, if anyone has an opinion on this or could point me towards a better solution it would be great to hear from you.
  14. I'm after the passenger side/left black leatherette cushioned armrest piece for a 2003 zed that's directly behind the window switches. It unclips from the door card and has a part number and description of 80941 CD000 Armrest LH printed on it but unfortunately it's not available from Nissan as a separate part - you have to buy an entire door card. If anyone can help then feel free to get in touch.
  15. Yes it is. The roads are fantastic with hardly any traffic on them and the scenery's amazing - what more can you ask for.
  16. It was Wednesday, maybe around 2pm. Said driver flashed me anyway and I flashed back. I think I'm going to make a post of my route for anyone that's interested as it was quite monumental and covered the Cairngorns, Keilder Forest, Galloway Forest, Durness, The Lakes, The Dales, Applecross, Glencoe etc., etc., etc. all in the name of trying out my new car. My sister lives about 10 miles west of Kylesku at a place called Drumbeg. Are you from around those parts?
  17. Gunmetal grey, 2003/4 possibly, very similar to my own in-fact, driving along Shore Street in Ullapool of all places which was quite a suprise as I'm from Cleethorpes. Love to know who it was and why they were there as I'm visiting my sister.
  18. rothers2901: fair enough as it would be a right pain to go through the procedure yankeesiter has outlined everytime you had to disconnect/reconnect the battery.
  19. Oxford Maximiser 3800 or 360T: http://www.oxprod.com/index.php?pg=3&action=dept&id=134&pid=197 Ignore the stuff about bikes as it has a car and even caravan/boat modes. Excellent product.
  20. Yes, I've just read this in a Chilton 350z/Infiniti G35 manual (USA) I picked up on ebay. Anyone know why it gives this information then if "usually" it's okay. I'm a new owner so it freaked me out a bit.
  21. Bought a zed a couple of weeks ago and there was a Nissan touch-up paint kit (base and clear coat) in one of the hatches behind the seats, which is handy as I plan on tackling a few stone chips. Only thing is the expiry date on it is 01/2012. I don't even know what an expiry date on paint means but do you think it would be okay to use?
  22. Autoglym Interior Shampoo and lightly scrub with a nail brush.
  23. Bought a Zed yesterday and today while I was reading the owner's book and trying out all of the functions, I must have accidently gone into diagnostic mode and activated the air bag light. Thought I'd bought a wrong 'un for a moment but this fixed it so thanks a lot for the info.
  24. Under what circumstances would you need the number on the tag?
