  1. Yeh, just the driver's side and just when it's down. I'll try it at different heights. If I start pulling panels off and messing about will that not void my warrantee?
  2. So I recently had some bad luck with my zed, and as per bad things come in threes. I was driving up to my parents near Durham (I live near Warrington) when a panel under the car came loose and sheared off, making a very loud noise above 60mph. I stopped off at a service station (about an hour from my parents) and attempted to wedge it in so that I could get to a garage without it causing any further damage. So I eventually got to a mate's garage near my parents and the guy zip-tied the remainder of the panel as a bodge job. This seemed to work pretty effectively. About a week later I noticed a bubbling/farting sound coming from the exhaust near where the panel had come off and had this horrible image that the guy who fixed it earlier had drilled through the exhaust. He hadn't, instead the exhaust had blown (I blame my gf) and so that needed replacing. Luckily I'm under Warranty at Arnold Clark and so as I pulled up there there, with the roof down enjoying a car that sounded like it had the runs, I closed teh door and noticed an unnerving rattle in the door (as if the glass was loose). The mechanism worked fine but I asked them to have a look at it. All in all they replaced the exhaust and panel and lubricated the window. This cost them about £660 (thank god for warranty). The only problem is the window is still rattling, it almost sounds like a bolt is loose and the glass is moving about in the door. Could this cause it to smash? or am I just being paranoid?
  3. haha, no, not exactly what you consider VIP, more like SMIP (Slightly More Important Person). But they are free tickets so I'm hardly going to turn them down, especially when there's some free food and booze. Also, I think all tickets are standing since it's in the middle of a field.
  4. It's at Heaton park, which is where Oasis played a few years ago. Ticketmaster says: Hospitality Package Includes :- 1 Standing ticket 4 free drinks 2 free food tokens Limited edition souvenir merchandise Access to the exclusive VIP area which is open from 2pm till midnight with DJ. I'm getting too old to be squashed and in a sweat-bath (I'm only 25 but anyone under 21 annoys me), Love music, hate crowds and queues; hence the VIP tickets.
  5. Just got 2 VIP tickets to the Stone Roses gig at Heaton Park. Never done VIP; always been squashed against the barriers at the front by a big sweaty middle aged man who smells like he may have done something nasty in his pants. Was just wondering what to expect? I can't imagine it's like on films (by imagine I mean like the scene in Wayne's World with Alice Cooper). How rammed will it be and can you watch from backstage and if so what's it like to view from there?
  6. Depending on how much you got, this is something I've wanted to do for ages but can't justify spending the money: http://www.palmersport.com/
  7. I reckon this would probably get it up to speed, though I doubt it would be worth £6.5k afterwards
  8. bump just notice the same problem with mine today, sounds like someone's blowing a raspberry from the exhaust (I believe that's a good, technical description).
  9. One silver coupe parked on prescott lane today at midday, didn't get a good look. Spotted another turning down towards latchford by the springbrook about the same time, silver roadster with the roof down enjoying the sun. Both looking very nice!!
  10. haha, glad I'm not the only dufus. Just after I got the zed a friend of mine was behind an azure roadster and, thinking it was me, started flashing and giving the finger as a joke. Only when he overtook him did he realise it was a very angry looking bald man
  11. 2002 model spotted Monday 9th May I wasn't paying attention and thought it was mine, tried opening the boot to put my shopping in before getting very confused and finally reading the licence plate, which ended "SEA"
  12. Not just yet, may consider it in a couple of months, still looking at buying a shed to do up so don't want to spend all my money on the zed... As tempting as it is!! Speaking of spending money on the zed, was looking at alloys today, is it just me or does black against the azure blue just look so much better than anything else.
  13. I just bought a pioneer avic d3 (http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product ... -22888.htm) with bluetooth unit CD-BTB200 which, if google is anything to go by, should have cost me in excess of £400. Instead I picked it up on eBay for £130. The microphone clip has gone missing but I'm sure I can sort that out easy enough. The cover plate clip has snapped too, but again I reckon an easy fix. The only thing I need now is to get an up to get it installed and an up to date CD for the sat nav
  14. OK, I hate Clarion and all its b*stard offspring Will have a look at Alpine and pioneer. How much does a fitting generally cost?
  15. That's what I would do if all I want to do is listen to my ipod/iphone and my gf would let me do anything other than drive and clean the zed, but I do like to listen to CDs and would quite like a sat nav too; that's why I mentioned something more sophisticated. Something like this: http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product ... -26725.htm
  16. I put a cd in cd slot 1 and nothing happened, i tried to eject it and it just makes a whirring noise and says EJECT CD. So i tried the other slots (with crap CDs) and none of them worked and they're all doing the same. I read somewhere it could be a malfunctioning bose unit or a stuck cd, any ideas?
  17. Just tried the cd player for the first time and it has eaten all my cds, so i think i can convince my gf that it's knackered and needs replacing.. and then explain that for a few more quid we could get a touch screen computer in there So i need one of 2 thing. The first is (and i think the answer is no fron what i've read elsewhere) is there and easy way to fix the cd player? And failing that the second is whats the best after market replacement for the bose unit? A sat nav would be handy. Unfortunately i can't convince my gf to let me fit it so i i'll need somewhere near warrington/knutsford that will fit it for a reasonable price
  18. I love gadgets, so can't wait to see this in real life. Reminds me a bit of Donnie Darko http://www.mvs.net/#video2
  19. I have though about it but finding a Cat C or D zed near me isn't easy, nevermind a one that's affordable. Unless you know something I don't
  20. Unfortunately I live in Knutsford near Manchester so they're all a bit too far away, especialy glasgow. If I break even I'd still be happy, like I said I'm not really looking for a profit, more the experience and fun of restoring a car.
  21. If I bought it for £400 how much do you reckon it would cost to get it road worthy and ready for a sale? I kind of have a figure in mind, which I would be happy spending. Also, I'm not looking for a quick turnaround and a huge profit to be honest.
  22. Found one that seems perfect. Not too complicated and has some potential. Any thoughts? http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/show/ ... t-car.html Only problem is it's over 100 miles away. Anyone know how it would cost for a flatbed to pick up and deliver that distance?
  23. FYI, the courtesy car extra is worth the £35 a year if the zed is your only car. I needed it once and didn't have it on my policy, busses smell
  24. I wouldn't say Admiral are 3 point friendly. I'm with them and the 3 points I have from 4 years ago make a significant impact
  25. Hah, looks like I need a shopping list
