  1. Has anyone had any dealings with Telford / Stafford / Shrewsbury Nissan? Good or bad for that matter? The 370 I'm picking up tomorrow hasn't had this done, but it's got the letter regarding the recall so I can book it in, just need to choose where. Telford probably - as it's within walking distance from my work. Cheers.
  2. Good answer, thank you. Must be me being used to too many early 90's cars & worrying too much!
  3. +1 for quality, no cheap & cheerful from me either. Out of curiosity, has anyone had 25mm front & rear on their car for a long time or covered lots of miles? Reason for asking is the wheel bearings, their stress & tolerance on a spaced wheel is increased, anyone showing signs of wear at all?
  4. Cheers all :-) Really getting excited about Thursday now, got a 210 mile drive back which is going to be interesting! I really think the 370Z is a great base, doesn't actually need much doing to it at all, exhaust so it sounds nicer & spacers so it sits better are all that's really need imo, it's a fantastic package all round. Can't go spending too much, this is my pride & joy and stupidly expensive second car which is where I need to focus my time & money, the 370 is a treat to myself for getting a new (better paid - obviously) job: A lot has changed since that photo was taken, and I mean a lot. I know there's a high risk of being shot down in flames for this, but can the 370Z tow a trailer? I know it's a 'sports car' and everything but it's got all the right bits for it, and how awesome would it be rolling down the motorway heading to track day with a Evo 3 on the back of a 370, at the age of 23 I might add Anyway, flame suit on! David.
  5. Thanks for all the welcome guys! Test drive was fantastic, such a fun car to drive, instantly arranged collection on Thursday next week. It will need an exhaust though, stock is way too boring, I'm thinking a Invidia Gemini as it sounds more 'mature' And a set of 25mm spacers all round are for sure as well, get those done and call it a day I think. Enjoy it. This is the one I'll be picking up on Thursday; http://www.ashtons.uk.com.mobi.starkwood.co.uk/Stock/Details/2811351 David
  6. Cheers :-) Just realised... There's an introductions section, admin please feel free to move - Sorry!
  7. Hello everyone! Best introduce myself, I've put down a deposit on a 370Z (GT Pack, not the GT Edition) this morning. Somewhat risky purchase, I've been scanning used 370z's for a couple months as I really like them and this one really stood out, age, spec, milage, colour, price, condition, everything. But there's one problem, I've yet to actually drive one - all 3 Nissan dealers close-ish to me have none in stock. Plus the car is just over 200 miles away. I've arranged a test drive of a 2012 GT pack on Saturday just 20 miles up the road from me to see how I get on with it. I can't imagine I'll disapprove to be honest, already read & watched pretty much all the reviews on the web & think it ticks the boxes. Bits of concern at the moment are: - Exhaust noise, most people agree it's too 'boring' - however I'm buying this to be be sensible & steer away from my current car habits (old jap crap, all turbo, modified & loud) So maybe the quietness will be appreciated. - Cabin space, seems that all people reviewing this car over 6 foot say it's a bit cramped, I'm 6.3, admittedly, a large build too - I'm a bit fat put more bluntly. - Rear viability seems non-existent, just curious as to how big & where the blind spot is really. - Road noise, however I doubt it'll be worse than my current cars (S14a daily driver & Evo 3 track car) The car is a 59 plate with 19,000 miles. I've been reading a lot of the threads on here about peoples opinions & comparisons etc which have been very useful, just in case I've missed anything is there any big differences / things to watch out for on early models such as this? It's not had the steering recall work done yet (should this worry me?) But I've requested this be done before collecting which has been agreed. Also, I've been told there's a few stone chips on the bumper (I asked for photo's but I can't actually see them) And also on the rear sills, at the very back jut before the wheels, is this normal too? Is it just the style of the bodywork with the wide / flared rear arches that causes that? If there's anything I should try out / test on my test drive or when collecting the car please fire away by all means. So yeah, all being well I'll pick it up early next week, bif any of you are going to ask "will you mod it?" - I'm hoping not, I've owned a lot of modified cars in the past and want to avoid it - this is going to be daily after all, I have a Evo 3 track car in the garage as well :-) To be honest, the only things I can see myself doing at the most is 25mm spacers, at a push springs, and at a very very high push exhaust - just the back section at that though.
  8. Cheers for all the welcomes guys! I didn't know Ben but the Evo on PH, it went up on Evo123.net and I as down there looking at that weekend! I don't know if you do, I'm not really on there, got less than 10 posts, just been to many DWYB days really. But, as for the Zed, looking bad news I'm afraid, he's been to a Mazda dealer this afternoon and test drove a MX-5 ... I wasn't keen, they start at £22k+ and will loose at least 10-11k in 3 years depreciation, and he was trying to tell us that was good for a new car! Utter bell-end he was too. I've talked her out of a new one but she's defo swaying towards the 5 over the Zed. Not good, but hey, it's her car and her money. She's after a 2.0 hard top convertible for 9ish k, the latest model, mk4 is it now? Utter waste imo, win some - loose some eh.
  9. Huge thanks for all the replies people! I didn't know about the import auto's, that explains why they're hard to find, and as she's only set on the dark blue narrows it down even more! She's looking at spending up to 9k IIRC. I've managed to find one about 35 mins away and going to get to test drive it Saturday I hope it goes well! She also likes the Evo 6's but seeing how much I'm putting into my E3 on top of mods, just maintenance & running it has put her off. But mine is one of best condition cars left in the UK I have to keep it 100%. I won't accept anything less! Then finding a 'respectable' example plus the clutch issue, just a no no. Hell yeah I want her to get one! I like them a lot and wouldn't mind taking it for a spin every now & then :-) My first car was a Colt CZ-T, and I did go a little bit mad with it considering it was my first project -had custom made Coilovers for it, first to upgrade the fueling and ECU on them, ended up looking like this when I finished: I sold it locally to a lad who brought it straight away, since then he's pretty much killed it, it's knocking, tapping, blue smoke on idle, overrun, doesn't boost right, paintwork, bumpers been 'modified' and he's crashed it! Gonna go spend rest of my lunch hour finding some auto's at a dealer that she could test drive as close to home as possible Many thanks again everyone - my knowledge of these cars is pretty much 0, nobody I know has ever had one, nor the 370, never drove one, nor been in one so it's all new to me! David.
  10. Yeah she'd love a auto, but finding a dark blue one second hand is difficult, only a couple about from what I can see. The Silvia's awesome, hard millions of bad luck with it though! a week after I brought it my mate pranged it into a lampost (I stupidly let him drive it so I could hear it, he owns a S15 anyway, didn't think anything of it at the ime) So had to purchase a @*!# load of new parts to get it back up and running :-( I have a S13 1JZ project also, that's being broken for parts, PS13 going the same way. I had so much fun in it and love i hugely! My Evo's booked in for complete re-build, and I've purchased a set of Tein Flex's and 2 new Bride seats from Japan, currently sourcing a AEM stand alone EMS for the build so I should really be focusing on one car at a time as my Evo will be a money pit far greater than the Silvia I reckon!
  11. Hey people, Not the usual intro thread, basically, my Mother has a Mini Cooper and she’s got some cash saved, she’s always liked the 350’s and with age etc doesn’t have to worry about insurance n such. Basically, 5 years ago she had an operation on her left leg and doesn’t have the strength anymore, just using her stock Cooper in stop – start traffic is too much. We live in Shropshire, it’s so rural where we live and go to I’ve not even sat a set of lights for a month, and roll onto roundabouts 99% of the time. It’s only stop-start when some **** crashes into a tractor or something daft. But she will travel down south to see relatives every other month, she covers less than 8k a year. I’ve never driven one, only know of Z’s from the drifting scene (I own a PS13 Silvia myself) how heavy are stock clutches? Any aftermarket clutches which are lighter at all? We’re finding it difficult to find a good second hand car, in dark blue (main part of any car to her is colour…) & automatic. And there’s hardly any local-ish to us which she could test drive! Also, if anyone else wants to add something else or any helpful pointers I’m open to suggestions & opinions, I will be insured on it after all hehehe! And as it’s a intro thread, these are never complete without pics! My daily driver, Evo III GSR And my Weekend car / Drifter, Nissan PS13:
