  1. Any chance another batch of these braces can be made and add on 20%for Mick's time etc ? There's no others available other than shitty OEM. I am sure plenty would support this.
  2. Thanks Alex. From what you say the manual (pages BL92 to 100) are wrong for our cars then. The Keyless control unit (E) part number 28596 3Y500 is something i nearly bought a month ago as several were available until i saw the manual as mentioned earlier. The receiver part must be inside then. Mines a convertible if it makes any difference (2005). I will try a replacement in the hope its whats needed as diagnostics guy said the BCM was not receiving any signal from the receiver. How much incl postage to SS1 3BE Alex?
  3. Here is the exact wording from part of the pdf manual relating to receiver unit.......... Key fob signal is inputted to remote keyless entry receiver (the antenna of the system is built in remote keyless entry receiver). Remote keyless entry receiver sends keyfob signal to BCM terminal 20 from remote keyless entry receiver terminal 2. The remote keyless entry system controls operation of the power door lock hazard and horn reminder auto door lock interior lamp and step lamp panic alarm back door opener (For coupe)
  4. Many thanks for your replies Guys, especially Alex who sent me the pdf BL electrical section of the manual on the 18th July plus the full description from that which shows how the system works. The identification problem still exists however and i am pursuing this on here also to help others in the future who have the same issue. Now, were it not for pages BL92 ,93,94 and 100 of the aforementioned manual I would have easily found the answer by now under the passenger lower dash where 2 modules are easily seen and removed as per the pics i took at the time which i will try to attach here. HOWEVER, those pages above in the manual clearly show the "remote keyless entry RECEIVER" as a separate item with only a 3 wired connection to the BCM . On ebay USA there are several showing the RECEIVER module with the 4 slot socket with only 3 being used. The BIG question for me is therefore? Is the manual wrong on this and the receiver/antenna part for UK cars is within the 3/4 inch long black module shown in the post above from Ian. That would mean the manual is very wrong and misleading for us and has wasted weeks of my time and money for diagnostics. Lets get this all clarified to everyones benefit.
  5. Hi Alex and thanks for responding. Mine is a UK 2005 soft top manual . No one has helped answer my question about exactly which side and where the receiver module is. It must be on drivers side as we cant find it passenger side?
  6. I recently did a differential and gearbox oil change, no problem . The coolant swap came next and followed several youtube guides to make sure i was not missing something even though its a simple and straight forward operation. I warmed the car up, put heater setting on hot, ramped the front up a little and then released the fluid by removing the plastic plug under the radiator and opened the pressure cap. After 20 mins i opened the bleed valve on the small top hose and left it all for half hour to fully drain. I thought about turning over the engine briefly to get the water pump to send some more out but decided against that and anyway, no one had suggested it. I opened my first 5 litre bottle of nissan premixed coolant and slowly filled up and continued the process over a few hours according to the guides. All easy but after fully filling and bleeding the system with no air left therein I found that no more than the 5 litres was needed. Have any of you guys found this also. Now I have a spare unopened 5 litre of coolant.
  7. Doing my head in trying to find and fix the receiver for the remote alarm. Page 100 of the BL section of the component pdf as photo below shows the small 3 wire module under the passenger lower instrument panel but its not there and a diagnostics specialist also couldnt find it today. Is the diagram for left hand drive and so should be on the drivers side in the UK? Also i see there are several modules for sale in the US which are all white/opaque plastic with four pin sockets (but only 3 apply) whereas a couple for sale from Germany i think are dark plastic and look very different with lots of pins. Can anyone say for sure where it is and what colour please. Alex, do you have a good used one for sale?
  8. Its been a while since I posted on here as have been living abroad without my Z. 2005 uk manual soft top. Since returning in May, car been running fine until a few days ago when central locking started playing up. Key fob would only unlock/lock at very close range all of a sudden but once working it would perform from over 40 ft away with no problem so ruled out the suspected low battery. It sounded like the door locks were struggling to operate so checked and all lubricated ok and car battery good by the way. Some hours later, the same difficulty in getting system to lock/unlock but did eventually at close range and all ok immediately after as before. However an hour later nothing would function and after dozens of attempts over last couple of days it seems its finally packed up. I did the reprogramming routine with new batteries in 2 fobs dozens of times to no avail (this part of routine would not occur :7. The warning lights will flash once to indicate successful programming). I have easily done it in the past so think its a fault in the receiver unit in the car. There don"t seem to be any fuses relating to this from the two fuse boxes. My question is where is the receiver unit does anyone know and is it easy to replace? I imagine a new part from nissan is costly and would try for one from a breakers after checking that mine is not repairable.
  9. Mine is a June 2005 regd uk convertible. Engine number on log book 483784.
  10. Well the code reader arrived and confirmed error code P0340 bank 1 camshaft position sensor which I think is on the drivers side in uk cars and is the straight one. I believe from a recent post that the oem part has been upgraded and looks a little different to the black plastic original and is no doubt better. I need one of these now and is it quicker to go to local nissan main dealer or do any of the traders on here have them. Alex? Whats the price nowadays?
  11. Looks like I need to replace bank 1 CPS as got all the symptoms and waiting for new OBD reader to confirm error code. There is a very big difference in price between the OEM sensor and the many other alternatives available and my question is has anyone on here replaced with a non OEM part and is it working ok?
  12. Thanks Kryptek49. I have ordered one of those to diagnose what I think is a faulty cam position sensor as have all the usual symptoms.
  13. Its been a couple of years since this was aired and tech/diagnostic products move forward very quickly. SO; whats a good reasonably priced reader nowadays from your experience? I dont need some super software based reader but a good one for the Z although I think they are all multi car brand anyway. ANY THOUGHTS GUYS? thanks, Glenn.

  16. From Oct to March incl car is in alarmed secure garage in my back garden and only used as 2nd car for about 2k miles in summer. 10yrs ncd. Which insurers take this reduced risk into account in their quotes as most don't and won't insure for larger rims.
  17. 67 ahh! Had z 5yrs as summer play thing/2nd car. It replaced my stag that I owned for 33yrs. Should have kept the stag as well as now worth twice what I sold it for(was 7k before you mention £1500 ha ha) Z is more usable and faster of course.
  18. Bodyboarder81, why did you remove the berks HFCs after such a short time? Any issues with MOT or too noisy?
  19. Thanks guys. Will try uprated fluid first. If its the slave (or master) cylinder then why does it only happen when everything is well and truly hot and not when cooler or in first hour or so of driving?
  20. Hi all, Had 55plate Z 16 months now and still same problem throughout with clutch pedal fading to near floor when engine etc hot. Even worse when brake pedal pushed at same time. When cooled down all returns to normal. Not done 46,000 miles yet and i drive conservatively! (crazy I know) Changed fluid but not sorted although was not upgraded type so replacing with DOT 4 Motul RBF600 as seen others here and in US. cured the same problem with this. I believe the fluid line gets overheated from the manifold and vapour lock occurs. Not looked yet but should there be a heat shield to prevent this I am thinking. Glenn.
  21. THANKS GUYS. It seems the coupe stock spoiler wont directly fit the roadster so after looking at whats available I have ordered the lip type from spoiler depot in the states. $100 incl shipping: not bad at all and will paint/ fit it myself. will I be clobered for tax on delivery and if so any idea about how much anybody?
  22. pics have too many pixels to load on here except the 2 below...
  23. Thanks to you all for your welcome messages. Hopefully, 4 pics of the stag and the supra will appear below or attached. (fiest time I have used this option). 2 head gaskets in its life including full engine rebuild last year. Waxoiled throughout when I first got the stag in 1978 and it paid dividends with no rust anywhere. The supra i bought at auction in Dublin when they were not imported directly into England.
  24. Hi Guys, just bought a roadster and the one thing I always think they fall short on is the rear end view which needs a subtle spoiler. (I am accustomed to my Supras looks you see). Question:- will the oem lip spoiler fit without having to make holes in the bodywork? Have any of you fitted one and was it difficut to get a perfect fit/ look.? cheers, Glenn.
  25. Paid my deposit and its being delivered next week. Mk 4 supra owner for 12 yrs and still love it but treated myself to a convertible 05 plate 350 to replace the Triumph Stag I recently sold after over 33 years (yes you young folks... 33 yrs) of ownership. I look forward to getting to know you guys and my new toy when the weather picks up and exchanging info on this site. cheers, Glenn.
