  1. Thanks for all the responses chaps. It has really helped me out. I borrowed an OBD2 reader from a guy at work and managed to find the fault code to be P1147. I have had a look on the list and this is the 'heated O2 sensor 2' ? The little gismo he lent me also allowed me to turn off the EML after reading the code. If the light returns i will take the vehicle back to the dealership i bought it from as it is still under warranty. I'm hoping it was just a blip ???
  2. Well i'm in Leicestershire so a bit far out for you bud. If i could at least get the EML flashing when going through the 'pedal dance' at least i would know i was onto something. The thing i don't understand is why doesn't dis connecting the battery reset the EML ? It resets the stereo channels and the trip computer so why not the ECU ?
  3. The method i am using is, 1) turn ignition on and wait 3 seconds 2) press and release accelerator pedal 5 times within 5 seconds 3) Wait for 7 seconds 4) Press and hold accelerator pedal for 10 seconds (during which the EML should start flashing). 5) Release the accelerator pedal for another 10 seconds. 6) Press and hold accelerator pedal for another 10 seconds 7) Switch ignition off and then start vehicle (EML should now go out and stay out). Only modifications are a scorpion back box and centre section and a K & N panel filter. Vehicle has been running this way for the last couple of hundred miles with no EML showing.
  4. The vehicle is a 2005 roadster if that makes any difference !!
  5. Hi guys. My engine management light came on today and it won't go off. Its not flashing, its just on all the time. The car doesn't feel as though its running any differently. I tried resetting the ECU by doing the 'pedal dance' but for some reason that doesn't do a damn thing on my car, no flashing cel or anything. I even tried dis connecting the battery but as soon as i started the car again the EML came straight back on. Any ideas ?
  6. You won't be dissapointed. I've just had a scorpion fitted to my Z roadster. It seems like a similar sound to the original and its not intrusive atall. Its also a well put together system and half the price of the OEM system !!!
  7. Err, so what can we take away from this thread ? Oh yes, ask 10 people and you will get 10 different answers. This is my 10 penneth. There's lots of nice cars out there obviously, most of which we will probably never own ? Well i know i won't anyway. When you start to look at the overall package for the money though, the 350z makes so much sense. It has looks, performance, style and it gets as many glances as most of the other cars in this thread. If you can buy a comparible Boxster (age, mileage, condition etc) for the same money as your Z then it might be worth a look but it all comes down to what floats your boat. Around 4 years ago a friend of mine bought a Boxster S. It was a 2000 model with about 50,000 on the clock so it was about 7 years old when he bought it. It cost him £15,000. He ran it for about 18 months and we worked out that in servicing, tyres, exhaust and repairs, bla blah blah that it had cost him a further £5,000. This wasn't including road tax, insurance and fuel etc. When he sold it he got £9,000 for it and he struggled to sell it for that. I think he had only put about 6,000 miles on it in that time aswell. So, all in all that Boxster cost him about £11,000 in 18 months !!! Nice. I'm not suggesting it wasn't a good car and i know he certainly enjoyed it but i never did see it as anything special and the build quality was appalling to be fair. Lots of things went wrong with it during his ownership and that wasn't down to it being mis treated as he really looked after it. My Z cost me less to buy than he lost on his Boxster in 18 months, and i see it as a much more satisfying drive and a better looking car but thats subjective of course. I guess what i am trying to say (in a nutshell) is, we bought our 350z's for a reason. Our reasons may differ but we bought them anyway. And i for one know that my Z puts a great big fat smile on my face everytime i slip into the drivers seat and thats the basics of what car ownership should be about. The Boxster wouldn't do that for me. Now, a 996 is a totally different ball game altogether but its a supercar, not a sportscar. RXS
  8. Well i've only had mine about 5 weeks and have never seen another Z when out in her I have only seen about 4 others in this time and they were all coupe's but i was driving my Vectra at the time. There must be loads of them in the country so why do they seem so rare on the road ??

    Vehicle storage

Yes, sorry bud. I don't really want anything more than 15 - 20 miles away so i can carry out some work over winter. Thanks anyways, RXS
  10. Bladesgrant : I don't mind a boot lip spoiler but just didn't want one of the tiny ones that don't really make much of a visual difference. I will check out spoiler depot. Thankyou, RXS
  11. Hi Alex. Would it be possible to have some pictures of the subtle spoiler you removed from your roadster. Is the Nismo N1 spoiler the same as the one fitted to the roadster in your sig. If it is, WOW, that is certainly a spoiler. It would be a bit much for my roadster but it definatley suits yours. Regards, RXS
  12. Thanks bud. I am aware of that. I know that spoilers for the coupe are in abundance but i appreciate that roadster spoilers are a bit harder to come by. Thats why i am asking on here because if there aren't any available on here i have no idea where to look

    Vehicle storage

Hi folks, is anyone in the east midlands area with a garage or car storage space to rent out. I have a classic motor that needs taking off the road for winter for a few mods to be carried out. I'm in Leicestershire so anything near to here would be preferable. Thanks, RXS
  14. As the title suggests. I am after a rear spoiler for my Roadster and a complete set of splash guards. Gunmetal would be preferred but i could always get a respray if the items are solid. I don't want anything with any previous repairs thanks. I would like the spoiler to be something more than a boot lip jobbie but nothing too OTT. Subtle is my preferred style Regards, RXS
  15. Hi there. I have a good solid OEM exhaust from my 55 plate roadster. I have the rear silencer/backbox section and the link pipe that takes you up to the 'Y' pipe if its any good to you. Its all good and hasn't had any bodged repairs. Let me know what you think ? RXS.
  16. Thought i would add a few pictures. We all like pictures !!! Lets see if this works ?
  17. My word, you are a friendly bunch. Thanks for the welcomes folks. The 2nd mod has been completed with a k&n panel filter. Its started. I'm now looking at the Japspeed Y pipe as i read that they are the one to go for with the Scorpion SS system ? Its started. Whilst on the subject of air filters, why did Nissan decide to make it a 2 minute job to change an air filter that probably lasts for years, and think it was ok to have to remove the front end to fit a bloody headlight bulb ? An easy access point would have been nice. Still on the honeymoon period though and i'm in love RXS
  18. Hi there. Been lurking around on here for a couple of weeks but just wanted to say hi. I bought my 350z GT Roadster a few weeks back on a 55 plate in gunmetal. Just had a SS scorpion fitted which i love. I can only say that its my 1st z car and although i've wanted one for ages i can't believe you can get so much spec and performance for the money. Everything else seems so much more out of reach financially. My only real concern is a thread that someone put on here a couple of weeks ago about having suffered 2 blown engines in a week. Its a 3.5ltr V6 for heavens sake. Is this normal ? I would have thought these engines would last forever, especially being japanese too. Is the 350z a ticking time bomb ? RXS

    standard backbox

Hi Grinch. I don't know if you're sorted yet but i have just had a SS scorpion back box and link pipe fitted to my roadster and can definately say that the cabin noise is no more intrusive to the standard system in my opinion. It was something i was worried about but needn't have been. I have only done a couple of hundred miles with it on so far so i can't wait until its settled in. All i can say is, for the price, the quality and fit is amazing but London Road Garage in Coalville, Leicestershire did mine and those guys take alot of pride in their work and i would recommend them to anyone. They do all the work on my cars that i can't do at home and can really be trusted with your pride and joy. As a result of the Scorpion being fitted, i now have the original back box and adjoining link pipe for sale if you are interested. Its still solid and has no repairs. RXS
  20. Lmao I nearly murdered a mate who tried to steal mines from my bike. As long as the valves are ok no air will escape. Valve caps aren't air tight. They just stop beggers lettin your tyres down. I'm sure they do stop people letting your tyres down as easily but if i am not mistaken, they are to stop all the road crud gathering inside the valve. The clue is in the title, 'dust cap'

    Paint info needed

Thankyou very much. 'Humbrol' metallic 54 it is then
  22. Hi guys and gals. I've recently purchased a 2005 350z GT Roadster in gunmetal grey. She's lovely but i just want to do a few small bits to get her looking tip top. I've spent the last week over doing the valeting thing and i'm very happy with the results. Clay bar is my favourite thing in the world, well after the car that is !!! I was just wondering if anyone knows the paint code for the Brembo calipers as there are a couple of stone chips on one of mine and i want to treat. Does such a thing exist and if so, where might i get hold of some ? Thanks in advance, RXS
