  1. I'm with more than! I insure my Z with them with full NCB (10 years plus). I bought a new corsa for the wife and insured it with them with my wife as the main driver and me as a named driver. They mirrored my NCB onto the corsa policy. Really good price £505 for the Z and £220 for the corsa and its brand new. ;)

  2. Coming off tomorrow, I can post up pics after i've cleaned it

Ive had a few pm's prior to this but in the interest of fairness im putting it on here and first come first served.

18 months old, covered 6000 miles which is nothing bearing in mind they are covered with a lifetime guarantee.

Im pretty stacked out this week and weekend with Wales etc but should be able to post as early as next week.

Please post your interest on this thread first

Might be worth getting 2 new gaskets in case your existing ones are no good... think Alex has these pretty cheap

PS Dont start asking me what ive got as I want to keep it stum before Wales

    Cheers

    Does it include middle section?

  3. Yeah just how they are. My 1st gear is a bit clunky sometimes and so is 2nd. I think I know what you mean though, when crawling in traffic at very slow speeds it is nice sometimes to put it back in 1st especially if the engine is labouring a bit. I do this sometimes and it can work but it can be stubborn sometimes, you need to be very close to stationary for it to work.

What you think of your panel filter mate? I'm getting a new zorst in june and i was thinking of dropping a panel filter in as well. Was thinking about an ITG, HKS or the likes. :D

  4. I think this is normal. You shouldn't really try changing down to 1st whilst you are still moving

Thanks, yip i agree, cars got enough torque to drive slowly in second/third gear.

  5. Alrighty,

I'm looking for some advice. My car is a 2004 Gt with no mods. I'm having a problem changing into first gear mainly when my car is cold. When my car is running and stationary i have no problem going through the gears.

When i'm slowing down and i try to downshift into first gear ( below 5 mph) its really hard to put it into 1st. I sometimes have a problem going into second as well. All other gears are perfect.

Problem is not as bad when car warms up! I was thinking its because revs are higher when car is cold??

Just had a major service with gearbox/ diff oil changed with proper grades of oil.

  6. Couple more pics

New (Company) van, Better Halfs MR2 Roadster Her DD, MY 06 ZED :D its mine, Toyota Hilux (Company) my DD.

I had the SRI 150bhp astra 5 door XP pack before my VXR and it was really good, have a look at the 888 model on 5th gear, racing the astra vxr. ;)

  7. Decided to go for a custom exhaust as I cant afford the Miltek and although the scorpion sounds great i dont like the tailpipes.

Went today to have a chat with Simon custon exhausts and he couldnt be more helpful. Only problem i now have is to much choice! :headhurt:

I was going to have a similar set up as stock but in stainless steel, but after talking to simon he may have convinced me into a dual exhaust.

Options are Y pipe, mid pipe with silencer and back box with silencer 2.5 inch pipe (similar as stock system) .

    Or,

Dual pipes from cats with silencers and then another 2 rear silencers at the rear instead of one big silencer 2.25 inch pipe.

Any opinions/advice as i dont really know the pros and cons of both.

  8. I considered the custom route again. my old ST170 had a custom zorst built by c&c stainless in Hillington. They've just recently quoted me £640 for a cat back system for the Zed! Twin can style like a k1! B)

Decided to get the Japspeed k1 so I can use the extra pennies I saved on other mods!

I got a quote from them today aswell, same price. Thought they were a bit expensive! They weld the whole exhaust together in sections I think. I would prefer it if most of it was mandrel bent tbh, I think joints= weakness. Only my opinion!

They have got a really good reputation though.

Yeah I thought it was expensive too! :surrender: Your correct bout the weld in sections deal as that's what my old zorst was like! Never had a problem with it! Lifetime guarantee like everyone/everywhere else!

Go for an aftermarket zorst and spend your change on some other mods! :#1:

TBH Simon custom exhausts is making me a Y section back fitted for less than a Scorpion supply only! For an extra £120 he'll include the Y section aswell.

That's a good price! B) Think I'll be paying them a visit to build me a Y pipe!

I'm going tomorrow to see what excactly I want. I'll keep you posted mate.

  11. If it was yesterday it was my 350z he was fixing the flexijoints on but it's a scorpion system with japspeed y pipe and decats. My old man dropped it off though as I'm away this week for work.

He also built Irfan and jays systems I believe.

    Yip was yesterday.

Do you know if Jay and Irfan are happy with there's mate?

  12. He used to work or own powerflow, He repaired my nismo y-pipe, He built jay's and irfans exhausts aswell i think.

He definately knows his stuff but can be a little pricey sometimes.

I think it was a scorpion he was repairing for cragus, his y-pipe flexi burst

    Yip it was mate!

Price wise, i found him really reasonable. Nice guy couldnt be more helpful tbh.

  13. Hi all,

Has anyone here used or heard of Simons custom exhausts in East Kilbride? I'm thinking of going to him for a custom exhaust.

I cant really afford a miltek system and im not sure of the tailpipes on the scorpion! Simon sounds really professional, also he has done numerious 350Z systems. When I was there he was repairing a K2 systems flexi pipes on the Y section for a customer.

I know custom systems aren't a brand name but I can get exactly what I want. Also all exhausts are guarenteed for life and can be modified at anytime to make them louder etc.

  14. Go with the milltek, as the K2 speaking from experience fits the zed as well as Dawn French's pants fit Kate Moss! Had loads of fitting issues with the back box and Ypipe :surrender:

Miltek is my first choice, but cant afford cat back system as ive just bought my Z and ive spent a fortune on it in the last 2 weeks, if i could get y section back then I probably could afford it! But not sure if thats possible? Second choice is the scorpion Y section back, but not sure of the tail pipes.

  15. Like a few people I've read on here, my 350Z has been the victim of mindless petty vandalism from time to time, presumably by drunken mindelss yobs or thieving little oiks

I've had my wing mirror snapped off twice, countless sets of tyre valve caps nicked and now 3 of the badges stolen (complete with screwdriver/penknife gouges where they prised the badges off) just a couple of nights ago.

Unfortunately I don't have a driveway so have to park my car on the road outside the back of my house. It's relatively quiet most of the time but is also quite a regular shortcut through to a housing estate nearby for people returning in the late/early hours after pubbing/clubbing in town. I do park as near to my house and as near as possible to a street light too.

I am now going to install a motion detecting security light shining from my back fence onto the area I usually park my car in to try and put some people off.

Advice I had from police/community officer is that CCTV is uselss unless you actually know who it is and it can then be used to confirm a suspect. But it's not good or clear enough if you don't have an idea who it is (also it's pretty expensive !!!). So not much use really. But might think about a dummy camera maybe ?

Police suggested parking somewhere else (why should I park somewhere away from my house and then I would worry about it more anyway) or a cover (which I personally think would attract more unwanted attention than help - also might scratch car with continued use - also a pain in the 'arris).

Just wondered if anyone has any good reasonable ideas to try and avoid or minimise these petty vandalism problems.

I am also aware that confronting the people doing this, if (and that's a big if) I could actually catch them at it, may actually make things worse and it could snowball into more dangerous acts (letting down/punturing tyres) or worse vandalism (keying paintwork, smashing windows etc.) or could also escalate into damage to my house as they know where I live, but I won't necessarily actually find out who they are or where they live. Giving them a good clip round the lughole may make me feel better in the short run but could lead to a lot worse given the way people are these days !!!

So any useful, reasonable deterrant type ideas would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

Find out who they are and return the favour (discretly), Its only my opinion! Would rather loss my pride and joy than let someone off with that kind of nonsence!

  16. I will be mate, i'll be about during the weekend though if you're around and not busy

Aye mate, that would be good i'm off work this weekend. I'll send you my moby number by pm, text me and i'll come down and see you. I only live half a mile away!

  17. If you're saying price isn't an issue :p

Sorry meant to say, price between scorpion and custom isnt an issue.

For what i want it for the scorpion is more than adequate. i just thought for more or less the same price i could have a custom system. :)

had my mind made up for the scorpion, but now i cant make my mind up. Scorpion is a safe bet, but I'm not sure of the tail pipes, custom I can choose to keep it looking stock!

theres a guy on here from fife who has a custom job with two seperate cans and it is honestly the best sounding exhaust i have ever heard. his names jason btw

You going to the Gym on monday mate?

  19. Just about to order my Scorpion Y section back exhaust and a friend suggested a custom made stainless steel system. I contacted a few manufacturers and there slightly cheaper than the Scorpion system. Price isnt an issue I just want the best system for the car.

Anyone running a custom system or have any views/ opinions on them?

  20. Stuarty - come along to Modified Live on the 15th at Knockhill - you'll be able to hear several.

I've got two spare tickets if you want to show your car

Wouldn't mind going mate but i dont think I would show my car as Its totally standard!

  21. Hey dude!

Where abouts in Glasgow are you?

Loads of us in Glasgow area!

Sadly You've just missed the Springtime meet! The next is Knockhill in two weeks time but I think it's all booked up! Won't be long till next meet! keep checking the meets page!

Worth waiting and hearing a few zorsts in person! I did! B)

Maybe if your not too far away and :pmzmanalex: isn't too busy he'll be able to check your clicky axle! You could always ask him!

    Alright mate,

I'm in Wishaw near Motherwell. I went today and had a listen to Mark at the Garage in motherwell's Scorpion system really like the sound of it and its reasonable priced! So i'm going to order one in a few weeks.

I'll keep my eye on the meets page and I'll get along to the next one.

  22. Alrighty,

I'm new to the forum and I was wondering how often there are Scottish meets? Anyone know when the next central scotland meet is?

I'm buying a new zorst in the next few weeks and i'd like to hear what they sound like in the flesh. Also i think i have the rear axle clicking problem and i'd like a second opinion from someone in the know! ;)

  23. Hi,

i've just bought my first 350z. I have a noise from the back axle area that I cant locate.

When I accelerate quite hard theres a noise from the back end. Not sure if its a clicking noise or not! Sounds more like metal tapping against metal.

It only does it when the back end drops when I accelerate then again when the back end comes back up. Thought it may be a suspension issue like a worn bush or drop link, but everything looked fine when it was serviced two weeks ago. It dosen't do it when i go over uneven roads or potholes. Also it dosen't happen when driven slow forwards or backwards. :
