  1. Well the 350 is booked in on tuesday to have the cats/exhaust inspected. Just been away for 2 days in it and it behavied immpecabily up to 90% power but the stink in the cabin from the cats is still there after a bit of boot and the sound from the Nismo pipes is still a bit flat - thought a fresh tank of V-Power might sort it but unfort not So.. if it does turn out to be one of the cats gone i'm going to treat it to a set of Japspeed decat pipes which should sit nicely with the nismo cat back system. One thing i did notice was a metallic 'clicking' or 'tinking' sound from the back when pulling away?? Sounds a bit like if the back box was loose and was knocking against something with the gravity of pulling off (as it were ) I've really shook the box about when stationary but it doesnt move at all so cant be that. Anyone else out there with a nismo cat back set-up get this??
  2. Hmm, just been away for a couple of days to the cotswolds in the 350 (great roads, well surfaced and pretty straight), knowing that something is astray with one of the cats (gettit?) and noticed how feckin hot the floor gets in the cabin if you're pressing on a bit in warm weather. Honestly you could keep your lunch red hot all day if you put it between the floor carpet and the mat! Of course having a cat unti under each occupants floor doesnt help this Anyone else found this??
  3. Yep same for me. No probs with yours i dont think. Enjoy..
  4. Not much electronic going on here so im gonna fly the flag: 1. Above & Beyond TATW Podcast 365. 2. Jaytech Music Podcast 39. 3. Nismo Exhaust!
  5. Yeah jacked it up yesterday and had a look underneath while running, also bunged the pipes up at the same time but didnt notice any leaks. Need it up on a ramp to have a proper look though as couldnt get right under at the front..
  6. Would i get a dash warning light if cat has failed...?

  8. Has anyone ever used these guys for anything Zed related? They are listed as dealers on the Japspeed website and I might need to get Japspeed decat pipes fitted on Wednesday so wondered if anyone had any experience with them? Seem geared more to Skylines but.. Cheers.
  9. The MPG computer on my daily driver (Pug 307) and work van go to 99.9 mpg when engine braking so i'd certainly say it uses little or no fuel at all
  10. ...just jacked car up then took it for a run. Heres what I observed. - I blocked the pipes up and there doesnt seem to be any pressure leaking from back box to cats (no blowing heard). - The cabin stinks of that cat small (egg) after a few high rev gear changes up to speed. - The usually rorty/howly exhaust note from the Nismo pipes is now muted. - The car feels a little bit down on power, not much but just a bit. Any thoughts?? Will call a garage specialist on Mon morning but if its screaming as a known prob it would be great to know. Thanks..

  12. Found this on 350zmotoring.com: **In Nissan's quest to build a powerful yet comfortable sports car, the motor mounts on the VQ35 engines were softened a bit. The result is substantial movement of the engine under hard acceleration and deceleration. And since the headers, test pipes, Y-pipe, and exhaust system are connected to the engine they are subjected to these stresses as well. End result? We are seeing a lot of cracking / fracturing of aftermarket exhaust systems - usually around the Y-pipe or the test pipes. Sometimes the cracking is not severe - just enough fracturing for some exhaust gas to escape (thus the hissing). I know I've personally been through 3 test pipes on my Z, especially after aggressive (track) driving.** Does anyone know if this is a well known thing on our forum? P.S - sorry for posting this thread in 3 sections but if a big prob I need to try and get it looked at asap so a bit of saturation posting done..

  14. Hi all. Have a Nismo cat back exhaust and on tonights run it just isnt sounding right. As you prob know with the Nismo you get a very rorty bark from the pipes when pressing on but tonight, straight out the garage, it sounds very flat and of standard exhaust note (no offence meant to anyone with standard pipes ). Also, after giving it a bit of boot, it smelt a bit off egg in the cabin (no beans for dinner though). I noticed this smell on the last few runs but the noise was ok then, tonight its just lost its note. Car has only done 36k/4yrs old so i'd be suprised if the cat had gone but maybe theres issues with the Zeds cat I dont know about? Also heard a small metallic knocking sound coming from the exhaust as it moves under power and off-throttle recently but assumed this was just movement. If anyone can suggest anything, before i take it in to be looked at, i'd very much appreciate the help. Cheers, Stroudy...

  16. Does anyone have this simple set-up? I have the Nismo fitted but looking to go for decats, preferably Japspeed, so wondered if anyone can tell me if they have just this and how it sounds in the cabin? I already know how good it will prob sound from the outside Ta..
  17. Has anybody got or tried any of these two types on a Zed? Finding it difficult to find our standard sizes at the mo. Did search but didnt find a gread deal on here about use of them. The 888's are getting some brilliant reviews, some bloke has been using them on his daily driver M5 and loves them.. even ok in the wet so long as you're not an idiot. Any thought??
  18. Hmm. Not caused me any probs at all until yesterday, as dont ever do hardcore standing starts as have a bit of mechanical sympathy, but sometimes you just feel the need for speed! Will keep an eye on it and not try any 'attempting the manufacturers 0-60 claims' for a while and see what happens. I suspect that it wont be an issue but will need to be looked in to at some point i guess. Thanks for all your help, any more pointers would be grately received. Cheers...
  19. Nope never rest foot on clutch, hate that habit. Thrust bearing eh..
  20. Wondering if anyone can shed light on something that heppened yesterday. I made a fairly swift start from a cross roads, esp off, revs up to about 4k, lifted the clutch fairly quickly and gave it a few beans.. and the clutch pedal, once released, stayed pretty much down on the floor and slipped the power deliver a lot?? Changed into second and backed right off and the pedal was still near the floor. After 10 odd secs it came back up to normal raised position and all was back to normal. Is this some kind of safety feature does anyone know?? I would have thought ESP off would have meant no barriers to full power deliver at all? Did smell a bit 'clutchy' when i got out of it at home 20mins later too. Any help much appreciated as need to know if I have a prob or not. Car is a 30k miles 2007 GT with very light use and clutch, and rest of drive train, usually feels like new. Cheers.
  21. Yup, i have a nismo system and its the same as the one in Beavis's photo - sorry!
  22. Turned the ESP off for the first time at the weekend (56 plate UK GT). Thought it made a noticable difference to the feel and responce of the car which was a nice surprise as some systems still have a bit of a hold even when they're meant to be 'off'. Not this though.. the rears do spin up very easily eh! My question is: when ESP (off) button is pushed, is it just the TC that is deactivated or is there other stuff turned off as well. Did do a forum search but couldnt find much on this..
  23. Got it done at Martins Renault in Winchester after a tip off from Tim on this forum. Martins are a Nissan, Renault and MG dealer all in same the building. Nissan next door wanted £265 for a P3 (thats still cheap for a dealer) and Mike Brimson in the service dept at Renault did it for £50 off that, came to £214.62. They even used the Nissan service check list, which i got afterwards to add to the history, and a dealer stamp in the book. Sounds like you'd save lots Ace even by driving down here and back. Was a good job too. 01962 810000
  24. Ok cheers, thats sorted that out.
