  1. I know what you mean, it's a good package. I went from a Cooper S to the ST. The Cooper S was great...for about 4 weeks then drove me nuts. It was a go kart, but with a ride to match. The dash rattled like a b@st@rd and the dealers wouldn't do jack about it. Had electrical faults as well. Looked great, but I only kept it 8 months which meant an ear bashing bashing from she who must be obeyed. Never regretted buying the ST. A good option if you need a practical car, but I'd stick with the Z if not
  2. I never found the car souless..but I guess it would be dull if we all liked the same cars. At the end of the day it's a focus...but a quick one with lots of tuning options. I guess the question is, what did you think of the car to drive? If you enjoyed it then it's practical, mpg about the same as Zed and quick with good handling. If I bought one now it would be the facelift, just because the front end looks better. Would I spend the extra on an RS..no chance it's still a focus! Can't think of to many cars similar, Seat Leon Cupra, Golf GTI (mega bucks), Astra VXR (not my taste), BMW 130i...I'm struggling now!
  3. I had a panther black 57 plate ST3 (leather, climate, xenons etc...) it was a great car. It was a standard 225PS, handled great, sounded good (love the 5 pot), I did 15000 miles in it from new and never had any problems at all. Build quality was pretty good. Plastics not the best. I didn't like some of the wacky colour schemes some have, blue/red seats bolsters, but that's just me. If you want a comfortable cruiser with loads of torque in all the gears, which is very quick and sticks to the road like glue then they are hard to beat for the money. Never tuned mine, but you can get Stratagem handsets with 5 maps, and easily tuned up to 275BHP with it, you can pick them up for about £500 notes. Loads of options for them. Great car for the money. Yes they are a bit stealth, but that's not always a bad thing!

    Powder coat rims

Are they off the batmobile? Don't like em sorry!
  5. £315 is good, who's that with and what mileage a year? And importantly, are they mod friendly?
  6. They told me that if it improves performance then they won't insure, but cosmetic mods were ok. Best bet is to give them a call and see what they say. I'm going to have a look at changing insurance in the next few days. I can't wait until November.
  7. If you do, post them up, I think they would look great on white.
  8. You can always ask, they might give you a different story. I'd like to stay with them as they've always been the cheapest for me and dealt with a couple of claims really well.
  9. I think there must be something wrong with yours. I've had quite few conversations at around 70 and no need to shout, the caller is really clear, always connects first time and generally works a treat! Voice dialling also works really well. Not sure if it would make a difference (shouldn't), but I'm using a Nokia E71. No need to lean toward the microphone at all. Try a different phone if you can or get the stealers to check it out.
  10. +1 for Megs NXT, lots of suds and cleans very well.

    My Z

Hi mate, yep loving the car, just clocked up 1000 miles and I look forward to jumping in the car every time. Haven't bought an exhaust yet as I can't insure it with Privilege. Due for renewal November, so I'm going to have one ready to fit then. The car deserves a better exhaust note. I may even ditch Privilege early soy stock exhaust is in reasonable nick still. I've been checking out exhausts on YouTube and on the American 370z website as the options they have are huge. To be honest I'm none the wiser though. I'd like to hear a better clip of the Scorpion. The Agency power exhaust seems good value as well, sound seems great and it has some silencers you can take on and off the tips if you fancy it loud or not. Seems to get some good reviews. There's a uk agent as well if you do a search. I don't want to make the wrong choice though! I may do a poll to see who's got what fitted in the uk as the only mention has been Stillen and Scorpion. Are you going to change as well? Any thoughts what?
  12. I've done this on the 5.9% deal, max I could put down was £10K (I'd have liked to put half down but couldn't). I got £3K off. so list £32K I get the car for £29K. £19K to finance, my payments are £266 a month Total over 24 months = £6384 +my deposit = £16.5K Residual value according to my agreement (15000 miles a year) = £14300. At the end I can hand the car back or pay it off and keep the car. It means the car will still have only cost me £30800 max. I could also trade it in and if the car is worth more than the £14K (I''d hope it would be or I'll probably just keep it), then there's part of my deposit for the next one. And I've got 3 years RAC and 2 free services. Not sure if this is still part of the deal. This is an OK deal on list, but is a GREAT deal if you can get it with £3k off list! Don't be frightened of PCP's just make sure you are in the position to pay off the final sum (or take a loan out if needed) and that the figures stack up. I did intend to just get a loan and pay the full amount off, but the figures for this were no worse. If BP have any more nightmares and petrol prices go through the roof and the car's value bombs then I just hand it back and walk away at the end. I'd have lost the 10K deposit anyway through normal depreciation even if I'd paid cash. Hope this helps. Phil
  13. I live in Kettering and my wife uses Hi-tec automotive on Telford Way. The owner is a good bloke and definitely won't rip you parents off. It's a Bosch service centre and always busy which says a lot. If it's possible get it there and give them a try or call them for some advice 01536 411777. Hope this helps.
  14. Look like brand new to me, seems a great job. Suit the car very well I'll keep them in my favourites just in case. Cheers.
  15. It's a fair cop....old git the grand old age of 44. It winds my daughter up a treat. she pays more than me for her 1.0 Aygo
  16. I'll be trying all the usual suspects, Greenlight, Sky, Chris Knott. A mates got a modified S3 and he gets a good deal from Chris Knott as well.
  17. Yep, I'll be shopping around. Privilege were only £350 a year and they've always been fairly cheap for me whatever car I've had.
  18. Fight! I know, posted it in case anybody else is with privilege, I've been with them 9 years and it's typical when I want to make a change to the car they stop insuring performance mods. Never mind, I'll just have to be patient.
  19. Just phoned them and they will not insure any performance mods as of 2nd April this year. That's just stuffed me for changing my exhaust The lack of exhaust sound is the only downside of the car. Looks like I'll have to wait until November and move my policy...well cheesed off.
  20. Very nice! Be good to see a few more pics. I'd quite like a tank in the house, but I have enough to do with my koi pond(all cheap mutts).

    My Z

I hadn't driven a Z for a few years, my last one was an 05 GM convertible which was more a cruiser. This seems much quicker, more responsive and more planted than my old car. Build quality and interior trim seems much improved and I love the 19" wheels on the GT. I was giving it a clean today and my neighbour came up and said "that's some piece of machinery" enough said I think! The only downside so far for me is exhaust note....or lack of it. I'm going to check if my insurance will be loaded if I change it, as long as it not too much, then I'll be changing it as soon as I can. Cheers Phil
  22. I've just put my name down for the lance and snow foam group buy, been meaning to get one for years. If you have a pressure washer then it would be a good investment, removes most of the muck before you can grind it into the paint. A must for black cars. Have a search on detailingworld, almost too much info.
  23. Best advice is to keep calm and think of your family, you wouldn't be posting it on here if you hadn't already worked that out for yourself. If you get banged up for sorting him out then he's deffo got away with it and you'd probably get clobbered for damages to, he'd have a right laugh (once out of hospital I'm guessing ) The garage isn't bothered about the scratches so that's a result. You'll be moving soon so result again. In the short term, buy a cheap wireless cctv system and put it up to cover your cars. If he does it again you have your proof and you can do whatever you feel is appropriate (I'd try plod myself and make him pay through his pocket). Family first always mate. It's the right choice.
  24. Don't know if it's the arviva one or not, I did it over the phone with the dealer and I got an email within a few minutes with my 7 day cover and an annual premium offer. The insurance scheme is called 'nissan free to go' and is administered by Equity Direct Broking if that helps. Seems to me dealers are making the rules up as they go
  25. I don't get it regarding the 7 day insurance? I used this for getting my car taxed so they do insure the 370z as part of the Nissan drive away? Get back on to the dealer and tell them it can be done, I've still got the quote in my inbox. This is Nissan 7 day cover? Deffo can be done. Is it an age thing, I'm an old git 44?
