  1. Seems an odd comment, given that the 350Z is within a lot more peoples price range than the M3 (£24k vs £44k) I'd consider the 350Z to be the 'average joe' car in the comparison. Strange how different people have different perceptions. There is always a faster car out there, why do you care ? Surely you should either be happy with the performance or not regardless of what other cars are about.
  2. Got it now thanks. Cheers for all the offers of help
  3. Well having just swapped from an E46 M3 to the 350Z the M3 is noticeably faster. M3 0-100 is about 11 secs 350Z is about 14 secs, quite a big difference.
  4. Yeah I didn't realise it wouldn't work without the remote - stupid design. I haven't asked nissan but expect just the remote would cost more than a tom tom so no point.
  5. Hi, I need a remote control for the stock sat nav fitted to 04 plate cars. Anyone got one they can part with ?
  6. I do prefer the Vtec power style where it just keeps on pulling but agree on something like a 2.0l engine its a bit pants, however the S54 in the M3 had the same characteristics but the engine was strong enough at lower revs not to have that problem. Its not a major issue and as I don't thrash my cars most of the time I probably won't even notice it day to day !
  7. Absolutely I'm not saying its slow, just the character of it really, the rest of the car is so good I suppose it just stood out as not being quite up to the quality of the rest of the controls. Just my first impression from driving it home.
  8. Ahhh this is missing - I assume a new one is going to be required.
  9. Cars always have one weak point, the brakes were it on my last car (M3) but the rest of the car was excellent. I don't think the perfect car exists. The 350 seems like an excellent car, which is why I bought one. thanks for the advice r.e. re-coding procedure.
  10. Just would prefer a bit more poke top end, it seems like it should have a bit more go to it somehow. Rubbish is a bit strong I suppose, just doesn't feel like a 280 bhp car. I have been used to quite a peaky engine before which might be affecting my perception though. Its fine for driving round town just seems a bit lacking if you really extend it. Really happy with all the other aspects of the way it drives.
  11. So I've just collected the car. First impressions are its not bad at all. Rubbish engine but apart from that its pretty decent. Steering is quite good, brakes are good and I can get my golf clubs in the back which I didn't think I'd be able to so bonus. Only niggle I've detected so far is the spare key hasn't been cut which I hadn't noticed. I assume I'll have to get this coded - is this a dealer job or is it possible to do it some other way where I don't have to pay £££££££££. I'll get some photos up when I get chance ! Also might be a stupid question but how do you use the sat nav ? I can't see any controls for it in the car.
  12. Be careful the gel coat on the glass fiber hasn't split, if it has it needs to be re-done, just painting over it won't work.
  13. Sunday morning ? Cant make Sunday full stop unfortunately. Might be able to wing tomorrow at some point I can't do tomorrow doing a show / track day then the world cup. Nevermind.
  14. Anyone available this sunday afternoon ? my phone number: PM for number cheers Mike
  15. Thanks to everyone that has replied. I'm very serious about getting this car - basically have had a quick once over it already and agreed a price in principal. It had a knock coming from the front on the test drive which is being fixed this week, apparently its booked in the garage this sat to have the work done and the parts have been ordered. Unless a major fault is detected when I pick it up its a done deal. I'm not sure exactly when I'll be picking up the car as I'm waiting to hear from the guy - I assume on sat, if the work has gone ok and its 'ready' for me to pick up. I'd assume it would be sunday or an evening next week. I'd not really known what to look for when I first had a poke round the car, things like the rear axle etc so would just appreciate someone who has owned one looking out / advising for any usual problem areas. It always helps to have another pair of eyes looking for things also. I've also not got a job at the moment so its more important than usual that I don't have to sink major cash into the car straight away. The car is in early near reading, and I'm pretty close in wokingham. Clearly I'd pay fuel bills etc for anyone traveling any distance.
  16. Hi, I'm hopefully going to be pick up a 350Z possibly at the weekend or sometime next week. Is there anyone that lives near reading that wouldn't mind helping me check the car over before I take possession of it and hand over money ? Theres nothing more valuable than someone who has owned / owns a model of car checking it over. Several beers will find their way to you if so........ thanks Mike
  17. No worries then, I'm not too fussed about minor paint scuffs on the bottom of it. I think its in 2 weeks time at the weekend - sunday maybe..... I'll check...... 20th june would you be about in the evening on the 20th ? Might be later in the day as I'm displaying a car so not sure when they let you out.
  18. I'm going to the lotus festival at snetterton in a few weeks time - thats quite close to you I think, could pick it up then ?
  19. Sounds like a plan - very generous of you. I'll wait till I've got the car then give you a call / transfer some money. cheers Mike it needed some work, thought it best to be honest and you may decided to respray which would increase your costs. going stock then doersn't become as cost effective. i have no use for it, and it will only take up space in my garage. saves me time having to find a buyer and frees up my garage loft space. if you have another vehicle and wished to collect in person i'm in ipswich, it would then save on trying to organise a courier and you'll know it will get shipped in perfect condition. Do you have any pics of it, just so its clear what condition its in ? I might be able to sort a pick up for it I'll investigate my options. You're right couriers are useless.
  20. Sounds like a plan - very generous of you. I'll wait till I've got the car then give you a call / transfer some money. cheers Mike
  21. Thanks for the welcome. I'm hoping it will turn out to be a good car ! Certainly gets some good reviews. hope to see some of you at a track day sometime soon ! It is/was an odd series of events but maybe its fate
  22. I assume thats the colour my car is ? How much would you want for it ? If you don't want to post here send me a PM with the price.
  23. Thanks I'll bear it in mind, would prefer to get one with the washers as I'll have to do something with the tubes then but could be an option.
