  1. Just a quick write up of a detail I recently did. This time an Aston Martin V8 Vantage. It has been in and out of body shops and so on for a while now, trying to get it looking like new. Now the paintwork was done, this was where I stepped in.

I won't bore you all with a long write up like you read everyday from other sites.

    A quick run down:

    - Washed (2BM with 2 Lambswool mitts)

    - Dried

    - Clayed using Sonus Green and Meguires LT (1:1)

    - Dried

    - Wheels clayed with Meguires Clay

    - Wheels were cleaned and treated off the car

    - 3M Blue Tape for taping up

    - Polishes used were Menzerna Power Finish on a 3M Black Pad, then 3M Ultrafina SE on 3M Blue Ultrafina Pad for finishing

    - Wax was Dodo Juice Supernatural

I've no doubt missed loads of steps out but its a brief overview none the less.

And a few pictures just to show you my long days work.

Crazy marks on the rear quarter:

    After the mild cut phase:

50/50 after the first cut pass. Shows the extra deepness the paint gets even at this phase.

Wheels Off to do wheels and suspension etc

Biggest let down on the car, the key... Its literally a Ford!

There are no inside shots as I only concentrated on the outside of the car on this one. He wanted all the attention spent on the paintwork. A good 14 hours of machine involved in this one. :headhurt:

And lastly a quick walk around video for good measure. :)

  2. Not another thread being turned into a "I hate stanced cars" onslaught, who gives a damn, you build the your car for you not for everyone else.

I have stanced my 350z up a bit because why not? I still get enough traction for how I drive, not all of us want to drive hell for leather making tyres squeal to within an inch of their life.

Anyway, back on topic. Good page, thanks for sharing, liked.

  3. I was driving in Milton Keynes yesterday when another Gunmetal 350z turned round the roundabout in front of me, had black alloys with polished/chrome lip. Couldn't see much else done to it. The number plate i think was trying to spell something along the lines of Tony.

It was about 8pm Sunday evening, anyone off here?

  4. To be honest if you talk of Falken's 'letting go' you shouldn't be pushing a car too hard on public roads anyway, you're more than likely breaking a speed limit to do so. If you track a car that's different, but day to day driving should be more about stopping distances, water displacement and enough grip to take you to 70 and around some corners at lower speeds. :p:boxing:

  5. Having just part ex`d my 350z which had the optional extra £1400 factory sat nav fitted, I got exactly ZERO more for the car. So, that means that 2nd hand it makes no difference to the cars value at all, so ones with the system fitted should cost you the same. On the other hand, there werent many people who when buying a new zed figured paying that much for a sat nav represented better value than an £80 tomtom, so there are loads more non sat nav cars out there.

Functionality and usability wise I found the factory sat nav to be really good. Sure, you cant enter postcodes which is the biggest bug bear. But, the screen is nice and big, it integrates with the radio perfectly fine, the maps (i had the 2011 maps in mine) were more accurate than my tomtom and I never once had a problem where the system hadnt heard of the address I wanted.

But, I certainly wouldnt turn down a nice 350z which didnt have the factory sat nav so for me personally it would not be a deal breaker. These days there are a million & one options out there. Ive just bought a new bmw 123d m sport and opted NOT to go for the sat nav. I use a free app on my galaxy s2 called "Waze" which is an awesome sat nav system. And its free. Alternatively you can get garmin & other systems which will fit nicely into the 350z`s cubby hole and look very oem. Im currently considering a 7" android tablet for my beemer now on which to run Waze.

How did you get 2011 maps on yours? I thought you were stuck with the year you got :o

  6. Falken's are a medium/budget priced tyre. So you will get a medium/budget quality tyre in return for your cash.

However for the money I think they are very good. Maybe they cant compete grip/wet/stopping distances wise compared to something like a Michelin PS3 but then again you are only paying half the price. Falken's are a harder compound and for me that's great as they are hard wearing.

  7. How can people be a 'fly by' detailer. I detail some pretty fancy cars on a regular basis, but when I was starting out I had to be cheap to get work. I worked on my skills for over a year before doing a paid job. Everyone has to start out somewhere. (your comment about DA's though are true, if you want to be a professional, I say get onto the rotary asap)

  8. i fit some to my buddyclub system yesterday. It will make it louder, and probably give it a bit of a raspy sound.

The tone changed on mine too. Its a lot lower pitched than it was before. rumbles rather than screams
